Pete Doherty banned from driving again after using electric scooter to search for runaway dog

-Courts ruled that an October 2019 incident where Pete left his house at 1:40 AM to search for his lost husky was indeed violating his driving ban
-He found the husky and said he didn't know electric scooters were part of the ban
-At the time, police officers stopped him for a selfie and said he could ride the scooter as long as he kept it on the pavement
-He plead guilty and ended up with a £6,000 fine and a two-year driving ban

ONTD Original: Lana Del Song Reycommendations

(hopefully this works, mods, let me know if it doesn't - thank you for the help and being so nice! and apologies to everyone for the previous post and for having to delete it and therefore your comments :( )

Bolstered by some encouraging reactions and comments, I decided to make a music post inspired by blorpz's amazing ONTD Original: Musical Substitutions for Doja Cat's 6 Best Songs post, but this time for ONTD’s fave cherry lipstick under the pale moonlight songstress - Lana Del-icate Rey! If you’re like me, you’re a flop who can’t help but love her sad droning but who also has a moral backbone and has found her Rey-cist transgressions intolerable, to a breaking point this past year in particular. To help myself cope, I took advantage of Lizzie’s undeniable musical influence (and ofc those who have influenced her) and have been checking out songs by other artists that sound a lot like her so as to itch the scratch but not continue to line del Grant’s pockets - I’ve broken them out under the cut by similar-sounding album!

Disclaimer: you might disagree with which album I put these under - it was really hard but I wanted the post to be organized lmao pls be nice, this is like my 3rd post ever ok ;_;

Collapse )

(Apologies if any of the above artists are also problematic - I'm not too familiar with any of them beyond their music so if there's anything egregious about them, let me know!)

Hope you discovered something you like here and drop any recs you have in the comments! <3

Box Office: Tenet arrives; New Mutants cliff-dives

Tenet arrived in theaters to a $20.2 million debut for the Labor Day weekend in 2,810 theaters. The film performed as initial estimates predicted it would. The film also passed the $100 million mark worldwide.

Certified Flop™ The New Mutants expanded over 300 theaters to 2,754 but fell a dismal 59% from last weekend to score only a $2.87 million 3-day/$3.5 million 4-day weekend.

Unhinged also expanded in theaters and fell in its forth weekend, grossing $1.67 million for the 3-day and $2.3 million for the 4-day. The studio was pulling for a $30 million total domestic gross after its wide-opening, but it's very unlikely to get there.

Other grosses include $361k for The Personal History of David Copperfield and $610k for Bill & Ted Face the Music.

Oversees, Mulan made its theater debut in several markets and earned $5.9 million.

Chart to come.

Los Espookys Is The Best Show You're Not Watching

In the midst of shooting their second season, the Los Espookys team had to pause due to the growing concern of Covid-19 but are set to resume filming once it's safe enough to continue.

What is this show, you might ask? A group of friends turn their love for horror into a peculiar business, providing horror to those who need it, in a dreamy Latin American country where the strange and eerie are just part of daily life.

[What To Expect In Season 2]
The Playlist: The sixth episode of the first season had a number cliffhangers or unresolved plotlines, like the American ambassador and her reflection now with her in the real world. And it looks like for those of us who haven’t seen clear, or we haven’t seen season two, that someone is out to make Cassandra a newscaster. Was there anything you learned from the reaction of the show from the audience, through social media or whatever, that made you think, “O.K., we need to not even care about these when we move forward, or we’re going to stick to our original plan.” Did anything change in that respect before shooting season two?

Ana Fabrega: I don’t think so. I mean, I think when we were writing, at the time some of those cliffhangers were things that seemed interesting to us. And then when we came back to work on season two, we were like, “Actually, this isn’t really fun to us anymore. Let’s just scrap it.” So I don’t really know.

Julio Torres: Yeah. It’s not “Game of Thrones.” [Laughs.]. But I think that the people that liked the show really embrace the unexpected quality of it, and I think the kind of people that like our comedy beyond the shows sort of like the experience of it and just sort of allowing whatever can happen to happen, which makes it so fun to make and write.

The Playlist: There are certain questions that fans will want to know, like is Tati still married to Juan Carlos? Is Juan Carlos even gay?

Ana Fabrega: We do answer all these questions.

Julio Torres: Yeah. Those questions are dealt with. So, let me reassure that they’ll be left with more questions.

Ana Fabrega: Yeah.

Julio Torres: We actually touch on [whether Juan Carlos is gay] which I didn’t even realize that anyone wondered.

Definitely recommend reading the full article for some more insights into different choices on the show, if you're familiar with it! I'm so anxious for this to come back!

Japanese Music Post: Summer 2020 Edition

I subscribe to the cpop/jpop/kpop tag and almost all of the posts are KPop which is completely understandable because it's whats popular and relevant worldwide but I thought it couldn't hurt to add some JPop to the mix, so join me to see what was popular in Japan this summer!

The biggest thing to happen this summer was probably Yonezou Kenshi releasing his new album, STRAY SHEEP, and making his entire discography available across all streaming services worldwide. Released a month ago STRAY SHEEP still sits on top (or near) of all the album charts.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 7 Director Chris McQuarrie Officially Announces Filming Start

https://instagram.com/p/CEzSnUzjFAx

It looks like cameras are officially rolling again on Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 7 and director Chris McQuarrie has just shared a jaw-dropping tease to announce the news.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Paramount was forced to abruptly halt pre-production on the film's Italy shoot back in March

McQuarrie labels his post "Day 1," marking the official start of principal photography.

According to Norwegian news, Tom completed four jumps with a motorcycle out of the huge ramp on the mountain top Helsetkopen near Hellesylt, Norway. The bikes fell to the ground while Cruise landed by parachute down the steep mountainside.

Charlie Kaufman’s Guide to ‘I’m Thinking of Ending Things’: The Director Explains Its Mysteries

Kaufman has managed to out-Kaufman himself with his latest movie, leaving viewers scratching their heads and reaching for Inland Empire for some light viewing. Indiewire has attempted to put together some of the most burning FAQs with some input from the director himself, including questions such as:

[SPOILERS, DO NOT READ IF U HAVE NOT WATCHED!]Why does it seem like Jake can hear Lucy’s thoughts?

The theory is that Jake has invented Lucy out of books, poems, movies, people he has encountered over his sheltered life.

So Lucy’s the main character and she also doesn’t exist?

Yes and no... the question posited is whether a fantasy can live on its own terms.

Why do the parents keep changing?

Jake is going through the many stages of his parents' lives and can't decide on the perfect moment he would have introduced Lucy. That's why she keeps begging him to leave.

Novak Djokovic defaulted from the US Open after ball struck in anger hits lines person.

After having his serve broken, Djokovic (who seemed to be struggling with injury) hit a ball away in anger which struck a lines person in the throat. She was visible in distress and fell to the ground. Hitting an official is an automatic default.

Djokovic pleaded with the umpire for several minutes but was defaulted.

Djokovic was the oldest man standing in the singles and the last remaining slam champion, which means the ATP will have a new slam champion for the first time in 6 years.

Source

(Not gonna put up the video but it seems like it struck the lineswoman in the throat and she went down, she did seem to be up after a while though so hopefully she's fine.)

UPDATE

Djokovic has left the site without doing press (is a $20,000 fine) and will be stripped of his prize money and ranking points (this is usual for a default).

The points will not affect him as ATP is keeping the ranking points from last year for the benefit of the people who did not play so he will keep his points from last year.
