ONTD Original: Music Video Tropes Pt. 2 - Shipping Containers and/or Heavy Machinery & Tools

There is a sister post with the same theme but with K-Pop videos over on Omona. Click here.

Missed Part 1 all about desert locations? Click here.

Below I've compiled a short list of music videos featuring pop stars that, for some reason or another, love spending time dancing near shipping containers or hanging around heavy machinery:

This Week's US Soaps Promos (October 11th-15th, 2021)

This week on the US Daytime Soaps...

General Hospital

Kinda zoned out on GH this week. Glad there's finally momentum with the Drew storyline. I sort of tune out most any story that has Peter even peripherally involved.

I saw on Nancy Lee Grahn's Twitter that the GH set is fully vaxxed. Goodness, I can only the imagine the drama and tension on set leading up to that. I imagine it must have been a network mandate?.

GH Spoilers for the Week

Days of Our Lives

I like this Ciara and I like Robert Wilson Scott well enough as an actor but Ben's past as the Necktie Killer will prevent me from ever being 100% in support of Cin. Even though the show has gone into overdrive to "redeem" him over the years.

CBS being weird with promos again. This time it's sneak peaks instead of promos. I guess B&B held their promo back last week to keep Deacon's return a surprise.

Megan Fox points a gun at Machine Gun Kelly's crotch in GQ Style

Jamie Lynn Spears: Things I Should Have Said Book Cover

Remaining true to the hypocrite that she it, the little sister of Britney Spears is releasing a book and also honoring Mental Health Day.

Jamie Lynn Spears took to Instagram to release the cover of her new memoir Things I Should Have Said hitting the bargain bin of bookstores January 18th 2021.

Supposedly the book has been in the "works" for years and after the incident involving her daughter in 2017 she felt compelled to write this book.

"This process challenged me to have to be painfully honest with myself, and face a lot of hard things, that I normally would have just glossed right over, like I was taught to." — which I'm pretty sure she's referring to staying completely silent as her sister was stuck in a 13 year conservatorship with no freedom while her entire family profited off her.

Anyways she also writes in her post, "I know I still have ALOT of learning to do, but I feel like finishing this book gave me closure on this “30 year long” chapter of my life, and hopefully helps anyone else out there who forgot their worth, lost their voice, or is trying to break an unhealthy cycle in their life."

Collapse )

And being the saint that she is a portion of the proceeds will go to mental health organization and nonprofit This Is My Brave which focuses on helping others to share their experiences with mental health openly.

Timothée Chalamet Won’t Give ‘Partial Response’ on Armie Hammer Abuse Claims

Time magazine tried to get a comment from Timothée Chalamet regarding the rape allegation against Armie Hammer. A woman had come forward in March accusing Hammer of rape. Chalamet and Hammer had formed a close friendship during filming of their movie Call Me By Your Name.

Time editor Sam Lansky writes: “[Chalamet] demurs when asked about co-star Armie Hammer, who has denied a widely publicized accusation of rape. ‘I totally get why you’re asking that,’ he says, ‘but it’s a question worthy of a larger conversation, and I don’t want to give you a partial response.'

Hammer has denied the rape allegation through his attorney, saying: “From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [Effie] — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory. [Effie’s] attention seeking and ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve.”

Shaun King Gets Roasted on Twitter for His New Profile Pic

Shaun King, he of several failed (ALLEGED!) scams and a very boring sweatshirt line, has a new Twitter profile pic. It's a sepia-toned photo of himself smoking weed and trying to look tough. In response, Black Twitter is absolutely roasting him.

Last time we checked in with Shaun, he had been called out by Tamir Rice's mother for allegedly taking money he had fundraised in her son's name, posed as a Black woman on social media, started a "private" fashion line of basic sweatshirts, and stolen images plus lied about his company's certifications.

Let's come up with some weed-related nicknames for Shaun. Connabis? Marijuanabeblack?

SCREAM First Look

"This is the fifth one… it's not Scream 5, though," returning star Courteney Cox said in an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. "This is Scream. The directors are incredible, they're making it absolutely…it's a new franchise. It's hip. It's scary. It's just a new Scream. It's not a reboot, it's not a remake, it's just a brand new launch. I think it's gonna be fantastic."

Netflix Approves NC-17 Cut of Ana de Armas Marilyn Monroe Film

Previous posts: 1, 2

After intense post-production battles, director Andrew Dominik will get final cut on his Ana de Armas-starring Marilyn Monroe fictional biopic “Blonde.” Netflix has allowed Dominik to release the film as is, uncensored and without any cuts, so it will be rated NC-17.

The film has gathered some controversy for allegedly depicting nudity, graphic rape, a talking aborted fetus and a “bloody menstrual cunnilingus” scene.

The film is based on the 2000 novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. Blonde was originally set to have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival before being abruptly pulled by Netflix. The film has no release date.

Nicki Minaj Defends Jesy Nelson During Instagram Live, Goes After Leigh-Anne of Little Mix

The drama continues...

Nicki Minaj and Jesy Nelson had an Instagram Live to promote their new single "Boyz."

It was a mess, as expected.

Minaj had no shame and went after Little Mix's Leigh-Anne: “If you want a solo career baby just say that... If that’s how you felt, why were you kiki’ing with her & being in videos with her for 10 years...”

Jesy also said that bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock made her aware of the Blackfishing allegations during the music video shoot for 'Sweet Melody.' “It’s just hard for me because I was in a group with two women of color for 9 years and it was never brought up to me up until the last music video...”

Timmy T Chalamet Was Told To Never To Do A Superhero Movie

As the cover star of TIME magazine this month, Chalamet revealed that he received an interesting piece of advice from one of his heroes. He refused to name the person who offered him said advice, so as to not get in trouble: “One of my heroes—I can’t say who or he’d kick my ass—he put his arm around me the first night we met and gave me some advice,” he says. [...]

“No hard drugs and no superhero movies.”

Any guesses as to who, ONTD?

Kirsten Dunst reacts to early Oscar buzz for her performance in "The Power of the Dog"

  • In a interview with Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, Kirsten Dunst reacted to the possibility of earning her first Academy Award nomination for "The Power of the Dog".

  • "If it happens, it couldn't come at a better time. It would mean so much to my family. So, it would be so fun to celebrate. They've been waiting for a long time. Just do it for my mother!" She joked. "Yeah... It's obviously something that would be awesome".

Update in Jennifer Hough vs Nicki Minaj/Kenny Petty Case

Nicki and Kenny had 60 days to respond, but i guess both were too busy being pieces of shit to take Jenniger's $20MM lawsuit seriously. As a reminder, Jennifer is suing these two assholes for intentional infliction of emotional distress, harassment, and witness intimidation. If the judge approves Jennifer's request, the lawsuit can move forward and a default judgement could given.

Many anticipate the sunset. Kevin Feige says Chloe Zhao takes the film in an entirely different direction which is debatable because Disney formula. But he also says the film will change the MCU entirely.

Apparently the reason the Eternals were chilling when Thanos did the snap was because [spoiler]they can only interfere when the Deviants are involved

TikToker Connor Wood Tells Pal Shawn Mendes That "It's Giving Cher"

Last month before the Met Gala, Shawn Mendes told his date Camila Cabello, "It's giving Cher," about her Met Gala "look." Since then, Stan Twitter has taken this clip for various memes and jokes. And yes, some at Mendes' own expense. But Shawn was a good sport when friend and TikToker Connor Wood (who?) posted a clip reciting the now infamous line, telling him that the beer they were drinking was, "kinda giving share Cher." Watch the clip below. Or don't.

I think we should all give a little more share @shawnmendes
