Halle Berry was going to play a transgender man in an upcoming movie, Twitter convinced her not to

While promoting her upcoming movie Bruised, her directorial debut where she plays an MMA fighter, Razzie Award winner Halle Berry (Catwoman) revealed that she has signed on to play a transgender man for her next role.

[The role is] a character where the woman is a trans character, so she’s a woman that transitioned into a man. She’s a character in a project I love that I might be doing.

I want to experience that world, understand that world,” Berry added. “I want to deep dive in that in the way I did ‘Bruised.’ Who this woman was is so interesting to me, and that will probably be my next project, and that will require me cutting all of my hair off. That’s what I want to experience and understand and study and explore… it’s really important to me to tell stories, and that’s a woman, that’s a female story – it changes to a man, but I want to understand the why and how of that. I want to get into it.”

After being called out on Twitter, she decided not to move forward with playing this role.

J.K. Rowling has yet to comment on this.

Boyfriend Material

Luc O'Donnell is tangentially—and reluctantly—famous. His rock star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next twenty years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything.

To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice, normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and he's never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. In other words: perfect boyfriend material. Unfortunately apart from being gay, single, and really, really in need of a date for a big event, Luc and Oliver have nothing in common. So they strike a deal to be publicity-friendly (fake) boyfriends until the dust has settled. Then they can go their separate ways and pretend it never happened.

But the thing about fake-dating is that it can feel a lot like real-dating. And that's when you get used to someone. Start falling for them. Don't ever want to let them go.

Zara is selling a “high fashion“ version of your abuelita’s errands bag

Zara is in the eye of the storm, and all because of a recently launched new bag.

The “shopper bag”, retailing for €30~, is eerily similar to bags that are usually used by Mexican housewives when running small errands or when grocery shopping, called “morraletas”. It is a staple in many households since it’s a pretty cheap bag made from a sturdy and durable material, costing around $2 in markets.

The bag has been the subject of mockery since its revealing on social media, over the price of the item; with many even calling it cultural appropriation.

The accessory is currently available only in Spain.

Thandie Newton Turned Down Charlie’s Angels Because of the Director’s Sexist Vision

Newton opened up about “one of the biggest movies” she did not end up starring in, due to the director’s insistence that the opening shot of the film be an extreme close-up of her behind.
“The director said to me… 'You’re going to think it’s like yellow lines down a road, and you pull back and you realize it’s the stitching, because the denim is so tight on your ass it’s going to look like tarmac',”

The head of the studio met with Newton and asked if she could be more “believable”
Even though both she and the character come from educated backgrounds, she saw the actress as “different” and requested she make some changes. “She’s like, ‘Maybe there could be a scene where you’re in a bar and she gets up on a table and starts shaking her booty.’ She’s basically reeling off these stereotypes of how to be more convincing as a Black character. I didn’t do the movie as a result.”

Before she turned the film down, Vogue had even asked her to pose with Barrymore and Diaz for a cover, but she couldn’t do it. “I didn’t want to be put in a position where I was objectified. That just didn’t feel good,”

The director was Joseph McGinty Nichol also known as “McG”
The studio head was Amy Pascal.
That role eventually went to Lucy Liu in the Charlie’s Angels movie.

DC's Stargirl 1x09 Promo "Brainwave"

DADDY DEAREST — Tensions rise among the JSA members after Courtney (Brec Bassinger) suggests who she wants to recruit next to the team. Meanwhile, Barbara (Amy Smart) invites Jordan (Neil Jackson) and his family over for dinner, and Henry Jr. (Jake Austin Walker) makes a surprising discovery about his father. Luke Wilson, Yvette Monreal, Cameron Gellman, Anjelika Washington, Trae Romano, Christopher James Baker, Meg DeLacy and Hunter Sansone also star.

Charlize Theron's heartbroken over Furiosa recast

“A lot of women don’t get a second chance, but when men make these movies and fail miserably, they get chance after chance after chance to go and explore that again. That doesn’t necessarily happen for women.”
“Fury Road came a good decade after Æon Flux, and there’s always been that voice in the back of my head that still somewhat responds to that. I’m still influenced by that, and it’s one thing that drives me. It’s unfortunate that we feel like the opportunity will be taken away from us in a heartbeat if we don’t succeed, but that is the truth. It’s not a very forgiving genre when it comes to women.”

“It’s a tough one to swallow. Listen, I fully respect George, if not more so in the aftermath of making that film with him. He’s a master, and I wish him nothing but the best.”
“Yeah, it’s a little heartbreaking, for sure. I really love that character, and I’m so grateful that I had a small part in creating her. She will forever be someone I think of and reflect on fondly. Obviously, I would love to see that story continue, and if he feels like he has to go about it this way, then I trust him in that manner. We get so hung up on the smaller details that we forget the thing that we emotionally tap into has nothing to do with that minute thing that we’re focusing on.”

In Dumb People News, Bored Academics And Liberals Decide To Cancel Cancel Culture

With nothing else to do during quarantine except post stale takes on Twitter, Harper Magazine (idk her) decided to get together a bunch of people that are supposedly smarter than all of us peasants and pen a call out letter about cancel culture. As expected, Twitter is already clowning them so some of them are already retracting their signatures while others really think they ough to be proud of what they are doing. TL;DR under the cut!

ONTD Original: Musicians I just cannot get into

Have you seen people (i.e. ONTD) go crazy over an artist but when you hear their music you can’t vibe to them at all. Basically, meaning that you just cannot get into these artist’s music. Or possibly only liking only one song or two but outside of those songs you just do not like their music.

For me, my music taste is like 70% R&B with the rest with Rap, Pop, Rock, Alternative, Jazz, etc. but if I like a song/artist (regardless of genre) I’ll listen since I have albums of many artists outside of R&B of music. So, the list below is some of those artists who I cannot get into and never could.

Though there is possible hope for me about these artists. At the end of each artist’s section, I will state whether I can change my mind on their music on a scale of 1-10 (1-no chance at all; 10-most definitely)

For those who will be upset with my list (because let’s be real many will be), here is a random but cute gif in advance.

*(Since they’ll be many videos posted, I’ll put most of them under spoiler)*

‘Magnum P.I.,’ ‘MacGyver’ Showrunner Peter Lenkov Fired Over Toxic Work Environment Claims

Lenkov was the showrunner on “Magnum P.I.” and “MacGyver,” but has been fired from those shows.

Lenkov was previously the showrunner on the CBS revival of “Hawaii Five-O

Lenkov was known to be misogynistic and to make crude jokes on set.
He is also said to have a “boys club” with whom he would regularly gather and smoke cigars.

Scrabble Tournaments Move Toward Banning Racial and Ethnic Slurs

Julie Duffy, a spokeswoman for Hasbro, also said the company will amend Scrabble’s official rules “to make clear that slurs are not permissible in any form of the game.”, though the dictionaries for the game have not included slurs since 1994.

If a word is taken out of the association’s lexicon, it cannot be played in tournaments sanctioned by the organization, including in online versions.

This is not the first time ScrabbleStars (I mean, I assume that's what Competitive Scrabble Players are Called, for short) have pressured Hasbro to remove offensive language from the game, as an Anti-Semetic slur was removed from competitive play before. Of course, there were some ScrabbleShitheads who whipped out the words 'slippery' and 'slope', for 0 points, as well as going "My black friend doesn't mind."
