Lil' Twist went on a podcast recently and stated that Justin's team forced drug charges on to Lil' Twist to help protect Bieber's image.

“If they would have put weed charges on Justin in his early career, it would have been bad on him. So I got a call one day saying, ‘Twist, do you really love this kid?’ I said, ‘Yes.’"

“They said, ‘Cool, if you love him then you can take the heat for him because you can come off a little weed charge. You’re associated with Lil Wayne. You’re a rapper.’”

Another day, another set of cancellations: Jessica Mulroney gets dropped by 3 more

Good morning, ONTD! Did you miss this Jessica Mulroney post from last night? Guess what? She's been dropped by a few more professional engagements.

1. Cityline, a daytime lifestyle/fashion talk show has announced she will no longer be making appearances. This makes sense, as they are owned by Bell Media, her employer.

2. Hudson Bay Company (aka The Bay) has announced that she will no longer be working as a bridal specialist for their Kleinfeld Canada store. (This OP would like to note that in the past, she helped hockey WAGS find wedding dresses.)

UPDATE: Good Morning America has dropped her, too!

What's next? I Do, Redo was supposed to hit Netflix at some point, but it hasn't been announced if that's still happening.

Christian Slater says he would be in Rikers if he wasn’t a white guy

During an interview with Jimmy Fallon promoting his new miniseries 'Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story,' Christian Slater got to discussing the current unrest and protests regarding the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

"These have just been surreal times. Of course I’m horrified by the murder of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor and countless black men, women and children. So on the one hand, it’s great that there is a rising up here to make significant change."

He also delved into systemic racism and how white and class privileges have benefited him:

"I have crossed paths with the police a few times myself and they didn’t murder me because the system isn’t designed that way. I was allowed to get help, get off drugs and alcohol and today, I’ll go to a place like Rikers Island and talk to inmates. They’re pretty much guilty of things that I’ve done, but when the meeting ends, I can leave. It’s pretty much skin color that determines that.

Clearly we’re in a crazy broken system. This society has no right to call itself civilized until all of its citizens are treated with equality. I’m working on listening and educating myself as much as possible."

Slater had been arrested multiple times from 1989 to 2005 for drunk driving, weapons, substance abuse and domestic violence charges.

Angelina Jolie Talks Systemic Racism and Domestic Violence for Harper's Bazaar

Angelina Jolie has given an interview to Harper's Bazaar about oppression, racism and domestic violence in the age of covid.

Photos taken by her son Knox.

  • After almost two decades of international work, the current situation in the US regarding the pandemic and racism has prompted Angelina to shift her focus to domestic work. "A system that protects me but might not protect my daughter – or any other man, woman or child in our country based on skin colour – is intolerable."

  • She says society needs to progress beyond sympathy and good intentions to laws and policies that actually address structural racism (from education to politics) and impunity. "Ending abuses in policing is just the start."

  • When asked for advice on how to teach children about racism and race, Angelina says to just listen and never assume you know what the oppressed are feeling.

  • Regarding the pandemic, she is most worried for refugees and women/children in abusive households. She hopes post-pandemic, the focus on efforts to make structural change to protect vulnerable people carries on.

  • Angelina goes on to say child protection services are not properly funded and we should not accept excuses from our politicians and leaders that other issues are more important than protecting children and young girls. "We still turn a blind eye to domestic violence. We often don’t believe survivors, we don’t put the rights of children first or take their trauma seriously."

  • Angelina has spent the pandemic caring for the family pets, reading Time magazine and social media from BLM activists and recently watched the documentary I Am Not Your Negro.

billboard couldn't have picked a worst person for this: Todrick Hall covers Pride issue

The person chosen for the cover has had several controversies tied to him and is not great representation of the lgbtq community. The Blurb for the article states, "Todrick Hall is still fighting for his place in the industry, where he says racism and homophobia linger — while owning up to his past mistakes".

Well here are the accusations against the person Billboard deemed represents the black and gay community:

-Droves of people have come forward specifically to say that the YouTuber, actor, and singer-songwriter never paid them for their work.

