NME.com reveals 2008's "hottest men" in music
1. Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys)
Not even the emetic confessions of girlfriend Alexa Chung ("We fall asleep with our arms round each other") could dent the charisma of the chief Arctic Monkey.
2. Mark Ronson
The producer had an eventful 2008, winning a BRIT Award (Best Male Act), three Grammies, and producing Kaiser Chiefs' third album 'Off With Their Heads'. Having split with model Daisy Lowe, he is currently dating Tennessee Thomas, the English drummer of American all-girl trio The Like.
3. Brandon Flowers (The Killers)
No one-night stands with groupies for Brandon. Raised in a Mormon household, he's a passionate believer in the tradition of marriage: "The devotion part, I think of my parents being married for 45 years and how that’s a dying thing and I’m trying to hold onto some of those things. I am very old-fashioned, I guess."
4. Carl Barat
Carl Barat, formerly of The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things (he disbanded the latter band in 2008, saying things had become 'un-Libertine'), is currently riding high the NME.COM poll to decide the sexiest male artist of the year.
5. Dom Howard (Muse)
Howard is the only drummer to make the Top 20 in NME.COM's poll to determine music's most fanciable men. Carl Barat is Number 1, with Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood at Number 2.
6. Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead)
The unconventionally handsome guitarist, currently at Number 1 in our poll, has never exploited his fame to bed women. He once said: "I've never taken advantage of the opportunity of one-night stands. It's like treating sex like sneezing. I'm all for erotic in terms of imagination, but the physical side is something different."
7. Matt Bellamy (Muse)
The Muse frontman recently discovered the downside of mass adoration: he is being stalked by a disturbed male fan. "He's from Ireland and he keeps coming to where I live in Italy," explains the singer. "And he keeps leaving bags full of crazy stuff, like loads of bottles with messages written on them."
8. Peter Doherty
Currently at Number 3 in our poll to decide the hottest men in music, the ex-Libertine's hard-living lifestyle and unkempt appearance has not prevented him from dating a string of models, including Kate Moss and Irina Lazareanu.
9. Nick Hodgson (Kaiser Chiefs)
The sharp-dressed drummer, who is also the band's chief songwriter, is steadily growing in confidence as a singer. He sang lead vocals on three tracks on the band's recently released third album 'Off With Their Heads': 'Remember You're A Girl', 'Good Days Bad Days' (the last verse), and 'Spanish Metal' (alongside Ricky Wilson).
10. Miles Kane (The Rascals)
It's been a mixed year for the Wirral-raised singer. While The Last Shadow Puppets went from strength to strength, Kane's 'other' band were forced to postpone their tour when Kane contracted laryngitis and lost his voice.

The guitarist, whose wife Amanda de Cadanet gave birth to twins Silvan and Ella in October 2006, is one of three Strokes to make NME.COM users' Top 20 sexiest males, the others being singer Julian Casablancas and drummer Fab Moretti.

14. Jamie Cook (Arctic Monkeys)
The softly-spoken guitarist's rise to rock stardom has been head-spinningly rapid. He was still working as a bathroom tiler as late as May 2005. He once returned from a sold-out tour to complete a tiling job.
15. Guy Berryman (Coldplay)
The square-jawed bassist, who split from his wife and childhood sweetheart Joanna Briston in 2007, is the fourth richest man under the age of 30 in the UK, with an estimated wealth of £25 million.
16. Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs)
Wilson this year called for an end to the long-running feud between Kaiser Chiefs and Oasis. "It was quite exciting at first," he told BBC Newsbeat, "but now I just can't be bothered talking about it anymore."
17. Andrew VanWyngarden (MGMT)
Evidently it's not just NME.COM users who find VanWyngarden attractive. In August 2008 it was reported that the singer/guitarist was dating 'Spiderman' star Kirsten Dunst.
18. Noel Fielding
It's no surprise Fielding made the Top 20, since he also won Sexiest Male at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008. After the ceremony he claimed to be baffled by the award: "I think I have a strange face."

Even though there was no White Stripes album in 2008, it was still a busy year for White. In addition to the quick-fire release of The Raconteurs second album 'Consolers Of The Lonely', he also teamed up with Alicia Keys to record the theme song for the James Bond film 'Quantum Of Solace'.
20. Jared Followill (Kings Of Leon)
Jared is actually the bass player's middle name - his full name is Michael Jared Followill. He shares this quirk with the other members of the band. Frontman Caleb Followill's real first name is Anthony, drummer Nathan's is Ivan, and guitarist Matthew's is Cameron.
