Movie critics gush over Tom Cruise in 'Top Gun: Maverick'

“Top Gun: Maverick” earned a 96% positive rating on the Rotten Tomatoes among 57 reviews as of Thursday. The movie debuts in theaters on May 27.

Mark Kennedy of the Associated Press called the movie “a textbook example of how to make a sequel.”

“The movie satisfies with one foot in the past by hitting all the touchstones of the first film,” Kennedy said, “and yet stands on its own.”

Critics said the movie offers thrilling flight scenes, an emotional story and strong performances by supporting cast including Miles Teller, who plays the son of Goose, Maverick’s partner who died in the original 1986 film.

But most of the praise was reserved for Cruise.

“It’s a fresh-faced gloss on the original … powered, like the original, by a star who’ll simply never stop being a star,” wrote K. Austin Collins of Rolling Stone.

Kendall Jenner Doesn't Know How To Cut a Cucumber

On this week's episode of The Kardashians, Kendall Jenner struggled to cut a cucumber.

The part time model was in her mom's kitchen and decided to make herself a snack. Kris offered to have a chef make her something, but Kendall said she’d do it herself. “I’m just gonna chop up some cucumber. It’s pretty easy,” Kendall said.

Kendall then held the cucumber with one arm and cut it with the other, but the way she did it left many on Twitter befuddled. She told the camera, “I am definitely not a good cutter, so don’t zoom in on me.”

Naturally Twitter mocked this moment.

Theater installs surveillance after Jesse Williams nude photo leak

-The Helen Hayes theater, home to the "Take Me Out" revival, has installed a new infrared camera system facing the audience so that the venue's security team can monitor any would-be phone users during the show."This will allow us to focus on an audience member who looks like they're doing something suspicious, and assess whether they're just going through a purse to get a breath mint or pulling out a phone," said Peter Dean, Directer of production.

-The theater stressed that attendees were aware of the phone free policy and that phones were locked in cases as people entered.

- The theaters statement read in part, "We are appalled that this policy has been violated and unauthorized footage of our acting company has been posted. It is deeply unfortunate that one audience member chose to disrespect the production, their fellow audience members and, most importantly, the cast in this manner.Taking naked pictures of anyone without their consent is highly objectionable and can have severe legal consequences," the statement said.

How HBOMax & Paramount+ helped dare to defy TheCW

-This past month has been the Red Wedding of cancellations for TheCW with them cancelling 10 shows.

-TheCW spent the last decade being the safe space for shows to live long and prosper but that is no longer the case due to various circumstances...such as everyone wanting in on the streaming wars.

-For majority of its run, TheCW (and thereby WB/CBS) made majority of its money from selling their shows overseas and to Netflix with their last Netflix deal being for $100mill for exclusive rights to stream their shows 7 days after they aired their finale.

-3 years ago TheCW opted not to renew their Netflix contract and all new shows would go to either HBO Max or Paramount+ depending on who produced the show and the studios wanting their shows back to build their own libraries (Netflix has exclusive rights to a series for 5 years following its series finale)

-With TheCWs income coming from primarily selling their shows streaming rights no longer a thing it has prompted CBS/WB to cut back on costs.

-TheCW had planned on renewing Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow but the studio lot that they rent out in Vancouver expired May 1st and WB was not interested in renewing the contract so TheCW was forced to cancel the shows.

-With the cancellations comes the end of the Netflix era as only 3 shows remain on TheCW that are grandfathered into the Netflix streaming deal (The Flash/All American/Riverdale) Any hope to save shows such as Charmed, Legacies, LoT, Dynasty, etc. would land on Netflix as they have hold the rights to the shows for 5 years following their finales.

-WB/CBS are also looking to sell their majority share in TheCW and are potentially attempting to make it more appealing with having shows not tied down to previous deals and those that are still able to bring in money.

Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt Joke They 'Sneakily Stole' Non-Scripted Kisses in Jurassic World

Howard: "Dominion was the only time that there's actually been a kiss written into the movie. The last two we sneakily stole ... because it's okay to have a little romance in a Jurassic movie!"

Pratt: "It's true. The need for the will-they-won't-they sexual chemistry does not fall on us in this film. It's Laura and Sam. It's 30 years in the making... and it's just fantastic. It's so beautiful."" (👀)

Howard: "Chris is someone who I respect and admire and who I have a blast with, and we're just very compatible. Getting to have a friend like [that] in my life is absolutely amazing. And that doesn't go away, which is good."

Pratt: "Bryce is actually the secret weapon. If you're making a movie and you have the opportunity to have her involved in any way, you absolutely do it. And you'll be better in the end 'cause she was involved."

Claire Danes and Dakota Fanning cast for Hillary Clinton series

Claire Danes and Dakota Fanning have been cast as Hillary Clinton at various stages of her life for the upcoming series ‘Rodham’ based on the novel by Curtis Sittenfeld.

“Rodham” — published in May 2020, and a New York Times bestseller — imagined an alternative universe in which Hillary Rodham Clinton met and dated Bill Clinton at Yale Law School, but never married him. Instead of the life Clinton has actually led, in “Rodham,” she goes on to thrive as a Northwestern University professor, and launches an eventual presidential run in 2016. Real-world events — such as rape accusations against Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump as a significant figure in politics — also play out in Sittenfeld’s novel, but in vastly altered ways.”
