Hey! We're Bringing Back the ONTD Movie Watch Parties

Back by the demand of eight people, your local assistant hall monitor, is going to reignite the Watch Party posts. These lovely posts were originally done by lyrabjadesss and now making its resurgence to be ruined by yours truly!

However, OP would like you to decide what day you'd prefer to have these watch parties since we have FFAs all weekend, we'll stick with whatever day gets the most votes in this poll. OP will set up the new Teleparty (the artist formerly known as Netflix Party) extension and send out the link for all parties to enjoy so OP will be the host for each meeting to make it easier. Teleparty also works with Hulu and Disney!

Instructions to install Teleparty are here (you may already have this extension installed and OP is just your old auntie trying to learn tech)

This poll is closed.

When y'all wanna watch and talk shit about movies?

After designating a day, next week will be the first watch party! If you have a suggestion for a movie, please put in the comments below and if you agree, add a +1! Ideally stick to Netflix for recommendations as that is usually the most popular/most accessible app.

Sharon Stone Weighs In On Cancel Culture

Stone shared her thoughts on cancel culture.

“I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen. I think when people say things that they feel and mean, and it’s offensive to you, it’s a brilliant opportunity for everyone to learn and grow and understand each other. We all come from different ages, different cultures, different backgrounds, different things, and have had different experiences, different traumas, different upbringings, different parents, different religious backgrounds, different everything. Give people an opportunity to discuss things before you wipe out their entire person over a statement or a comment or a misunderstanding stop being so small. The world is bigger. People have done so much more than one sentence. Like grow up. Grow some empathy.”

BAFTA Diversity Scheme Under Fire After Actress Says She Was Called "Exotic Talent"

BAFTA initiative is aimed at improving diversity in the U.K.'s film and TV industry.

India Eva Rae described the initiative as a "PR exercise," with participants merely recruited to help "clean up" BAFTA's image around issues of diversity.
In one meeting, Rae said that a casting directors described her as an "exotic talent," saying that she "couldn't understand the English coming out of your mouth."
Rae claims she was told not to report the incident. "This mentor told me and other members of the group that we will never work again if we speak up,"

BAFTA described concerns raised by Rae as "one isolated incident," adding that it would "investigate urgently."

A Very Juicy Oral History of “Lady Marmalade”

[Some tidbits...]

Missy Elliott: We wanted to showcase each of the “four badass chicks from the Moulin Rouge,” bringing together their different skills and personas into a true celebration of diversity, talent, and female unity.

Christina Aguilera: I think we all brought something unique to the table. The message was awesome, because every woman wants to feel good in their own skin. Every woman wants to own their sexuality—whether you want to put on a corset or not.

Tina Landon (choreographer): When we met as a group, I was a little nervous. These are four big, individual, lots-of-personality artists in one room at one time at the height of their careers. I do remember there was a little bit of tension. I think it’s pretty public knowledge that there was tension between Christina and Pink.

Mýa: It was a moment that stood out in that era. If you wanted to say anything bad about it, that would maybe just be a reflection of a boring life. I would never have thought in a million years working with Patti LaBelle would be a part of my career.

Patti LaBelle: ...all these girls are my little girls. Mýa and Pink and Kim and Christina, of course—the singing fool. I call her a baby Patti. That little girl, she threw down

In a recent Instagram live he talked about various topics, like his upcoming album and his promotions with SuperM.

He then revealed thatt he will be enlisting soon.

He also explained why he was hesitant in sharing the news, explaining: "Rather than just telling you, I thought 'would the EXO-Ls have to wait endlessly?' and there are some who were EXO-Ls for ten years or more, so I didn't want to tell you to wait without preparing anything. And I didn't want to tell you guys beforehand and make you feel restless."

Upon hearing the news, many EXO fans were surprised and sad, however, fans were happy and thankful towards the singer as he had worried about his fans and prepared an album before joining the military.

Nickelodeon will not longer air two "Spongebob" episodes over "concerns" and just bad timing

The episode you're probably more familiar with is "Mid-Life Crustacian", when Spongebob and Patrick try to help Mr. Krabs have fun. One of the scenes involves them breaking into a house and stealing some underwear from his mother. He didn't know it was his mother's house though.

Still don't remember? Well, "I guess you're going to miss.....the panty raid." It's actually been out of rotation since 2018.

"Kwarantined Krab," also appears to have been shelved due to you at home can probably guess. (This is the bad timing option)

You cannot buy them individually, or stream them on Paramount+, but they are involved in a digital season set.

29 Plot Twists Even Bestselling Authors Didn’t See Coming

  • Lisa Unger about My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite: “Such a rich, darkly funny story about two sisters — one of them, true to the title, a serial killer. But it’s not her fault! They were asking for it… or were they? How far would you go to protect your family? The answer is complicated and the telling so engrossing.”

  • Peter Straub about In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware: “I started In a Dark, Dark Wood on an airplane, kept dipping into it whenever I was left alone, devoured another big chunk on the flight home, and after that surrendered myself to it until the last revelation had bloomed, the final surprise had exploded, and the bittersweet conclusive turn had folded the final page.”

  • Harriet Tyce about The Eighth Girl by Maxine Mei-Fung Chung: “Intricately plotted and sensitively written, The Eighth Girl draws the reader into the dark heart of London’s underworld with relentless tension until the shock of the final reveal.”

  • Gillian Flynn about The Dinner by Herman Koch: “The Dinner begins with drinks and dark satire, and goes stealthily and hauntingly from there. It’s chilling, nasty, smart, shocking, and unputdownable.”

  • Flynn Berry about The Good Son by You-Jeong Jeong: “A gripping, atmospheric, edge-of-your-seat thriller, The Good Son is moody and dark in the best way, with an unreliable narrator you won’t soon forget. I loved it.”
