Cheryl Cole has been given a €1MILLION ($1.38million) pay rise to stay with the British X Factor, the Irish Daily Mirror can reveal.
Her money has been doubled after Simon Cowell failed to land her a job on the American version of the hit show.
US TV bosses feared audiences wouldn't "get her" after celebrity blogger Perez Hilton dubbed her a "nobody".
A source said: "Cheryl is thrilled about the new deal. She thought her days on the UK X Factor were behind her but the money is too good to refuse."
Cheryl Cole has dramatically ditched her plans to quit the X Factor and will return for a new series on €2million ($2.77million a year.
The pop babe has struck a secret deal with Simon Cowell, who has been unable to convince US telly bosses to make her a judge on the American version of the show.
Now the 27-year-old will sign the recordbreaking deal that will see her return as a judge in the new series which begins filming in May.
An X Factor insider revealed: "This is Simon's way of making it up to Cheryl for not landing her the US X Factor gig. He's handing her a €2million dream pay day.
"She was convinced Simon had pulled all the strings to get her on the judging panel but it's been a disaster. Now Cheryl will make twice the money she was on last year."
Cheryl is the only one of the judges to be guaranteed a return to the show with Simon due to inform Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh if they have new deals in the next two weeks.
The source added: "Cheryl is thrilled about the new deal. She thought her days on the UK X Factor were behind her but the money is too good to refuse.
"Simon has told her he's going to look after her and he has a lot of surprises in store for this year's show.
"He's going to shake things up dramatically and make some big changes. He wants the new format to be much edgier and Cheryl will play a major role in that.
"She's going to be returning with a bang and with Simon no longer appearing on the show he's banking on Cheryl to stir things up."
While Cheryl won favour with US television executives, there were major concerns the audiences won't "get her".
American celebrity blogger Perez Hilton hit out at the former Girls Aloud star and said: "No one over here knows who Cheryl is and I doubt anyone would understand her accent.
"Why would Simon go for a nobody if he can get someone like Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera to join the show?" However, Cowell is also thought to be lining up Mariah's ex-husband, US record executive Tommy Mottola, for the judging panel.
