Real Talk with Chrystina Sayers

Hollywood Swagger recently caught up with model/pop star Chrystina Sayers to discuss her modeling career, working with Girlicious, and her upcoming solo album. Check out everything she had to say below.

HS: First and foremost, please tell our readers a little about yourself.

Chrystina: My name is Chrystina Sayers! I have a huge obsession with fashion, love and animals! I have three beautiful dogs back home in San Diego.

HS: Where did you grow up and how long have you lived in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area?

Chrystina: I am originally from sunny San Diego! I grew up in the city of Scripps Ranch, but have lived in Los Angeles for the past 3 years.

HS: What originally brought you out to this area?

Chrystina: I moved out to L.A. when I was 20, right after I was chosen to be a part of a new girl group ” Girlicious”. “The Pussy Cat Dolls Present Girlicious” was a singing competition created by Robin Antin (the founder of The Pussycat Dolls).

HS: How long have you been modeling, and how did you get started in it?

Chrystina: Modeling for me didn’t come in to my life until my sophomore year in High School. I found myself, feeling very “girly” instead of “tomboyish.” As soon as I realized this new me, I then started to become very curious with modeling and being sexy! After that, I definitely started taking modeling, singing and dancing very seriously. My first shoot, believe it or not, was in my backyard! My father found a really good photographer and said he wanted a more real situation so we decided to do the shoot in my home. After that shoot, I did another shoot, still in high school, with another photographer… but this time we chose a studio. This was the first time I had the ” hair and make up” treatment. That experience was amazing because it prepped me for the Big League.

HS: The girl group you were in “Girlicious” has well over 10 million views on youtube, how did all that come about?

Chrystina: Girlicious started from a reality tv show, ” Pussy Cat Dolls Presents: Girlicious.” I was one of the winners. We have had two studio albums put out. The first was released in 2008 called ” Girlicious.” The second album was released in November 22, 2010 called “Rebuilt.”

Our fan base is primarily based out of Canada and overseas. We have had much success. In 2009, we won the Much Music Award for the most viewed video of 2008 for our single called ” Like Me.”

Recently the news has been let out that I have left the group, as did Natalie Mejia.

It was definitely a great time for me which I learned so much about myself and I have grown so much as an artist. I left for very great reasons that I wont disclose at this time. But, I will say I had a lot of fun and I don’t regret anything.

HS: Where is your singing career at now that you have left “Girlicious”?

Chrystina: I am now working on my solo career that I am super excited about. I would love to tell everyone what type of sound, look and so on but I don’t want to spill any beans.

HS: Fair enough, so how did you originally get started with your singing career?

Chrystina: Since I can remember, I’ve always been the singer and dancer in my family. I always was in Choral choirs and I began being vocally trained by a classical teacher At age 12.

My career got started seriously when I decided to stop playing basketball my sophomore year of high school, and focus on my music career. I knew I wasn’t getting any taller and deep inside my heart, I really felt I could be very successful as a entertainer.

HS: What does a normal day consist of for a busy model/singer like yourself?

Chrystina: A normal day in the Chrystina Sayers world is waking up at 7 am in the morning, have a little breakfast, which consist of oatmeal or eggs. Then I am off to the gym to work out for at least a hour or so. After my workout, then Voice lessons begin. Later in the day, acting lessons, and then finally at night, dance rehearsals. That is the normal day
that I am used to. Most of the time it is consistent… unless I have a performance, an acting audition, or a shoot.

HS: What do you like to do in your leisure time for fun?

Chrystina: For fun I love to go to the beach and relax. There is nothing better to me then the beach. I also love to do movie nights!

HS: Any upcoming project our plans that your fans should look out for?

Chrystina: I’m working on my solo album. My solo album is definitely in the works and I want my fans to hold onto their seat, because it’s coming.

HS: Do you have any advice for young up and coming girls looking to get into either modeling or singing?

Chrystina: My advice for all the young girls pursing the modeling and singing career is to make sure that they stay them self, because us girls are all unique.

HS: So how can your fans keep up on what you are doing?

Chrystina: My fans can go to my personal social networks:

Or also my Fan Sites:

HS: Thanks for taking the time to stop in, we wish you the best of luck with your upcoming album and all your endeavors. Make sure to keep us updated in how things turn out!

Chrystina: Thank you!
