PETER DOHERTY LOSES OUT ON £50K
It should have been the easiest £50,000 (88,381.54 USD) Pete Doherty ever made but instead of lining his pockets, the crack addict has cost a radio station nearly £120,000.
Bosses at Austria's FM4 were fuming on Saturday after the Babyshambles frontman failed to turn up for a gig following yet another arrest on suspicion of possessing drugs.
Station promoters were so desperate for 26-year-old Pete and his band to perform that they hired a Learjet and crew, and kept it on stand-by for five hours at Luton - at a cost of £20,000.
But Kate Moss's one-time squeeze wasn't released on bail until yesterday, so the station also had to refund the price of the tickets, which amounted to £100,000.
We're told: "Pete's bandmates, Drew McConnell and Adam Ficek, flew to Graz without Pete on Saturday afternoon because they thought he'd be released in time to join them for the gig.
"The promoters organised the jet for 6pm. It was held for five hours... until it became clear Pete wasn't going to make it."
Ok, so Drew McConnell is the bassist for Babyshambles but since Peter wasn't able to make it he did lead vocals, too. Before the set Drew said this and I couldn't agree more:
"All right, well check it out. Peter - - I'll let you in on a secret. Peter's very talented. He's a wonderful man. But he's a fucking idiot. And tonight you've got the cheap Irish alternative, but I'm gonna sing some of his songs badly."
You can download an amateur video (so it's more like an audio, lol) of what Drew said here (17.47 MB).
Much thanks to myska_x for that.
