Mahershala Ali Explains Why He Won't Do Sex Scenes in Movies

As a guest on Rapper Common's Podcast Mind Power Mixtape, Mahershala Ali (46) states that "simulating a love scene would go against his Islamic religion".

The topic came up as he was talking about his role in the 2008 film The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Ali talks about getting a call from his agent about getting the role of Tizzy saying:

So my old agent called me and said, ‘Mahershala, you got the part.’ And I said, ‘There’s just one thing…There is that one sex scene where they kiss…If there’s a sex scene, I can’t do it.’

He added, I don’t do simulated sex.

Ali did accept the role and explained to Common how director David Fincher managed to construct the scene while still respecting Ali's beliefs. Ali stating:

Taraji and I begin to kiss, and we fall out of the frame…It wasn’t clear if [Fincher] was trying to have like some bumping and grinding … which I doubt he was. But for me even … at that time, 15 years ago, I was still like, ‘OK, I can only go up to this point,’ just because of — just trying to hold a space of respect for my religion.

Man goes viral on TikTok for claiming there’s never 2 good looking best friends

An audio that's been all over TikTok is the line "I ain't never seen two pretty best friends. It's always one of them gotta be ugly". People were initially offended by it, which contributed to the sound becoming a staple on the app.

The video was filmed by 24-year-old Jordan Scott, college student and a model.

People have been responding to his video a lot and using his sound in a variety of ways; some have responded with a video with their own best friend as a clapback. Others have taken the phrase and used it to rickroll people in unrelated videos, making the sound viral.

Are you the ugly or the pretty friend, ONTD?

Sarah Michelle Gellar gets a Charmed recipe as Shannen Doherty Slays a virtual Thanksgiving

-Think virtual Thanksgiving doesn’t actually involve food? Caught entirely unaware until your mom called you to ask if you were making her famous turkey pot pies? Well, then you have more in common with Sarah Michelle Gellar than you even realized!

Not wanting to let her mom down, even from afar, Sarah and her best friend, Shannen Doherty had to act quickly. Luckily, Kroger has them covered! Just a few simple taps and the fresh ingredients were on their way, and their moms didn’t even notice a thing (and Shannen may or may not have picked up an entire pie and ate it like a sandwich). Thanksgiving may be a little different this year, but some things never change.

Album Covers Reminiscent of Soul Food Classics Part II - ONTD Original

Hello OP is back hungry again. For the upswing into the holiday season, she thought she would do a part deux of the soul album covers that remind her of food. Here I think of traditional soul food dishes and pick a legendary soul/blues/ R&B artist whose album cover reminds me of that food. Oh yeah, their songs are pretty good too.

Dish: Red Velvet Cake
Album: Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, and Delivered

A sweet dish for a sweet Beatles cover. Wonder was only 19 when he recorded this song and co-wrote this album. OP was still just eating shredded cheese out the bag watching Law & Order SVU.

ONTD, Do you call your significant other Daddy/Mummy?

Mo'Nique calls her husband daddy because he is raising her. If this sounds like deja vu, it is because she had said this before back when she had a podcast with her husband, now she is saying it interviews with other people. Mo'Nique was a guest on "under construction" - Tamar Braxton's prodcast. A concerned listener posted a clip of Mo'Nique talking about her relationship dynamic with her husband:-

Mo'Nique: when poeple say to me, why do you call him daddy?
Tamar bursts out laughing #awkward
Tamar (laughing): why do you call him Daddy Mo?
Mo'Nique: and I tell them it is because he raises me. He's given me everything that my father did not. And when I tell you sometime it can be so goddamn embarassing and it is just me and him in a room...see there ain't nobody else in the room and he's had to say somethings to me Tamar that's taken me to my knees and then he will be me back up and then he will say "is anything I'm saying ot you not true? And I'll say "everything you're saying to me is true, but right now *n-word*, my ego, I need you to walk away because the crazy bitch inside of me, she getting ready to say something and mess up the moment, I know she coming
Tamar laughs
Mo'Nique: she come, she's ready to come out the basement
Tamar: yeah, yeah
Mo'Nique: and then he loved all of us through it, he loved all of us through it, so when I say to black women, please if you have a good one, let your guard down and let it happen, and you gon hear some shit that's going to shock you, cause when you got a king, he's got to prepare you to be the queen
Tamar: yeah.
Mo'Nique: and so many of us ain't got the queen training, so when we got the king, we don't know what to do with this shit. we don't cause now we think you're trying to boss me... *n-word* you're trying to boss
*clip ends*