-Hall's former personal assistant Tommy McKissock says some examples of bad behavior Hall exhibited throughout McKissock's tenure, which allegedly included making anti-black statements, failing or refusing to pay the people he employed, and sexual harassment.

-Allegedly Hall has a skinny white twink fetish, blew his money on rent boys and drugs.

Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne CALLS out C*mila C*bello and her racist comments.

In a live stream interview with "Music of Black Origin", Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne calls out the least talented and former fifth harmony shrill vocalist racist Caca-bello. Leigh-Anne claims, it’s DISGUSTING how she could say those vile things and still be allowed to perform at the Grammys and have ZERO backlash nor repercussions for it! Caca-bello admitted to her disgusting racist remarks online but the grammy's brushed it aside and let caca perform a song about her dad who's probably racist also, as a form of damage control. Caca also posted statements along the lines of 'it's not rape if you like it' on her tumblr.

Taylor Swifts calls on Tennessee officials to remove racist statues

Taylor Swift is calling on her local state government to take down racist statues and not replace one that protestors tore down last week. Below is the text from her entire thread.

As a Tennessean, it makes me sick that there are monuments standing in our state that celebrate racist historical figures who did evil things. Edward Carmack and Nathan Bedford Forrest were DESPICABLE figures in our state history and should be treated as such.

Edward Carmack’s statue was sitting in the state Capitol until it was torn down last week in the protests. The state of Tennessee has vowed to replace it. FYI, he was a white supremacist newspaper editor who published pro-lynching editorials and incited the arson of the office of Ida B. Wells (who actually deserves a hero’s statue for her pioneering work in journalism and civil rights). Replacing his statue is a waste of state funds and a waste of an opportunity to do the right thing.

Then we get to this monstrosity. Nathan Bedford Forrest was a brutal slave trader and the first grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan who, during the Civil War, massacred dozens of black Union soldiers in Memphis. His statue is still standing and July 13th is ‘Nathan Bedford Forrest Day.’ Due to social pressure, the state is trying to overrule this, and Tennesseans might no longer have to stomach it. Fingers crossed.

Taking down statues isn’t going to fix centuries of systemic oppression, violence and hatred that black people have had to endure but it might bring us one small step closer to making ALL Tennesseans and visitors to our state feel safe - not just the white ones. We need to retroactively change the status of people who perpetuated hideous patterns of racism from ‘heroes’ to ‘villains.’ And villains don’t deserve statues.

I’m asking the Capitol Commission and the Tennessee Historical Commission to please consider the implications of how hurtful it would be to continue fighting for these monuments. When you fight to honor racists, you show black Tennesseans and all of their allies where you stand, and you continue this cycle of hurt. You can’t change history, but you can change this.

Kristen Bell accused of glorifying colorblindness in kids book while playing biracial character

I regret to inform you all that Kristen Bell is at it again.

The Veronica Mars star has written a children's book, The World Needs More Purple People, about a purple person who looks for similarities before differences. She explained to the Associated Press:

"The world loves debate, I do, and debate talks about differences. It’s layering difference upon difference upon difference, ‘I think this’, ‘no, you should think this’, it’s just constantly pointing out divisive narratives. Our kids are absorbing all of that and maybe we needed a bit of a road map to show them that it’s actually great to start with similarities first.

She continued: “Hopefully that will allow kids to have a little bit more of a social identity and be able to see similarities and through that have their mind opened by some people who they thought were different.”

Kristen was promptly criticized on social media for writing "All Lives Matter: The Book," with people side eying the similarity to the phrase "I don’t care if you’re black, white, purple" (which is usually used to shut down conversations about racism).

This mess has come after Kristen participated in a tone deaf "I Take Responsibility" PSA. Kristen's reps have not responded to requests for comment.

The Killers’ next single “My Own Soul’s Warning” drops June 17th (Song Preview)

Today The Killers announced that their next single, “My Own Soul’s Warning,” drops next week on Wednesday, June 17th. Lead singer Brandon Flowers considers it his favorite song off the new album.

