2019 was a bad year for many things but it was an amazing year for female rap, where great new talents burst onto the scene, veterans broke through to the mainstream, legends came back and talent ruled the underground.

Megan Thee Stallion released the best album of the year and had the best Tiny Desk Concert and coined the term Hot Girl Summer, and you still get the feeling this force of nature is just revving up.

Spinning Out is the first trashy Netflix binge of 2020

Spinning Out is a gritty, "teen-type" drama that covers the world of figure skating, mental illness, family drama, sex, a lesbian plotline, and more. Very binge-able in today's streaming society. It stars Kaya Scodelario of Skins fame (she replaced Emma Roberts, which if you've watched the show, you can see Emma in this role) and January Jones as her mother (she was a teen mom!).

What year is it? A stranger yelled 'You suck!' at Aaron Eckhart in an elevator at 4:30 a.m.

(Okay, what a click-baity title from NME. But that's just one of many tidbits that came out as he discussed his new movie In The Line of Duty.)

-Someone asked if he "Grams" and he thought that was a drug reference. He doesn't know what Instagram is and thinks it's weird that all these people would know him, but he doesn't know them.
-He loves his privacy
-He was told he sucked in an elevator at the Berlin airport and is shocked people actually say things like this
-Says his reputation as "hard to work with" probably hasn't changed
-He also says: "Movie-making is like pregnancy, it hurts, it’s bloody, it’s ugly and when it’s done, you hopefully come out with a beautiful looking baby."
-He still thirsts for "something more" in his career and cites other actors who had the guts to do that, and concludes: "But I’m gonna be dead soon, I don’t have much longer to do it!"

Trick Daddy arrested for DUI and cocaine possession

Trick Daddy was arrested in Miami for DUI and cocaine possession on Saturday morning.

According to the Miami Herald, police responded to a report of a driver in a Range Rover, hitting signs and running red lights. When a police officer approached the vehicle, they noticed that the driver “appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.”

After waking him up, Trick Daddy, aka Maurice Samuel Young, told the officer that he had about five drinks earlier at a club in Miami Gardens. Young then said that he was dropping someone off and on his way home.

The report stated that Young had slurred speech, bloodshot, watery, glassy eyes, and the officer smelled alcohol on his breath. He agreed to a field sobriety test, but was unable to complete it.

After being taken to the local station, the police found cocaine among his possessions.

He was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond was set at $5,000 for the cocaine possession charge and $1,000 for the driving under the influence charge.

Enjoy streaming password sharing while you can, its days may be numbered

The Hollywood Reporter writes about the real possibility about streaming services cracking down on password sharing more than ever.

In 2019, companies lost about $9.1 billion to password piracy and sharing, and that will rise to $12.5 billion in 2024, according to data released by research firm Parks Associates.

“Half the people in the country live in houses with two or less people in them, and yet these services have five streams,” said Charter Communications CEO Tom Rutledge to a room full of investment bankers. “There are more streams available than there are homes to use them.”

A study by Hub Entertainment Research found that 31% of all consumers say they’ve given one of their online TV service passwords to someone not living with them. Among 13-24 year olds, 64% have given out a password.

Critics love Selena Gomez's 'Rare'

The reviews are in, and with her new album Selena Gomez has captured critics' hearts. As a certain lyrical inspiration's comeback single continues to tread water on the charts, Rare is earning the whisper queen her career-best reviews.

"...a sultry, polished album about love, loss and dating. [...] Gomez's own, assured voice rings out on this 13-track record that flirts with R&B and electro—and is mostly killer, very little filler." ★★★★☆ —Evening Standard

"Selena Gomez has 165 million Instagram followers. Now she has her first great pop album. [...] her third and most meaningful solo disc." ★★★★☆ —Los Angeles Times

"Rare is that most powerful and liberating of things—the sound of a woman becoming comfortable both on her own and in her own company [...] a beautifully confident return from one of pop’s most underrated stars." ★★★☆☆ —NME

"...an act of divine ruthlessness... For how publicly and privately painful Gomez's last few years have been... Rare is shockingly, and beautifully, upbeat. [...] Gomez re-enters public life with grace and clarity." ★★★★☆ —Rolling Stone

"While the album has a remarkably unified sound considering its many cooks, Gomez... holds it all together. Her voice... [is] distinctive and assertive; her phrasing and delivery are strong... Five years ago, saying that [she] had released one of the best pop albums in recent memory probably would have invited skepticism at the very least. In 2020, believe it." ★★★★★ —Variety

"...sleek to a degree that makes 2015's Revival seem sluggish. [...] almost inarguably Selena Gomez's best album." —Vulture

Family Feud Canada contestant goes viral after not knowing Popeye's favourite food

Contestants were asked what Popeye's favourite food was
-Eve said chicken, thinking of Popeye's Chicken, the restaurant
-She didn't know it was in reference to Popeye the Sailor Man, who loved his spinach
-The clip went viral because of how she says "chicken" and her confident shimmy (and maybe because younger generations only know of the chicken place?)

Popeye's gifted her with $10,000 worth of food because of this.

Luigi (Not Mario) Is the Man We Need Right Now

Luigi has been forever ridiculed as the fragile, awkward brother of Mario. If you look closer, however, he is actually an exemplary portrait of modern masculinity -- feeling, and knowing it's okay to not be the best as long as you're doing your best. In this video, we explore the history of Luigi and how he became exactly the kind of man we need today.