Michael J Fox: ‘Every step now is a frigging math problem, so I take it slow’

Michael J. Fox recently sat down for an interview with The Guardian (via video chat) to talk about his life and career. A few major points:

  • He is now 59 years old, which is considered to be the average age for a Parkinson's diagnosis. He has been living with the disease for 30 years.

  • He had to undergo surgery in 2018 to remove a tumour on his spine, which was actually unrelated to Parkinson's. One day, when he was alone at home, he fell over and smashed his upper arm so badly it required 19 screws. The recovery from the surgery was extremely traumatic because Parkinson's made it difficult for his fragile spinal cord to cope with the aftermath, and he fell into a depression:  “There is no way to put a shine on my circumstance,” [...] “Have I oversold optimism as a panacea, commodified hope? In telling other patients, ‘Chin up! It will be OK’, did I look to them to validate my optimism? Is it because I needed to validate it myself? Things don’t always turn out. Sometimes things turn shitty. My optimism is suddenly finite.”

His new book is called "No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality". The interview is long but worth reading.

ONTD Original: 7 'Totally Not Autistic' Female Characters That Are 'Definitely Autistic'

Disclaimer: I decided to do this ONTD Original after reading many misconceptions regarding autism in recent posts on here. Just so we're clear, I'm a Black woman who have been diagnosed with the Asperger syndrome in adulthood. Asperger syndrome (or Asperger's) is the high-functioning form of autism which means that I can work, live, engage in normal activities (such as memorizing lines) just like a neurotypical person would. However, I exhibit autistic traits in social settings that are often misunderstood as "quirkness", "social awkwarness" or "shyness/introversion".

Most autistic women do not know they are autistic. Autism is severely under-diagnosed among women due to the common misconceptions people have on autism, misconceptions which are based on the way men exhibit autistic traits. Just so you know: men and women do not exhibit autism in the same way and for decades psychologists didn't even think women could have autism! Autism in women is harder to detect and harder to diagnose and you will see why through this post. Of course, I'm not a mental healthcare professional so this is just my unprofessional opinion based on myself and the different literature I've read regarding autism in women.
Remember: autism is a spectrum, while all autistic women exhibit the same signs of autism, they're all different and manifest autism differently!

There might be some mild spoilers in this post too!

Of course, this is just my opinion, not the truth!

Alan Rickman’s diaries to be published

Alan Rickman’s diaries that span 25 years of his career are set to be published in 2022.

Rickman wrote the diaries with the intent that they would be published. The diaries are described as being “anecdotal, indiscreet, witty, gossipy and utterly candid, they make compulsive reading and offer a peerless insight into the daily life of a remarkable actor who was as beloved in the US as he surely was in the UK.”

Christine and the Queens Shares a Stunning Performance for The Late Late Show

I love this song and am very biased in my determination that it deserves more attention, but truly, if nothing else, please appreciate Chris' always-incredible live vocals and the gorgeous setting.

FOUR YEARS AGO, Dominic West and Lily James put on a very flirty display for a photoshoot.

I know this is old news but I'm in fucking quarantine and whatever, this mess will have to hold all of us gossip-starved thirsty bitches over until Pfizer injects its goodness into my veins, OK?

Anyway, it was just discovered these two motherfucks apparently did a photoshoot for a magazine spread four years ago which, as it turns out, was a sign of things yet to transpire (or that were, perhaps, already transpiring?)

Apparently, during the lunch at Claridge's for the photoshoot in 2016, Miss Lily James confessed: 'I've been waiting five years for a date with Dominic.'
