X Factor insiders have reported that Simon Cowell plans to sign four out of the five semi final acts to his SYCO record label.
The music mogul is said to be greatly impressed with the talent of Cher Lloyd, 17, Matt Cardle, 27, Rebecca Ferguson, 24 and One Direction and believes that all have the potential to seel a lot of records. The only remaining contestant he isn’t interested in is Mary Byrne, who has become the bookies favourite to leave on tonight’s results show.
An X Factor source told The Daily Star:
“Simon is really impressed by this year’s semi-final line-up.
“He can see all of them apart from Mary being big money-spinners. He’s told colleagues he expects Matt to win but doesn’t want to let the others get away.
“Simon knows Rebecca has the perfect recording voice and is something special."
“He’s also aware that Cher is a little star in the making.
“She may only be 17 but she’s causing a buzz Stateside, with Will.i.am saying he wants to sign her. He also knows boybands are ruling the charts at the moment with Take That, JLS, Westlife and The Wanted riding high with albums.
“He’d be a fool to wash his hands of the five One Direction boys if they don’t win.
“He also knows Matt is the most popular singer among fans.”
It was obvious on tonight’s show that the judges were all washing their hands of Mary Byrne, in the hopes that she would be voted off this evening. As Adrian Chiles pointed out, all four were all quick to promise the Dublin singer that she will never work in Tesco again but not one assured her that she will have a place in next week’s final.
