WWE legends Hulk Hogan and The Rock to square off on silver screen
WWE legend Hulk Hogan is back. And he's aiming to take down The Rock, although not inside a WWE wrestling ring. It was announced Wednesday that Hulk Hogan is going to give feature films another shot in hopes of becoming to the film industry what The Rock presently is - a major star. According to exclusive details and the new video trailer released, Hulk Hogan isn't the only former - and aging - pro wrestler to star in the film. Diamond Dallas Page is coming along for the theatrical ride, which, ironically, is being produced by a company called 'Rock on Films."
Titled "Black River," the film will be released later this year. An official release date is still pending.
"After losing his son to a tragic accident," the film's description reads, "Clayton Elie's [Diamond Dallas Page] life was destroyed by alcohol abuse and violence that ended his marriage. When he moves to the small Midwestern town of Black River in an attempt to begin again, he finds himself at the center of a series of murders that echo a long dormant secret from the town's past."
Sounds like a Hulk Hogan film so far, huh?
"After several sleepless nights that lead to a long night of heavy drinking and a subsequent blackout, Clayton awakens the next morning to find his neighbor and her small child brutally murdered and the murder weapon inside his apartment," the description continues.
"When he is forced to hide the evidence by the untimely arrival of an FBI profiler, Clayton's life rapidly deteriorates into a storm of violence, murder and small town intrigue," the synopsis concludes. "Is Clayton a cold-blooded killer, or the victim of a malevolent force that has descended upon the town of Black River?"
According to pro wrestling blog Rajah, Hogan "will have a prominent role in the film."
In recent days, there's been ample speculation that Hulk Hogan is jealous of The Rock's WWE return and his silver screen success. Some even believe Hogan's comments were meant to draw attention to his feature film projects by capitalizing on The Rock's name.
So will this be Hulk Hogan's opportunity to best The Rock as a feature film star?
I'm so excited!!!! Now if only Jericho would appear :(
