'VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE' Post-Credit Scene has leaked online and IT'S A GAMECHANGER!!

(Image is from Venom 1, calm down)

A lot of people attended a fan screening event of Venom and while the reviews are good, people are FREAKING OUT about that post credit scene.

So... what happens in the post credit scene? (for the ONTDdoesntRead crowd).

[Spoiler (click to open)]After killing Carnage, Venom tells Eddie that he can show him a few seconds of what his people have been doing, Eddie's environment changes and in his TV you can see the final moments of 'Spiderman: No Way Home' in which J.Jonah Jameson plays Mysterio's video saying that Spiderman is Tom Holland's Peter Parker. Venom licks the TV screen saying 'He looks tasty, Eddie', while Eddie looks confused.

The scene is a game changer since the Sony movies have not been considered part of the MCU, and this would be the first time the film acknowledges Tom's Peter, probably due to the Multiverse merging after the Loki series finale.

And people's reaction kinda confirmed it. Tom Hardy himself asked people not to reveal what happens in the post credits scene:

And some guys managed to record the audio of the post credits scene:

Lauren Ridloff on Becoming the MCU's First Deaf Superhero

  • Lauren Ridloff discusses her first feature film role, and how she had to show filmmakers how to work with deafness.

  • Ridloff, who has been deaf since birth, plays Makkari, the first deaf superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this years “Eternals”. Makkari, like the other Eternals, was created by the Celestials, God-like beings. She possesses the abilities of superspeed, superstrength and superhuman stamina.

  • In the comics, Ridloff’s character is a hulking, hearing white man. She’s not exactly sure what made the “Eternals” casting director Sarah Finn look at her and say, “Yes, Makkari!” but she’s of course glad it happened.

  • “It means my two boys, who are also deaf, will grow up in a world where there are superheroes who are deaf,” said Ridloff, whose children are 7 and 9. “It means they’ll be able to dream a bit more wildly.”

  • (OP will add a side-note that Clint Barton (Hawkeye) is canonically deaf in the comic books, but obviously Joss Whedon and Marvel weren't much concerned about representation back in 2012)

  • In a video call in August 2021 from her home in Atlanta, conducted with the assistance of an American Sign Language interpreter, Ridloff discussed how she got the role without auditioning, how venting to Jolie at a holiday party led to a solution for an irritating obstacle to deaf actors on set, and how Hollywood can be more inclusive for deaf individuals, both onscreen and behind the scenes.

  • "In some scenes, I had to face a wall. As a deaf person, how do you cue me? At one point, I was sharing my frustration with Angie — Angelina Jolie — at a holiday party after a day of shooting. And she immediately made a suggestion — why don’t we use a laser pen that special effects can easily erase? It was an “Aha, wow” moment. Whenever I’m looking at a wall, the interpreters would use a laser pen to make a circle on the wall — “rolling, rolling, rolling” — and once it went away that meant, “Action!”"

  • "Hollywood is finally figuring out why it’s so important to have representation, and now it’s more about how. That’s the part that’s more tricky. We need to have deaf writers and creative talent involved in the process of planning film projects from the beginning. When you have deaf experts within and on the stage, from the crew to makeup artists, it feels like that naturally leads to more authentic representation onscreen."

  • The full interview can be found here & Eternals is out 5 November 2021.

‘Drop Dead Diva’ Reboot: ‘Drop Dead Dave’ In Works At CBS From Josh Berman; Jamie Babbit To Direct

Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva is coming back, well - sorta. Not really.

Drop Dead Diva creator/executive producer Josh Berman is taking a different, gender-related spin on the body-swap genre with Drop Dead Dave, an hourlong series in development at CBS.

In Drop Dead Dave, a shallow, entitled, Gen Z lawyer Dave dies in a freak accident, his soul is transferred into the body of Rita, a successful but complicated Gen X attorney, forcing Dave to live as a woman and navigate an entirely new perspective on life, love and identity.

Drop Dead Diva, which ran on Lifetime for six seasons from 2008-14, followed the story of shallow model Deb, who suddenly dies in an accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, plus-sized attorney, Jane (Brooke Elliot).

