Colbert Interviews Larry David About New Season of Curb Your Enthusiasm (It Gets A Little Awkward)

-Larry talks about his New Year's Resolutions. Says the past ones he found most effective were "Pee before you leave" and "make 2 trips" when carrying in groceries. He says this year he wants to stop waving at waiters to get their attention because he doesn't think they like it and he says he's going to learn how to swipe his card better (even though he's aware that now you have to insert a chip [America, this is like a DECADE ago - why aren't you tapping!?]).

-Their banter is awkward but funny throughout the clip (lol of course, it's Larry David).

YouTuber Emma Chamberlain covers " Cosmopolitan"

- Chamberlain on hating the word influencer. Chamberlain" I think the word " influencer" is kind of disgusting. Let's use me as an example: If someone is calling me an influencer, they're saying my job is to influence, and I don't think that's true. I prefer to entertain and be a friend. I don't want to influence".

- On how she got her start on YouTube. Chamberlain" It was summertime, I didn't want to do my summer reading. I had to tap into other new territories in my brain because I was bored. So it was like ,everyday, I was making videos" .

On the moving to L.A. and body issues: Chamberlain" It's a bloodbath. Living in L.A., if you're at an unhealthy weight, that's normal. That's really, really, really a mindf**k for sure".

- On refusing to promote weight loss products.* potential trigger warning.
Chamberlain" Like your grind is your grind, and I'm not going to get in the way of that. I just think growing up on social media gave me eating issues as a kid. I literally have struggled with that my whole life. Almost every person I've met has had some form of an eating disorder. I mean, I've had.. I don't want to trigger anyone, but so many".

- On why she vows never to use facetune or photo manipulation software: Chamberlain I've been fully not at a healthy weight and thought I was obese multiple times. It's awful, my whole family was telling me I looked terrible. They were like, " You look like you're dying" I was like , ' I think I look great". I refuse to do Facetune because nobody needs to think I look like that. I look the way I look".

- On not taking herself to seriously: Chamberlain" It's like, I have one life. I'm not going to waste my time being all, you know" Take me seriously as a YouTuber!" I don't care, you know what I mean? It's like, watch my videos- if you hate it, go watch the news or something, I don't know. Like have fun, but I don't care".

Emily Ratajkowski Endorses Bernie Sanders for President

- "I think one of the things that’s so interesting about young people supporting Bernie Sanders is that he’s not like a young, sexy candidate. What he says speaks so much to what people want, that sort of who he is, it’s so much beyond just one man."

- "Women in this country have so much to lose as far as health care. This is a potential moment in the Supreme Court where Roe v. Wade could be overturned, so whoever’s going to be our next Supreme Court justice will be up to the next president in the next four years."

Christian Group Warns Of New Disney Cartoon’s Witchcraft

The Christian Broadcasting Network is warning parents about Disney's new series "The Owl House," premiering tonight on the Disney Channel at 8:45 PM EST.

"The show tries to portray witchcraft as a positive tool to fight evil. That's similar to what real-life witches have been promoting over the past few years as they've been putting hexes on President Trump and others in order to fight for their beliefs. Folks, if you think this latest 'Owl House' show is just 'fantasy and fun,' think again. Over the years, Disney has gone farther and farther into the darkness of the spiritual world that opposes the living God, coming up with programming and characters that lead the vulnerable into that dark world of deception... This spiritual realm that opposes God is real. Demons are real. And they are out to deceive your children and draw them in to be pawns of the enemy of their souls, the Devil, otherwise known as Satan. His devices and plans are to destroy your kids and grandkids spiritually, physically and emotionally. You must protect them from being enticed into this demonic world."

As described by Disney, the show is "a horror-comedy series that follows Luz, a self-assured teenage human girl who accidentally stumbles upon a portal to the Demon Realm. There she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda’s apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting."

'Like a Boss' kicks off new box office releases with $1 million on Thursday night

I know the trades are focusing on '1917' having a big boom this weekend with its wide release - $3.2 Million on Thursday - but I as usual will focus on actual new releases.

Paramount's comedy 'Like a Boss', starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek, made $1M from previews and should pick up $11 million this weekend (on a $29M budget).

Well behind everything else is Kristen Stewart's critically-trashed 'Underwater', which made $500,000 in previews and is expected to earn less than $10 million (on a $60 million budget, welp).

Going back to '1917', it's expected to make $25 million more this weekend (on a $100 million budget). 'Just Mercy' was just released wide as well, made $800,000 on Thursday, and is expected to bring in $10 million more (on a $25 million budget).

Happy new year, I guess.

Tag suggestion post!

(relevant ones to ONTD only, please!)

If you like a tag someone recommends, please just reply to them with a +1 or "THIS" or w/e instead of making another comment thread (just so we don't have a billion comments asking over and over for a specific tag) and we'll be going thru the post and adding them if they're good! Please, only suggest tags if you intend on using them. People ask for certain tags and a lot of them are never used.

