H2: Halloween 2 news

Michael Myers' New Mask

It wasn’t long ago that FEARnet sat down with Halloween redux director Rob Zombie and got the skinny on H2 and Tyler Mane’s role reprisal as Michael Myers. But since then, Zombie has been a “Myspace update madman”! Amidst the oodles of goodies on Zombie’s official Myspace, he’s recently released early photos of a version of the Michael Myers mask he’s planning for H2.

According to Zombie - “FX master Wayne Toth is back to work creating the latest and greatest version of Michael Myers for H2. Here is an exclusive sneak peek at some early pics of the mask in it's clay sculpt form. If you thought Michael was fucked before, you ain't seen nothing yet! He is bigger, meaner and more psycho than Dr. Loomis ever thought possible.”

Halloween 2 Seen Through New Eyes

Rob Zombie is replacing the director of photography of his last two features - Phil Parmet (The Devil's Rejects and Halloween) - with Brandon Trost for Halloween 2. They commence shooting on the sequel in Atlanta, Georgia on February 23rd for Dimension Films.

Trost has amassed a sizable list of credits in the cinematography and special effects departments. In the latter, he has worked as an FX assistant on Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Scream 2. As a director of photography he shot Rob Hall's Lightning Bug, Jake Kennedy's Days of Darkness and, most recently, Crank 2: High Voltage.

Zombie has stated that this new sequel is going to be, when compared to the 2007 remake, different in the same fashion The Devil's Rejects is to its predecessor House of 1000 Corpses. Getting a new d.p., who's possibly going to bring to the table a new look to the film, is certainly one way to change things up.

Halloween 2 picked up immediately after the remake and finds Tyler Mane reprising his role as Michael Myers. More cast members will be announced shortly.

Ezra Buzzington Cast in H2/Tyler Bates Providing the Score

Rob Zombie is calling on Ezra Buzzington to appear in Halloween 2. The actor, who has co-starred in The Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors, recently wrapped New Terminal Hotel.

According to Zombie, Buzzington is slipping into the shoes of character "Ned Atkins - beer delivery man for The Rabbit In Red Club. Unfortunately Ezra's scene were cut from Halloween, so he had to come back and rock it again."

Halloween 2 begins shooting February 23rd in Atlanta, Georgia. It's due for release August 28th. Tyler Mane is back as Michael Myers, more casting announcements are expected to roll out this week.

Zombie also announced today that Tyler Bates is, again, providing the score. "Fresh off his composer duties on Day the Earth Stood Still and The Watchmen. The man himself will begin work immediately on the soundtrack to H2. Expect a bold new direction for the sounds to make you shiver."

H2 Gets a Relase Date

Now Rob Zombie has even less time to put together the sequel to his Halloween. Initially, H2 was set for release sometime in October, but Dimension Films has decided to release H2 on August 28 instead, the same weekend that Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex was supposed to open, but has now been put on hold so Zombie can work on H2. None of this seems to bother Zombie, who unveiled the new Michael Myers mask and wrote in his blog: "[Myers] is bigger, meaner and more psycho than Dr. Loomis ever thought possible."

Shooting for H2 begins in March.

Danielle Harris in Talks to Return in 'H2'

When Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN remake was announced, one of the biggest pieces of news was that Danielle Harris would be returning to Haddonfield as she'd end up starring (and taking her top off) as Annie Brackett, one of Laurie Strode's friends. Harris was best known in the horror community as little Jamie Lloyd - Michael Myers' niece - in both 20th Century Fox's HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS and HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS. We learned this evening that Harris is in final talks to join the cast of H2, or HALLOWEEN II if you will. She is the latest name circling the project alongside Scout Taylor-Compton, Malcolm McDowell (signed for three films), Daeg Faerch and Sheri Moon Zombie. Tyler Mane (Michael) is the only confirmed name thus far. What do you guys think Zombie will be doing with Harris? The film hits theaters August 28th, 2009.

Rob Zombie's birthday is tomorrow--he turns 44.
