Tana Mongeau "apologizes" for racism

Youtube flop Tana Mongeau has been under fire (again) by several influencers accusing her of more racist behavior.

[What basically happened]Tana accused by fellow youtuber nessa15 in a video she uploaded titled "Dear Tana Mongeau" where she reveals that she tried multiple times to befriend her due to them both sharing the same manager for their Youtube channels and because she thought they would have a lot in common based off her videos but Tana constantly gave her the cold shoulder and even though they started off good as friends, it later became apparent that Tana was excluding her from her friend group with the excuse that Vanessa (nessa15) was talking shit behind her back to other people when nessa claims that never happened. Tana even went so far as to blacklist her to multiple other influencers and make posts and live streams about her, making her seem like a backstabbing liar.
Vanessa later found out that both their manager and Tana were talking about her in a negative way, basically saying she's too much and too loud and that she's too hard to work with. They were purposely excluding her the whole time and Vanessa expressed that she felt this had racist undertones to it because Tana and her manager had otherwise no reason to do this. Vanessa also expressed that this whole mess made her feel depressed and discouraged for a very long time, as her name was being dragged by thousands of Tana fans for no reason at all.

I Accidentally Became A Meme: Overly Attached Girlfriend

Overly Attached Girlfriend is a fictional character and an Internet meme originating in a viral YouTube video published on June 6, 2012. The character was created by Laina Morris.

The video was a submission to a contest held by Justin Bieber who challenged fans to create a "Girlfriend" counterpart to his hit song "Boyfriend". The video, which satirized elements of the Bieber song that have been perceived as clingy, featured Morris staring at the camera with a fixed smile while singing about Facebook-stalking her boyfriend and other themes.

Her video became viral through Reddit and Laina decided to start a career on YouTube that became successful with more than 1,285,312 subscribers and more than 144,885,832 views. Her username is still "wzr0713" officially, but her display name now identifies her as "Laina".

Laina announced in 2019 her departure from YouTube and posted a video on July 24, 2019 detailing that she is no longer going to make videos and is quitting YouTube altogether. She talked about her own personal story with depression and anxiety that went on behind the scenes off camera. Prior to this announcement, she had only posted one video to YouTube in the previous two years.

ONTD Original: a look back at the teen movies of 2004

A few weeks ago (actually maybe this was months ago, who knows time isn't real) I was bored and poking around letterboxd. I ended up reading user reviews for one of my favorite movies, Saved! The review that stood out the most to me was one where the user offhandedly mentioned that Saved and Mean Girls both came out in 2004. That made me curious about what other films came out that year, and my letterboxd log revealed that 2004 was a pretty good year for teen movies. Let's take a look back at some of that year's biggest releases.

A few notes before we start

Raise Your Voice (October 2004):

Stop me if you've heard this one before: nice, blonde every-girl feels like an outsider at school and through a series of misadventures she falls in love, finds her place, and wins everyone over. It's a forgettable movie, that touches on grief in a way that makes it a bit more poignant than a lot of Hilary's teen movie fare. But let's be real we only remember it for the choir room scene.

Marshmello recruits Demi Lovato for "OK Not to Be OK"

Producer Marshmello dropped his latest single today, a collaboration with pop powerhouse Demi Lovato entitled "OK Not to Be OK." The release coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day, organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented, in collaboration with the non-profit Hope for the Day.

In a tweeted statement, Marshmello wrote, "Suicide prevention starts with a conversation we're not having with our mental health due to stigma. The first step to breaking that silence is dispelling stigmas of fear, judgment and shame about our internal experiences. We achieve that by proclaiming it's OK not to be OK."

-Berry on her Oscar win. Berry"It's one of my biggest heartbreak's.The morning after, I thought'Wow, I was chosen to open a door'. And then to have no one...I question,'Was that an important moment, or was that an important moment for me?'I wanted to believe it was so much bigger then me,it felt so much bigger than me,mainly because I knew others should have been there before me and they weren't ".

-Berry says there was supposed to be a spin-off for her role as Jinx from "Die another day", but producers balked at the $80 million budget.

-Berry on "Catwoman" Berry:"People said to me. (Berry noticed warning signs early on.) Berry:"The story didn't feel quite right.I remember having that argument:'Why can't Catwoman save the world like Batman or Superman ? Why is she just saving women from a face cream that cracks their face off?' but I was just the actor for hire. I wasn't the director. I had very little say over that."

Berry on "Monster's Ball": Berry"It was little movie that had a love scene, that, I guess, was explicit in the minds of some people. And I was getting paid nothing. They thought if your going to do something like that, get a sh**load of money. But that's not why I'm doing it. I didn't feel it was exploitative. It was necessary for the character."

