Looks like Ben Affleck may be uttering that most famous of TV catch phrases, "Book 'em, Danno." Sky News reports that Affleck, currently shooting Truth, Justice and the American Way in Toronto, will likely step into the iconic shoes of Jack Lord and play Steve McGarrett in the planned Hawaii Five-O movie.
An insider reports, "Ben is ideal as he mixes the serious with comedy. All we have to do now is find him a leading lady."
Ocean's Twelve writer George Nolfi is penning the script and George Litto - who worked with Five-O creator Leonard Freeman as a packager for several series including Five-O - will produce the project, which is rumored to be a close blueprint of the original series.
The original series was centered around the investigations of Hawaii Five-O, an elite - though fictional - branch of the Hawaii State Police answerable only to the governor and headed by the unwavering Steve McGarrett.
The series co-starred James MacArthur, Kam Fong, Zulu and Al Harrington during its 12 year run on CBS; the longest contiguously running police drama in television history.
No official dates yet have been set for the Hawaii shoot. Warner Bros. plans to release the film in 2006.
No mention on IMDb, however.
