There’s information on the New Moon auditions for Native American teens that we told about a few days ago. According to BoxWish.com, some fans were turned away since the response was overwhelming.
Yet it seems that those organising the Canadian auditions weren’t prepared for the huge number of first nations youngsters applying to be part of the Stephenie Meyers story, resulting in hundreds of hopefuls being turned away before they’d even had a chance.
The advert had asked for “young first nations/aboriginal actors and actresses between the ages of 15 and 25” and they descended upon Second Avenue Studios in their hundreds, some travelling as far afield as Florida for the opportunity to share the screen with the film franchises’ leading lights Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. “This is more than we expected,” admitted Bim Narine, a casting assistant at Vancouver’s Aikins/ Cossey agency. “It’s definitely a good turnout.”
The queues started to form as early as 5a.m. yesterday morning and ran all the way down Second Avenue and snaked into the corner of Crowe Street as hopefuls looked to make the audition window of 9am to 12pm, though many were left disappointed when this closed at 12.30pm. “It sucks,” complained 22-year-old Rosanna Razor. “I was here since 9 a.m. I came up from Seattle.” Sharing her regret was Razor who explained: “This is a proud moment for me. Native people don’t always get opportunities like this and I thought it would be really cool to be a part of it.” Some even targeted their frustrations at those that had made it into the building before the cut-off point, hurling accusations of unfair queue-jumping.
