Did He Hear Us? MCR's Gerard Way Speaks Out on BLM, Shades Useless Platitudes on the Way

Gerard Way broke presumed silent support today by posting a unique white-on-charcoal-grey statement about BLM to Instagram:

I could start by saying I have needed time to think, to explain away the days of silence. ⠀ ⠀ I could say there are no words, or that I don’t know how to begin. But not knowing where to begin is a bad way to begin, and days of thinking are a luxury. ⠀ ⠀ Having the time, and more importantly the safety, to consider ones words is a privilege for me, along with many other privileges I possess due to the color of my skin. And these are privileges not everyone benefits from. There is not much time to think, surely not days, when the knee is on your neck. When the bullets penetrate, or the tear gas finds its mark. When generations of enabled systematic oppression, and its guardians, work against you. When opportunities are not afforded to you because of who you were born to be. ⠀ ⠀ I have always considered myself empathetic, it is one of the reasons I believe I am able to do my job. But in all the pain I have received, I will never begin to know the pain you know. I could never feel the pain you feel. ⠀ ⠀ And I am so deeply sorry things have not changed. ⠀ I cannot begin to understand your experience, but what I can do is stand by you. Continue the internal discussions we are having about ways to affect change in non-performative ways. Meaningful ways beyond this moment, beyond this gesture.⠀ ⠀ And this is a moment, like many moments before this and the countless lives lost. I will open my heart, to receive what you have to give— anger, frustration, sadness, but in doing so, I know I will never be able to fully understand it the way you do, and surely not experience it. I can only open up to you, and accept what you have to give.⠀ ⠀ Grateful for your kindness, your honesty, and the knowledge you have shared that I will further educate myself with. I am, and will remain, inspired by your rage.⠀ ⠀ For information or if you are able to donate, this is a great place for that: https://www.naacpldf.org/about-us/⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Arin of the "Game Grumps" fame asks should they make a BLM statement, does it anyway

Geez Louise.

Arin Hanson, of the GG fame, asked his 1 million followers today if he should make a statement in solidarity of #BlackLiveMatter and the protests happening around the country in the wake of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmed Aubry, and the countless others at the hand of the world's largest gang the police. His reasoning was that he didn't want a message to ring hollow from their "brand" and disrupt some coin despite he himself supporting the movement.

Witcher Show Runner Tries to Explain Why Diversity in Writers Rooms Matters

Yesterday The Witcher's showrunner Lauren S Hissrich posted about how diversity in the writers room is important. Many white people got mad about it in the replies. So she tried again to explain exactly WHY it's so important to seek out talented writers of color. Will she be successful? Will the white nerds get it? Or will they still cry about how Triss isn't a pale red-headed white lady on the show?

Lauren's thread was inspired by one posted by Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Keto Shimizu which is also full of important things, so I wanted to be sure to highlight her thread as well.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra show support for BLM and Twitter points out their hypocrisy

Nick Jonas tweeted showing support for George Floyd and Black Lives Matters.

However he and Priyanka probably did not get the response that they wanted as a lot of Twitter felt that they were not genuine with Nick and Priyanka's support of corrupt Indian Prime Minister Modi as well Priyanka's silence on atrocities committed in India and her endorsement of skin lightening products.

J Balvin reflects and educates himself after his last BLM IG post fiasco

Follow up to this post

After latin-americans mocked J Balvin for his stupid post and he deleted, he went to twitter to express that people criticized him without even trying to teach him.

He was mocked again because google is free and nobody has the obligation to teach to a 35 years old man who has profited from black music, about racism.

We don't know if someone educated him, he decided to search on his own or if he finally called a PR person (I vote for this one) but he made the following statement on his IG account:

Lebron James to Laura Ingraham: 'we are simply F-N tired of this treatment right here'

In 2018, Ghastly ghoul of a woman Laura Ingraham told Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James to "Shut up and dribble" instead of commenting on political issues.

Wednesday night, on "The Ingraham Angle," Ingraham who supports white supremacists and anti-Semites defended New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees' comments about "disrespecting the flag."

"He's allowed to have his view about what keeling and the flag means to him. He's a person," Ingraham said, adding, "This is beyond football."

James has won multiple NBA championships and has a multitude of multi-million endorsement deals, will star in the updated version of Space Jam. Drew Brees issued an apology for 'insensitive' comments. Brees has only won one superbowl ten years ago and is the spokesperson for nyquil. Brees also runs an underaged second rate hooters-esque restaurant.

Halsey Talks Being 'White Passing'

Halsey has been active at a number of Black Lives Matter protests.
She recently became a topic of controversy when a fan accused her of disowning her “black side.”

The user wrote in a since-deleted tweet:
“Notice how @Halsey never claims her black side, but she ‘supports.’ Stop being ignorant. She’s never claimed her Black side. This is why I will NEVER support her. On her post she says ‘let black ppl speak,’ not ‘let our ppl speak.’ Nah, f—k her.”

Halsey took to Twitter to address the claim and why she doesn’t use “we” when regarding the Black community.

Lin-Manuel Miranda gets called out for useless platitudes

Star Trek actress Marina Sirtis has had IT with Lin-Manuel Miranda just like the rest of us.

In a now deleted tweet (lol coward), Miranda went to tell everyone to keep going and learn from their mistakes. Sirtis doesn't think that means anything and is asking him, for once, to say something that matters. So far he has yet to do so, but stay tuned.

Drew Brees apologizes for calling kneeling during the National Anthem disrespectful

- Follow up to this post where New Orleans Saints quarterback stated that "[he] will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America". He also stated that his white grandfathers fought WW2 to make the USA a great country for him to live in.
- Today, after being dragged on social media and in the press/on TV, he released an apology on Instagram: "In an attempt to talk about respect, unity, and solidarity centered around the American flag and the national anthem, I made comments that were insensitive and completely missed the mark on the issues we are facing right now as a country. They lacked awareness and any type of compassion or empathy. Instead, those words have become divisive and hurtful and have misled people into believing that somehow I am an enemy."
- Of course, social media users are not having it since he's being dragged in the comments of his post and outside with the hashtag #DrewBreesIsCancelled
- On the other hand, some of his Black teammates approved his apology.