-Berry on Beauty being a double edge sword. Berry:"That is a blessing and a curse.People always wanting to see my physical self first, and then some will argue.' That's what got you in the door.' But even if that got me in the door. I've had to fight that image of being sterotyped, fight to be seen as an artist"

20 years later, Halle Berry is still conflicted about what her Oscar win represents. “I wanted to believe it was so much bigger than me"

In retrospect, she says it was naive to think a statue would change anything

Why “Among Us” Suddenly Got So Popular

“Among Us,” an online and local party game set in space which was first released in 2018, has recently hit 1.5 million simultaneous players online, according to the game's developers InnerSloth.

“Among Us” is about a spaceship crew prepping for takeoff that discovers that one (or 2 or even 3!) of their crew members is an imposter who is secretly planning to murder them all. The objective is for the crewmates to win by completing all of their assigned tasks or figuring out who the imposter is and voting them off of the ship. Meanwhile, the impostor can sabotage the ship itself and other players.

The game, which has been compared to Werewolf and Mafia, is currently ranked third on Twitch with 145,638 viewers in the past week. Its surge in popularity comes greatly in part to Twitch and several YouTubers uploading videos playing with their friends and other popular YouTubers.

The game can host between 4 to 10 players and includes three different maps, two aboard a spaceship and one on a planet near a volcano. This game of deceit is fairly easy to pick up on and rounds only last between 5 to 15 minutes.

It’s currently available across PC through Steam, iOS and Android.

“Among Us 2” is currently under development. Maybe it’ll also come to consoles?

Big Brother 22 Contestants Slammed for Racism + Albeism

For those of you who haven't been following the 22nd season of Big Brother, there have been quite a few dust-ups recently, from Christmas Abbott's racist nomination of both Bayleigh Dayton & Da'Vonne Rogers as well as her racist rants about said nomination (which culminated in a fight in which Christmas lost her temper and looked like a total asshole), Tyler Crispen allegedly using the Black Lives Matter movement to "look good on TV,", to the current scandal that curiously made TMZ headlines over the others: contestants openly mocking and belittling their fellow houseguest, Ian Terry.

Terry won the 14th season of the show after going up against Dan Gheesling in a final two. Throughout S22, the second American All-Stars cast, Terry has been forthcoming with the house about his autism diagnosis. He has explained to his fellow houseguests that he was regularly mocked online before and after his appearance on S14, and went into the many ways in which this understandably caused him emotional distress.

And we are.

Despite supposed "sensitivity training" for houseguests this season and multiple warnings from producers, Christmas Abbott, Dani Briones, Nicole Franzel and Memphis Garrett are currently under fire for making fun of Ian on the live-feeds, accusing him of "using his disability" to get ahead in the game and laughing at him and his mannerisms.

Perhaps the worst part was when Memphis Garrett attributed Ian to the character of Danny in The Shining, claiming he'd been having nightmares of Ian standing over his bed saying "REDRUM." All of this atrocious and frankly triggering behavior has prompted many fans to boycott the season and the show as a whole. Other fans gave up years ago.

#CancelNetflix Trends Over ‘Cuties’ Controversy

- 'Cuties' debuted yesterday on Netflix and it's about “Amy, 11 years old, tries to escape family dysfunction by joining a free-spirited dance clique named ‘Cuties,’ as they build their self confidence through dance.”
- Today the hashtag #CancelNetflix was No. 1 on Twitter, and a petition calling for subscribers to end their Netflix subscriptions because of the film is gathering nearly 600,000 signatures.
- Viewers accuse the film of promoting pedophilia and sexualizing children, but the (female) director claims that the film is exactly a critique on the pressure that society puts on girls who barely understand the concept of sex to present themselves as ‘sexy,’ and that she's on the same side of this battle.

If I don’t get it, I’m going to f—ing come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay,” he told Howard Stern. “That’s how I get them.”

Adam was not even nominated for an Oscar, let alone win.

Hubie Dubois (Adam Sandler) thanklessly spends every Halloween making sure the residents of his hometown, Salem, celebrate safely and play by the rules. But this year, an escaped criminal and a mysterious new neighbor have Hubie on high alert. When people start disappearing, it’s up to Hubie to convince the police (Kevin James, Kenan Thompson) and townsfolk that the monsters are real, and only he can stop them. Hubie Halloween is a hilarious family film about an unlikely hero with an all-star cast including Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Noah Schnapp, Steve Buscemi and Maya Rudolph, produced by Happy Madison.