Their sixth studio album (“Imploding The Mirage”) was delayed from its original May 29th release due to COVID-19.

No word yet on a new release date.

It’s been confirmed Dave Keuning did not contribute anything on this album but is welcome to return to the band if he’d like. Mark Stoermer will remain in the band in some capacity.

An excerpt from their recent Rolling Stone interview: Both Flowers and Vannucci say the door is open if he [Keuning] ever feels like getting back to work with them. “I don’t want to spill too much dirty laundry, but it’s been years since he’s been really been a productive part of this band,” says Vannucci. “And it sucks. We have to get used to it, and hopefully that will level out and we’ll figure out a way forward. He can come back if that’s what he wants. This is all his decision.”

You can read their full RS interview here. It’s an interesting read on how the new album was recorded without Dave, and more.

Finally. Sounds promising.

This era had me bored and uninspired.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Review Roundup: What Are The Critics Saying?

Reviews for 'The Last of Us Part 2' have arrived a week before the release and the reaction from critics have been positive. The game has been praised for its story and gameplay but others have said that the game is bleak and depressing at times. Metacritic currently has it 96 indicating 'universal acclaim'.

Gamespot: "By the time I finished The Last of Us Part II, I wasn't sure if I liked it. It's a hard game to stomach, in part because so much of who Ellie is and what she does is beyond your control. She is deeply complicated and flawed, and her selfishness hurts a lot of people. At times, the pain you inflict feels so senseless that it can leave you numb. It's all messy and bleak and made me profoundly sad for myriad reasons, but the more I reflect on it, the more I appreciate the story and characters at its core."

Lady Antebellum Is Now ‘Lady A.’ But So Is a Blues Singer Who’s Used the Name for 20 Years

Seattle blues singer Lady A received a bombardment of phone messages from friends, fans and producers came in all shouting the same thing: Her name had been stolen.

This Lady A — a 61-year-old black woman whose real name is Anita White — has been playing the blues under the name for more than 20 years.

She’s frustrated that Lady Antebellum hadn’t gone to her before making a decision, pointing out the irony in changing a name in support of racial equality while simultaneously taking another one from a black performer.

A rep for Lady Antebellum said the band was not aware of the other artist and plans to reach out to her.

Seattle’s Lady A holds a business trademark for Lady A LLC but does not know where she stands from a legal standpoint; she is going to speak with a lawyer next week to discuss her options.

If the two parties end up going to court, one group will likely have to alter their name.
The newly-named Lady A may also have to pay a sum to the Seattle singer if there’s proof of damages.

"They’re using the name because of a BLM incident that, for them, is just a moment in time. If it mattered, it would have mattered to them before. It shouldn’t have taken George Floyd to die for them to realize that their name had a slave reference to it. You found me on Spotify easily — why couldn’t they? I’m not about to stop using my name. For them to not even reach out is pure privilege. But now the burden of proof is on me to prove that my name is in fact mine, and I don’t even know how much I’ll have to spend to keep it.”

Marisa Tomei On Being Typecast As A Movie Mom: ‘I Really Regret Starting Down This Road’

Marisa Tomei is an Oscar Winner for her role in “My Cousin Vinny”

She plays Pete Davidson’s mom in “The King of Staten Island”, but she says she's over being cast as a mom in all her movies.

“I really regret starting down this road and I really regret starting to do that. “I was, you know, talked into it — not [‘King of Staten Island’], but I mean just that change — and I really always felt like, ‘Oh I could play a lot of things.’”

“Honestly, [playing a mom is] probably more of a stretch than other things. “I think every actor and actress has a lot of dimensions to them and if the scope of what is being written and being made is narrow, and you want to keep working, you do what you can.”

She says she'd like to play in other genres:

“I mean, even genres that I would love to be in, you know? “The femme fatale, and in a noir.”

This former Belgian king was responsible for millions of deaths and other atrocities in what was then the Belgian Congo, his private possession.

- He added: "You have to understand that there were many people who worked for Leopold II and those people really committed abuse, but that doesn't mean Leopold II did."
