Betty White Gets "Naked" At Pink's Hot Dog At Universal CityWalk
Today at Universal Citywalk, the infamous Pink's Hot Dogs-- family owned and operated since 1939-- unveiled its first stand in the San Fernando Valley. This stand joins a handful of others, including the original on La Brea Avenue in Hollywood, as well as one at Planet Hollywood and another soon to be opened at LAX. To make this event even more special, though, television legend and six-time Emmy winner Betty White was on-hand to debut her new, original "Naked" Dog.
The "Naked" Dog is literally just a plain hot dog on a bun, because like White herself, a classic doesn't need frills or gimmicks. White, a long time supporter of animal rights, ensured that proceeds from the sale of the "Naked" Dog will benefit L.A.'s own East/West Valley Animal Shelters. After introducing the dog and the "Bun Brothers" (male models) who would be selling the dogs today, White cut the ribbon to officially mark the Citywalk location open for business. Reporters and fans streamed in to check out the location, as well as the newest addition to the menu.
White, best known for her roles on iconic programs like Mary Tyler Moore and Golden Girls, White also recently made history for being named a Saturday Night Live host (her episode will air in May) based upon popular, online demand. White will also co-star in Hot in Cleveland, a pilot for the 2010 season also starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick.
