David Tennant attends Radio Times party, forgets to pay car tax

He may be known as the Time Lord, but when it comes to making sure his documents are up-to-date, it appears David Tennant can't tell one year from the next.

The Doctor Who star will most definitely be needing the use his time machine when the DVLA discover his tax disc has expired.

The eccentric actor was pictured entering his car with the disc, which ran out on New Year's Eve, clearly displayed on his windscreen.

David's time on the BBC show comes to an end this year as he is set to be replaced by Matt Smith.

He has admitted he is envious of his young replacement, but warned that the increased level of public scrutiny which follows will change Smith's life.

He said: 'Everything that's about to unfold and the way that his life is going to change in so many ways... It's exciting,'

'I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life-changing time working on Doctor Who. I have loved every day of it.

'It would be very easy to cling on to the Tardis console forever and I fear that if I don't take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will.

'You would be prising the Tardis key out of my cold dead hand. This show has been so special to me, I don't want to outstay my welcome.

'I feel very privileged to have been part of this incredible phenomenon, and whilst I'm looking forward to new challenges I know I'll always be very proud to be the Tenth Doctor.'

Evans confirmed on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross (to be aired tomorrow);

"I'm a professor...they asked me the other day, and I said I'd love to do it."

With production having now commenced on the first Doctor Who special Planet of the Dead, fans who have been watching events unfold in Cardiff over the last few days have reported on Ryan being involved with this episode. This was confirmed last night with the actress being seen performing with current Doctor David Tennant. Though there has been no official confirmation of her role from the BBC as yet, it is believed that she is playing the part of companion to the tenth Doctor for this special, with The London Paper today reporting her character name as 'Lady Christina de Souza'.

Pictures of David Tennant and Michelle Ryan on location can be found here. Shooting began on Monday in Cardiff and will continue until April/May.
