Slow News Day? Here's A Bit of Online Pop Culture News

Apparently membership to BeautifulPeople.com should come with an anti-eggnog advisory -- 5,000 of its users have been banned for gaining too much weight over the holidays.

The boot came after the site began receiving complaints from some of its users about meeting up with people who had gained weight since the holidays or whose recently uploaded pictures showed visible weight gain.

To join the online dating site already existing members have to vote on whether an applicant is attractive enough. Apparently the cumulative effects of pumpkin pie, spinach dip and hot buttered rum were more than some people could handle.

In an interview with BBC, site founder Robert Hintze said, "Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded." Call us crazy, but we wouldn't want to date anyone with this mentality, regardless of whether or not they think we're hot.

The site now only lets members of the opposite sex vote members out because, Hodge noted, lots of women were voting other women out to simply cut down on the competition.
