There's a whole lot more story and double meaning, deals with racism & homophobia.
Speaking of story, it's actually got a storyline.
It's a drama/mystery/action show. There is also love & sex and neither of them are 'sin' or 'evil'.
Alan Ball made the show (dude behind 6 feet under), so the characters are many and fleshed out (not just cardboard stand-ins for plot points).
It's a HBO show. (I know that's a vague description but it's got that rich on details feel)
It's deliciously cheesy, saultry and sassy at the same time.
People get naked.