While Drop Dead Diva focused on deconstructing the beauty myth and reinforcing body positivity, Drop Dead Dave will tackle sexual politics as well as gender identity in modern times.

Netflix Hit With $5M Suit Over “Sexism” Of ‘Queen’s Gambit’ Line About Soviet Chess Legend

Chess champion Nona Gaprindashvili has sued Netflix for defamation over a line in Queen's Gambit. The main fictional character is compared to her with "There’s Nona Gaprindashvili, but she’s the female world champion and has never faced men."

“The allegation that Gaprindashvili ‘has never faced men’ is manifestly false, as well as being grossly sexist and belittling,” Gaprindashvili’s 25-page complaint adds. “By 1968, the year in which this episode is set, she had competed against at least 59 male chess players (28 of them simultaneously in one game), including at least ten Grandmasters of that time, including Dragolyub Velimirovich, Svetozar Gligoric, Paul Keres, Bojan Kurajica, Boris Spassky, Viswanathan Anand and Mikhail Tal. The last three were also world champions during their careers.”

“Netflix brazenly and deliberately lied about Gaprindashvili’s achievements for the cheap and cynical purpose of ‘heightening the drama’ by making it appear that its fictional hero had managed to do what no other woman, including Gaprindashvili, had done,” her attorneys add. “Thus, in a story that was supposed to inspire women by showing a young woman competing with men at the highest levels of world chess, Netflix humiliated the one real woman trail blazer who had actually faced and defeated men on the world stage in the same era.”

Christy Carlson Romano Explains How She "Lost" The Princess Diaries Role To Anne Hathaway

Another day, another YouTube video by Christy Carlson Romano.

Christy explains that she never got the opportunity to audition for The Princess Diaries because she was too busy filming Even Stevens at the time. Literally, that's it. She prepared for the role, read lines with her TV mom, but ultimately was unable to make the audition and as we already know, AnnE got the role. That's the "tea" box literally left inside the cupboards that was never brewed.

Before that, when Christy was 14 she beat out Anne Hathaway for the lead role in a broadway musical or something. Says she felt bad for AnnE at the time because she gave what she described as, and I quote, "the worlds best audition."

Described her as a "sweetheart" and only had positive interactions with her.

Crashed Erik von Detten's 18th birthday party where she met Anne again.

Christy feels that if she had gotten that role, it would have made her career.

Mentions that she has a song in The Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack called "Let's Bounce."

Says she looks like Anne Hathaway. Idek.

Kelly Clarkson announces new single “Christmas Isn’t Cancelled (Just You)”

Kelly Clarkson announced the release date of her upcoming Christmas single “Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You)” as
Sept 23rd. She is rumored to be releasing a full Christmas album. I’m waiting for the official announcement on that though because it’s not unusual for her to drop a random Christmas single every now and then, but she still only has one full Christmas album.

Twitter calls out Simu Liu for Men's Rights Asians past

Slate's Aaron Mak wrote an article on the anti-black, incel MRAsian subculture on reddit:

Which led actor Edward Hong to chime in with something I think a lot of ONTDers already suspected:

Hong locked his account shortly after posting a series of tweets calling out Simu Liu. Unfortunately didn't a screenshot before he went private, but I did get the above before it was deleted. The "Fuck it. The person in question is Simu Liu," was right after a tweet noting how the article "understandably" left out one of the biggest celebrity ringleaders of the mrazn redditors. ETA: He's unlocked his account now. Per github tho, Simu only posted in the big mrazn sub (r/aznidentity) a handful of times, so calling him a ringleader is a huge exaggeration. Doesn't take away from all the API women who have called him/his crowd out over the years, but figured I'd clarify before the Marvel stans think this is some 4chan disinfo campaign.

