Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard Waive April Rent for Their Tenants

Perpetually annoying couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's company Pringus Property LLC emailed all tenants of their at least two residential buildings this weekend to let them know rent for April is waived since the city is under stay at home order due to the coronavirus. The company's manager is Dax"s sister.

According to sources, the email expressed empathy and encouragement, and promised to work with residents going forward.

As the Los Angeles Times reported in 2016, Kristen and Dax bought an $800,000 duplex in once downtrodden and mostly black and brown Mid-City in order to lease the units within for $2,400 each. LA Weekly noted you would need a near six-figure income to be able to afford the apartments in a Los Angeles where the median individual income is nearly one-fourth that amount.

Cardi B Slams Coronavirus Xenophobia

With millions under quarantine, Cardi B has been conducting regular live sessions on Instagram and has been the entertainment we need. She even scored a hit when her virus rant was laid over a beat and made it to the top of the itunes chart. Cardi has been vocal about her time in quarantine placing all of our thoughts in her rants suggesting they spray down the streets like they did in china and pressuring the pentagon to 'let a bitch know when she can bust out with her expensive outfits and lacefronts'.

In a recent IG Live, Cardi took on the topic of xenophobia against the Chinese, as racially-charged assaults against East Asians rise due to the virus tracing back to China. Even President Donald Trump has reportedly been referring to the pandemic as the "Kung Flu" or "Chinese Virus."

"Let's stop being xenophobic. Let's stop saying fucked up jokes. Let's stop having crazy anger because I've been seeing a lot of Asians get beat up and all that shit," Cardi proclaimed during the live stream.

Globally Asian's have been spat on, beat and have their lives threaten. In New York where the virus is doubling every 3 days the New York Attorney General, Letitia announced the creation of a new hate crime hotline to field reports of xenophobia and racism. The Glass Hotel

From the award-winning author of Station Eleven, an exhilarating novel set at the glittering intersection of two seemingly disparate events-a massive Ponzi scheme collapse and the mysterious disappearance of a woman from a ship at sea.

Vincent is a bartender at the Hotel Caiette, a five-star lodging on the northernmost tip of Vancouver Island. On the night she meets Jonathan Alkaitis, a hooded figure scrawls a message on the lobby's glass wall: "Why don't you swallow broken glass." High above Manhattan, a greater crime is committed: Alkaitis is running an international Ponzi scheme, moving imaginary sums of money through clients' accounts. When the financial empire collapses, it obliterates countless fortunes and devastates lives. Vincent, who had been posing as Jonathan's wife, walks away into the night. Years later, a victim of the fraud is hired to investigate a strange occurrence: a woman has seemingly vanished from the deck of a container ship between ports of call.

In this captivating story of crisis and survival, Emily St. John Mandel takes readers through often hidden landscapes: campgrounds for the near-homeless, underground electronica clubs, the business of international shipping, service in luxury hotels, and life in a federal prison. Rife with unexpected beauty, The Glass Hotel is a captivating portrait of greed and guilt, love and delusion, ghosts and unintended consequences, and the infinite ways we search for meaning in our lives.

PETA: “Is it ethical to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons as a vegan?”

Choice highlights include:
Is fishing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons vegan? “This is a biggie. Fishing isn’t vegan! You shouldn’t fish in real life, so you shouldn’t fish in the game!”

“It’s disappointing that a game that has villagers from all different species (from elephants and ducks to deer and pigs) living and coexisting harmoniously with humans – yet fish and bugs are left out of that. Instead of being recognized as the living, breathing, feeling individuals that they are, fish and bugs are disregarded as forms of entertainment for the other villagers. Your island should be a safe space for all animals, big and small.”

Is Tom Nook Exploiting you? “Tom Nook is a tanooki, a racoon dog. Racoon dogs are often killed their fur. Tom Nook’s family may have been beaten, anally electrocuted to death, gassed, or skinned alive. Cut him some slack.”

Things you shouldn’t do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons according to PETA and this guide: NO bug catching, NO digging up clams, leave hermit crabs alone, DO NOT build a dog house, only eat fruits and more. Basically don’t do anything.

Let's Have ANOTHER Netflix Party, ONTD!

Last week, several ONTDers & I gathered together to watch National Treasure together using the Chrome extension Netflix Party, that allows users to share a movie watching experience with a built-in chat feature together....from a safe social distance.

Despite a few technical glitches (keep your fingers off the spacebar!), I think it was a great success & hope to plan weekly movie viewings (small print: we can easily share hosting duties, so that other time zones get a fair chance. I also realize some countries' Netflix have a different movie selection).

Below is a poll to vote for our second week's movie night selection & date/time. I have tried to select a few films across several genres. Anyone unable to download the extension or who doesn't have Netflix is more than welcome to join in the ONTD comments under the link sharing post and find a viewing of the movie by any legal means necessary.
