Christina Aguilera just released the devil-may-care artwork for her new single “Not Myself Tonight” — and In Touch has the lowdown on her new sound! On her 2006 album Back to Basics, the singer went retro with a sound that referenced music from the ‘20s, ‘30s and ‘40s, but on her new album, she’s going for a sonic landscape that’s ahead of its time.
“I’m so excited — I’ve had an idea for a futuristic feel for many years now,” Christina tells In Touch. “It's always been in the back of my mind to do a more futuristic sound. I was inspired by artists that I am collaborating with on the album. Folks like Sia, Ladytron and Goldfrapp.” Another inspiration for her new music? Her 2-year-old son, Max!
“I felt like it couldn't been a better time or place for me personally, also as a new mom,” says the singer, who’s been married to Jordan Bratman since November 2005. “Max has so much of both of us. One day, everyone says he looks just like Jord, and the next, like me. He is walking and talking, and a bundle of joy!”