Also, read the comments before suggesting - someone probably already suggested your tag and we're trying to keep it as condensed/easy to sort out as possible - thanks! :)

The View: Dr Jennifer Ashton, Hot Topics

Meghan is off. Ana Navarro and Yvette Nicole Brown are guest hosts.

If you’re thinking, woah is this the new permanent panel, sadly nope ☹

Dr. Jennifer Ashton

ABC News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jen Ashton weighs in on flu myths, the controversial virginity test on T.I.’s daughter, and her book The Self-Care Solution.

Summary of conversation [Spoiler (click to open)]
JA thinks the flu has a pr problem. The flu kills people every year. But it’s looking pretty bad, with deaths increasing. It’s not too late. No anti-vaxxer issue. People just take their chances. You *can not* get the flu from the vaccination. Ana wants to know the difference between a cold or flu or something else. Sunny brings up TI daughter’s virgin test. JA says there is no test to prove being a virgin and it is 2020 so stfu. [Ok that was me ad-libbing but that’s her premise]. Sunny wonders if there is a single father who wants to be involved in their daughter’s maturity. JA says it’s good when the dad is involved and it can be awkward but encourages it [she’s talking in general, not the virginity test]. Talks about her book, a monthly wellness challenge. Making it achievable by thinking about it in smaller timeframes. Ana says she divided her goals to three categories. Lose weight, eat something green that’s not an M&M, and VOTE. JA picked how we move, how we eat, and above the neck, eg stress, sleep, meditation. JA has bad posture, so she thought about stretching.

Oprah Winfrey Steps Away From Russell Simmons Accuser Doc, Pulls From Apple+ (Exclusive)

Oprah Winfrey is stepping away from a documentary that centered on a former music executive who has accused Russell Simmons of sexual misconduct.

The high profiled documentary is slated to at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Winfrey, who previously was an executive producer, had planned to air the doc on Apple TV+ after the festival.

Collapse )
Part of her statement to The Hollywood Reporter:

“I have decided that I will no longer be executive producer on The Untitled Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering documentary and it will not air on Apple TV+. First and foremost, I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe and support the women. Their stories deserve to be told and heard. In my opinion, there is more work to be done on the film to illuminate the full scope of what the victims endured, and it has become clear that the filmmakers and I are not aligned in that creative vision."

Collapse )

Dick and Ziering released a statment to Deadline stating that they are disappointed that Oprah is leaving the documentary but they are grateful that she still supports the victims. They say that they are still going to release the documentary at Sundance.

Burt Ward, the Actor Who Played Robin, Was Told to Take Pills to Shrink His Penis

ontd robin.png

People tend to give the character Robin a hard time for being the sidekick to Batman. But Burt Ward, the actor who played Robin on TV, was apparently given a hard time for something else that's hard. The actor was told to take pills to shrink his large bulge!

“They thought that Robin had a very large bulge for television."

"I took [the pills] for three days and then I decided that they can probably keep me from having children... I just used my cape to cover it.” ("It" being his monster bulge.)

Here, Burt shows off the majesty of his bulge. He uses the lemon-yellow cape almost as a stage curtain, or a spotlight, to highlight the gorgeous curves and projection of his dong.

If you could, would you shrink you or your partner's penis?

No, it's perfect the way it is
Yes, it's too big for me
I would increase it if I could
No penises for me, please!

SVU Promo for 21x11: Carisi's First Trial! And Possibly His Last?

In next week's SVU episode, a victim of sexual assault puts up a billboard accusing her rapist, who is a famous athlete. Carisi is tasked with prosecuting him, flying solo for the very first time, and the artist formerly known as Judge Barth (i.e. the awesome Jenna Stern) is the defence attorney. Sounds kinda fun tbh!

ONTD, happy 2020! ❤️❤️❤️ I missed you all, but I did not miss SVU (except literally, because I most certainly did not watch last night's Rollins-fest). So, question time: on a scale of 1 to Done, how sick are you of Rollins, and do you ever daydream about how much more enjoyable the show would be without her? Do you think Kat is 100% correct about, well, everything, but especially about Rollins being a mess? Are you still loving the new Chief? Do you think there's a chance Carisi flops as the ADA and becomes a cop again? Do you think that would not be a bad thing, as long as we got a new, legit ADA? And, lastly, can you believe SVU is now on its 4th decade??? How old does that make us????

Elite Season 3 premieres sometime in March 2020

Elite, which is like Riverdale but (sort of) better, will have its new season a lot quicker than the gap between S1 and S2 - 6 months, in fact! All we know is that it's coming in March 2020, with no trailer and specific date set yet.

We do know that 2 new characters, Yeray (Leïti Sene) and Malick (Sergio Momo) will debut in Season 3, when Carla (Ester Expósito) introduced them in October last year.
