Behind the Scene with Patti Payne
Medina’s Charles Simonyi expected to marry Lisa Persdotter in Sweden this November
Betrothal for a jet-setting billionaire
Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle) - by Patti Payne Contributing Writer
Wedding bells will soon ring for Charles Simonyi and Lisa Persdotter. He is one of Medina’s billionaire jetsetters, a software mogul who Forbes says is one of 15 people likely to reinvent your future, and arts and sciences philanthropist. His bride-to-be is 28 years old and from Sweden.
The two were engaged in romantic St. Tropez, on what many consider a good luck date for relationships — 08/08/08. They will be married in Sweden on Nov. 22, and it’s the first marriage for both.
The soft-spoken Simonyi, 59, formerly Microsoft’s chief architect, credited with Word and Excel, was a space tourist for 10 memorable days last year, taking a $25 million rocket trip into outer space. Now, the Simonyi-Persdotter upcoming nuptials would do well to choose “Fly Me to the Moon” as the wedding song.
Meanwhile Martha Stewart could be singing the blues. The domestic diva, longtime friends with Simonyi, has often referred to him as “my boyfriend.”
