Turkey Minaj Pardoned at White House!!

WASHINGTON (KABC) -- President Barack Obama continued a decades-old tradition at the White House Wednesday morning when he officially pardoned the National Thanksgiving Turkey.

The pardon was issued to a gobbler named Apple and its alternate, Cider.

The two 21-week-old, 45-pound turkeys were raised on a farm near Modesto, California.

Before the official ceremony, Obama spoke out about his presidential action.

"It feels pretty good to stop at least one shellacking this November," said the president.

A "shellacking" is how Obama described the beating Democrats suffered in elections earlier this month; the party lost control of the House and saw its Senate majority trimmed by six seats.

After the Rose Garden ceremony, the turkeys were taken to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia where they'll spend the rest of their lives.
