Tina Turner Blasts Aretha Franklin's Ego For Her "Queen" Reaction Back In February
Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Music legend Tina Turner has finally spoken up about fellow diva Aretha Franklin's reaction when Beyonce Knowles called her a "queen" at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards earlier this year.
In February, the 68-year-old Tina returned on stage with R&B songstress Beyonce at the Grammys. Beyonce referred to her as "the queen," which prompted the offended Queen of Soul Aretha to react.
"Sister Ree" had said in a statement, "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce; however, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."
After more than 7 months, Tina finally has something to say about Aretha's command of R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
She was quoted by singersroom.com as saying, "Aretha has always been like that. We've always accepted that from her."
"She's the queen of soul and I'm the queen of rock n' roll. Her ego must be so big to think she was the only one."
Meanwhile, Tina is expected to go on tour starting on Wednesday through early December in the states before heading outside the country with "Tina Turner's North American Trek."
She said, "The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, the Eagles, we are the Mozarts of these times, we're proving we can last. That's the statement I am making."
