OP Has Been Disengaging, Here's a Quick Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Discussion Post

It's Black History Month, so OP is avoiding all things regarding the Mormon church but she is catching up with RHOSLC on Saturday morning and finally... some good fucking food (OP is at the Vegas trip episodes). Anyway this is a post for those caught up and ready to discuss finales and reunions. Now I'm staring to see why there's a three-part reunion. Jen still hasn't taken accountability, that green polyester Brady Bunch jumpsuit - girl JUST SAY NO! Also doesn't Jen seem like the Housewife who devoured all the other franchises and is doing a cookie cutter textbook thing, though I think a lot of her outbursts are genuine.

Netflix’s Cecil hotel documentary revisits Elisa Lam’s mysterious case

"I have arrived in Laland [sic] and there is a monstrosity of a building next to the place I'm staying," Elisa Lam wrote in January 2013. "When I say monstrosity, mind you, I'm saying as in gaudy. But then again, it was built in 1928, hence the art-deco theme. So yes, it IS classy, but then since it's LA, it went on crack."

Her disappearance further complicated by the fact that she was staying at the Cecil Hotel, a once-opulent Beaux-Arts building with a dark reputation. With more than a dozen guests ending their lives on the property and a possible victim of the night stalker, adding to the hotel’s haunted reputation.

CCTV footage of her behaving bizarrely caught the attention of online sleuths who thought it was proof of paranormal activity. At the time, the Canadian student was on a solo trip but was reported missing 5 days later, never seen alive again.

A new Netflix docuseries, Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel, attempts to untangle the truth from the speculation about Lam's final days, including the role the 97-year-old property may have played in her death and the conspiracy theories around it.

The Bon Appetit saga pt. 2

If you missed the news, the podcast Reply All is releasing a series of episodes about the conflict surrounding Bon Appetit, which imploded last summer (the post for part 1 is here). They've now released their second episode.

I'll be including this recap in every post just for ppl who want to get refreshed on the drama, so apologies to those whom this is redundant for! Last summer, Bon Appetit staffer Sohla El-Waylly revealed she was only making $50,000 despite her culinary expertise, which kicked off an insurrection in the test kitchen over pay disparities between white staffers and people of color, and who was being promoted. El-Waylly also demanded that EIC Adam Rapoport be fired after food journalist Tammie Teclemariam resurfaced a racist photo of him in brownface, which led to other staffers of color to reveal other instances of him being a racist fuckwit.

Here's a description for the second episode:

Chapter 2, “Glass Office”: Years later, in 2018, a new wave of people of color arrives at Bon Appétit. And when their white bosses don’t understand the problems they’re facing, those people will decide to fix the place themselves.

Enlisted’s Rear D is reuniting on March 6th for a charity reading and Q/A!

Collapse )

If you loved Enlisted, like my family did and still does (my husband and I reference it daily), I hope you’ll consider donating and watching.

What were your favorite episodes, scenes, or quotes, ONTD? I have so many, but one of my favorites is the Toy Story 3 scene from “Randy, Get Your Gun” and the mustache moment from “Prank War”. We loved how much heart this show truly had, and we were looking forward to more seasons...

If you’ve never had an opportunity to catch Enlisted, you can find it on iTunes, Vudu, and other services.

You also get a cool gift for donating at a certain level too, but I don’t know what the gift is. It could be a Challenge Coin, which we have, and it’s pretty cool.

Sorry I don’t have a cool GIF. It wouldn’t upload properly.

Fans urge David Boreanaz, Alyson Hannigan to publicly address Joss Whedon claims & more updates

Fans are urging David Boreanaz and Alyson Hannigan to publicly speak out after their costars Charisma Carpenter and Michelle Trachtenberg accused Joss Whedon of misconduct.

Both Boreanaz and Hannigan have stayed active on Instagram but silent on the scandal. Fellow Buffy/Angel actors Seth Green, Alexis Denisof, and Amy Acker have also remained silent on their longtime costar's allegations. Actually, quite like Ray Fisher's costars, excluding Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot.

Joss Whedon has yet to comment.

Are these update posts okay or are y'all already sick of them?

Love Angelina Jolie’s movies? Of course not. Why, exactly, is Angelina Jolie so famous?

The Guardian says it’s been years since Angelina was in a film worth watching, but she has made being a celebrity its own art form

Angelina's cover of British Vogue this month provides The Guardian with an opportunity to discuss what might be the most urgent question of our era: why is Jolie so famous?

They say Maleficent and Girl, Interrupted are her most famous movies.

She was most famous between 2005-2017, but she made movies not worth watching, yet Jolie was probably the most A-list US actress in the world.

Jolie is largely famous for her personal life

Now, she is well ahead of today’s more wholesome vibe, talking about the importance of family.

In her Vogue interview 85% of the questions are about her family, 13% are about her humanitarian work, and 1% is about her forthcoming appearance in a Marvel movie. There are no references to previous films, no casual mention of iconic roles

The Guardian doesn't hold it against Jolie, they say she's brilliant at what she does, which is being a celebrity.

Jolie is famous in the vein of Zsa Zsa Gabor, a woman who certainly acted, but was famous, ultimately, for being both over the top and completely fabulous.

ONTD, is Angelina Jolie the A list most famous actress with the weakest filmography?

Britney Spears' ex Kevin Federline's attorney says star's conservatorship provides 'protection'

Vincent Kaplan, Federline's family attorney, said that Britney was offered 'different layers of protections' as a conservatee.

"I think there are many different layers of protection for Britney Spears as a conservatee, and I don’t think anyone should be worried that in some way it’s being abused for persons who have control with a conflict of interest...," Kaplan said. "I don’t think that’s a valid — it’s a concern, but I don’t think it’s one that’s founded in actuality."

Jamie Spears has controlled 39-year-old Spears' finances since 2008

'Prior to the conservatorship being placed over Ms. Spears, her finances were in a terrible state of disarray, there were multiple lawsuits around for breaches of contract and things like that, and now based on what I've seen in the press, her estate is north of $50, $60 million, so from that standpoint it seems to me the conservatorship has benefited her financially in that regard,' Kaplan said. 'The tradeoff as far as how it impacts her personal freedom or creativity, I can't speak on that.'
