Production begins this week on the half-hour strip which features an unique user generated content twist allowing viewers to drive the action by submitting video questions online. America can upload their trivia asks to www.tpamericaplays.com and will earn the chance to win cash prizes by playing along as the action happens in-studio. Each time the contestant gets a correct answer, money will flow into the Studio Bank but with every miss, those who submitted selected questions will watch the numbers rise in America's Bank-at the end of the game's final round, whoever has more money in the pot will take home the spoils.
Knight, who has been the answer to many a trivia game question over the years, noted: "I've always been a Trivial Pursuit fan and I can really see TV audiences becoming obsessed with this addictive format. Once you start it's hard to stop and I think viewers' fascination with pop culture will keep them coming back for more. Or they can tune in and be bathed in my boyish enthusiasm."
Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of Debmar-Mercury, added: "This is a game that has been a hit in 17 countries and in 26 languages so the opportunity to bring the brand to television with Chris in the driver's seat is really a thrill." They added: "With Chris at the helm we are sure that this show will find a very passionate audience."
