Where are they now?
In honor of watching this in APUSH now that the tests are over, I figured we could all use a little "Where are they now?" dose of Forrest Gump.
Forrest Gump --- Tom Hanks
"I'm sorry I had to fight in the middle of your Black Panther party"
This guy sort of fell off the face of the Earth after this movie. Although he won an Academy Award for Best Actor, he's only done a few things, including some movies called "Apollo 13," "Toy Story," "That Thing You Do!," and "Castaway." It looks like he has a new movie out called "Angels and Demons," it might be nice if you guys all went out and saw it, it looks like he could use a few bucks.
Jenny Curran --- Robin Wright (Penn)
"Dear God, make me a bird. So I could fly far. Far far away from here. "
Working fairly steadily since the movie, including "White Oleander" and "Beowulf" among other things (The Princess Bride was before this, before you all jump on me), at this point she's most known for her marriage to Sean Penn, although on April 28th, 2009, it was announced they were filing for separation. Again. Only then Sean Penn, on May 20th, requested the case be dismissed. Again. Anyway, she can also be seen now in "State of Play" and is in the upcoming movies "A Christmas Carol" and "New York, I Love You."
Lieutenant Dan Taylor --- Gary Sinise
"It was my destiny!"
Gary Sinise has been in a bunch of movies with Tom Hanks including "Apollo 13" and "The Green Mile" and can now be seen on the TV show "CSI: New York". He's also the narrator for the fake space ship ride at Epcot which is sort of fucking awesome. He also has a band called the Lt. Dan band, named after his character in the movie. He's also a huge conservative and donated money to John McCain's campaign in the 2008 election.
Benjamin Buford Blue aka "Bubba" --- Mykelti Williamson
"Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it."
Williamson has worked steadily since his most famous role as "Bubba" in the movie. He's been in a bunch of TV shows and movies, most recently in "CSI: New York" with co-star Gary Sinise and has three movies on the way, including the next Final Destination movie. He's also going to be introduced as a main character in the next season of 24. In 1998 he was accused of stalking his ex-wife Cheryl Chisholm and stabbing her companion, but later was acquitted. So uh, good for him!
Ms. Gump --- Sally Field
"What's normal anyways?"
Sally Field already had an established career before appearing in "Forrest Gump" including two Oscars. (She's the one who's credited with "You like me! You really like me!) She was only 10 years older than Tom Hanks when she played his mother. Anyway, since Forrest Gump she's had various roles in television in movies, including "E.R." and now as the mom in "Brothers and Sisters." She's rumored to be playing Mary Todd Lincoln in a movie about the president and was romantically linked with Burt Reynolds for awhile in the 80s which is kickass.
Young Forrest Gump --- Michael Conner Humphreys
"EH EH EH EH EH"
After Forrest Gump, Humphrey's decided not to take anymore professional acting roles and stayed in school, eventually going to the University of North Alabama. In 2005, he enlisted in the army and fought in the Iraq War. His time ended a year ago, though, and has now been cast in "Pathfinders," where he's playing...a solider. Cool dude.
Young Jenny Curran --- Hanna Hall
"Run, Forrest, Run!"
Hanna appeared in many movies after Forrest Gump, most famously "The Virgin Suicides" and the remake of "Halloween." She also attended the Colorado Rocky Mountain School and then attended the Vancouver Film School. Pretty sure this is her facebook is you want to be a creep about it. Also she has four upcoming movies coming out. You go, Glen Coco!
Forrest Gump Jr. --- Haley Joel Osment
"You're Dorothy Harris. I'm Forrest Gump."
Oh, Haley Joe.
