ONTD Original: Best Original Movie Songs that DIDN'T Win an Oscar

So, after watching the Bee Gees documentary on HBO Max (special shout out to our indie film curator scriptedending), I realized the TRAVESTY that was the Bee Gees not even being nominated for 1978's Best Original Song, let alone winning. To be eligible for best original song, the song must be a completely original work, released exclusively for the use of the film prior to any other use. I've compiled a list of the Best Original Movie songs that did not win Oscars. This list is based purely off of staying power, as in, songs that still get stuck in our heads randomly and still get radio plays on KLUV stations.

All The Stars (Kendrick Lamar ft. SZA) - Black Panther (2019 Academy Awards)

I mean, it went up against Lady Gaga's "Shallow", so did it ever really have a chance of winning? Probably not. But that doesn't mean the song didn't deserve it. It even lost at the Grammys competing with Childish Gambino's "This is America" for Record and Song of the Year.

The New York Times has retracted its 2018 "Caliphate" podcast

Caliphate was a critically acclaimed podcast about canadian Shehroze Chaudhry joining the Islamic State and executing people in Syria

Journalists Rukmini Callimachi did extensive interviews with him

Canadian authorities now say that he made it all up and the NYT conducted their own internal investigation

They concluced that the series does not meet the NYT's standards for accuracy or fact-checking. They can't even prove that Shehroze Chaudhry ever was in Syria.

There have been doubts from editors about certain documents from the start, but executive editor Dean Baquet stood behind Callimachi

Baquet now: "When we get it wrong, I want people to understand we're going to talk about it. And what I'm hoping is that by talking about it, people will understand that we want to win their trust. And we want them to believe what we report."

Jacob Roloff says he was molested by former Little People, Big World Producer

In an Instagram post, Jacob Roloff claims he was molested by Chris Cardamone, a former Little People, Big World producer.  According to him, he first started contemplating about a statement when the producer texted him years later in November 2015. As for why he waited until 2020 to share, Jacob said, "I choose to disclose it now as it remains a traumatic memory that needs to be exorcised of any further power over my development."
The producer, named in his statement, worked on the show from 2007-2010 & co-authored a cookbook with Amy Roloff.

Fetch The Sledgehammer: Fiona Apple calls out the Grammys for nominating Dr. Puke

In a new interview, Fiona Apple says she was excited [for a moment] to be included with the all-women Best Rock Performance nominees. Her excitement fizzled when she remembered the academy's complicity and hypocrisy [Dr. L*ke is up for Record of the Year for his pseudonymous work as Tyson Trax on Doja Cat’s “Say So”].

I keep going back to them putting Kesha on stage like, “We believe you”—and I believe her—then two years later, fucking Tyson Trax. Not to go back to that word, but it’s bullshit. The feeling of wanting to celebrate with these women was genuine. But I should have that feeling anyway. I don’t know if anybody who’s nominated can help having the thought: What would I do If I won? My vision was that I would just get up there with a sledgehammer and I wouldn’t say anything, I would take the Grammy and smash it into enough pieces to share and I would invite all the ladies up. My second thought was I wonder if I can get all these ladies to boycott this shit because of Dr L*ke.

Fiona would also like to record a covers album "soon". In her recent P4K interview, she mentioned working on a new cover.

'Yellowjackets' ordered to series at Showtime.

Showtime gave a series order to the survival drama “Yellowjackets,” slated to premiere in 2021. Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson created and executive produced the one-hour drama series, which will star Melanie Lynskey, Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe nominee Juliette Lewis, Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress. The series also features Ella Purnell, Sammi Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Steven Krueger, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

“Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”

Mexicans troll Katy Perry’s new sandals line, become viral

The “never really over” singer, released a new line of sandals called “the jelly”, a few days ago and Mexicans instantly made fun of them because they look like the plastic sandals your abuelita bought you at the tianguis if you behaved well when you were a kid.

The comments soon turned into typical messages that you’d see on local buy-and-sell Facebook groups and as if users were haggling on wish/Shein groups, making the sandals go viral among Spanish speaking social media users.

The sandals in question (you need a decent level of Spanish to understand, but the comments are hilarious):

TikTok Star Charli D’Amelio and Family to Star in Hulu Docuseries “The D’Amelio Show”

TikTok sisters Charli and Dixie D’Amelio are getting their own reality show on Hulu alongside their conservative parents Marc and Heidi.

“The D’Amelio Show” will premiere on Hulu in 2021. The 8-episode docuseries will follow “the first family of TikTok” (lmao) as they “navigate their sudden rise to fame, all the while still staying true to their family values.”

“We are excited to be joining the Hulu family with a unique behind the scenes look into our life,” said Marc D’Amelio. “We’ve always been a very close family, but this experience has brought us even closer and we’re really excited to share a glimpse of our lives with the world. Many people create impressions of us based off of short content, a few minutes or even seconds. But now, we’re looking forward to sharing a side that you likely don’t get to see on our social channels.”

Are you looking forward to seeing this family be rude and disrespectful to their staff?
