British band Coldplay has signed on to perform at this year’s Juno Awards, the annual celebration of Canadian music.
The top-selling group is among the first batch of performers announced for the April 2nd show live from Halifax.
Nickelback and Michael Buble have also been confirmed.
“The Juno Awards is one of the biggest musical events in North America,”
said Melanie Berry, president of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, in a press release.
“Our celebration of the Canadian music industry and its talent continues to attract world-renowned artists to our stage. Today's announcement kicks off what promises to be the first of many exciting announcements to come.”
Coldplay is about to kick off the second leg of their North American tour.
Nominations for the 2006 Juno Awards will be announced Feb. 15. The show will be broadcast on CTV.