Writer Roslyn Talusan had something to say as well:

Collapse )

Summary: Simu Liu was once part of the toxic/sexist/racist r/aznidentity subreddit. Unfortunately a lot of the receipts have been scrubbed, but API women have been calling him out for a long time. EDIT: according to"author":"nippedinthebud","resultSize":100%7D , Simu did not actually post to r/aznidentity more than a handful of times, so the characterization of him as a 'celebrity ringleader' of the sub is a major exaggeration. No defense for the pedo stuff or the racism on twitter though.

Priyanka Chopra Comments on "The Activist" Changes

Actress, activist, and Narendra Modi stan Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram to save face support the changes CBS has made to the show "The Activist". Originally pitched as a competition show where activists would compete to "make meaningful change" in areas of health, education and the environment, huge online backlash prompted CBS to change the format of the show from competition to docuseries. Chopra, one of the three co-hosts alongside Usher and Julianne Hough, said she was "moved" by the criticism and that she was sorry for her initial involvement. In Chopra's own words, "The intention was always to bring attention to the people behind the ideas and highlight the actions and impact of the causes they support tirelessly. I'm happy to know that in this new format, their stories will be the highlight, and I'm proud to collaborate with partners who have their ear to the ground and know when it's time to hit pause and re-evaluate."

Jessica Chastain is promoting her Tammy Faye movie and Antoni Porowski is promoting his new cookbook. ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Book Details “HR Issues” Behind Patrick Dempsey’s Exit

source 2

How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey’s Anatomy by Lynette Rice has the scoop on why he really left the show

executive producer James D. Parriott:

“There were HR issues. It wasn’t sexual in any way. He sort of was terrorizing the set. Some cast members had all sorts of PTSD with him. He had this hold on the set where he knew he could stop production and scare people. The network and studio came down, and we had sessions with them.”

“He didn’t like the inconvenience of coming in every day and working. He and Shonda were at each other’s throats.”

'Brooklyn 99' takes aim for the 'Perfect Goodbye' in series finale

The hour-long series finale of critically-acclaimed and fan fave comedy 'Brooklyn 99' aired tonight - or weirdly at 7pm EST because it was per-empted by fucking Thursday night football whatever.

Spoilers under cut with some key things that happened...

[NINE-NINE!]-- the entire finale's plot was around one final group heist game, but Holt and Amy, who announced they were promoted and leaving the 99 earlier this season, were using the heist as a ruse to surprise the lot with their big goodbye.
-- then Jake drops the bomb that he too is leaving the 99 and quitting the NYPD (for his son and family's future), so the heist was part of his ploy to say goodbye too
-- surprise guests include GINA LINETTI (yes Chelsea came back) in top trolling form, Pimento, Amy's annoying ex Ted, Fred Armisen, Tim Meadows as the weird cannibal, Andy Samberg's real life wife Joanna Newsom trashing Jake, and others
-- the person who won the heist was... Hitchcock, who was only ever shown via video chat this entire season. He pops back to the precinct one last time to win and fuck with everyone
-- Terry applies and is promoted to Captain of the 99
-- ends with beautiful moments between friends, including Amy and Rosa, and especially Jake and Holt
-- there's a fun epilogue, a year later, where the old 99 team bursts into one of Captain Terry's meetings to announce another heist is happening. The final words are, of course, a unanimous cheer of 'NINE-NINE!'

Y: The Last Man debuts first three episodes on Hulu

[Spoiler (click to open)]

- Based on the 2002 comic series, all animals with a Y chromosome die en masse, very suddenly. The surviving women/ trans men/non-binary people have to contend with a world where half the population is suddenly gone. Yorick, a young man in his 20s, and his pet monkey, Ampersand, appear to be the only animals with a Y chromosome to survive.

- The FX series has updated the comic’s sex and gender politics for 2021, so it includes trans men from the jump and in later episodes will delve into biological sex and the Y chromosome.

- Includes several prominent new characters, like Nora Brady, an advisor to the former president, and Amber Tamblyn’s Kimberly Campbell Cunningham (who is modeled off of Meghan McCain and Ivanka Trump).

- Appropriately, the titular “last man” is incredibly self-involved and annoying.

- Agent 355 is a standout in the comics and looks to be the highlight of this series as well.
