Mac Miller's family announces January 17 release date for posthumous album 'Circles'

Nearly a year and a half after his untimely death at 26, the family of Mac Miller (real name Malcolm James McCormick) announced this morning that his sixth album Circles will see release on January 17.

"At the time of his passing, Malcolm was well into the process of recording his companion album to [2018's] Swimming, entitled Circles. Two different styles complementing each other, completing a circle—Swimming in Circles was the concept," they wrote in an emotional post to the late rapper's Instagram account. "He had been working with [producer] Jon Brion, who after hearing some early versions of songs, cleared his calendar to help Malcolm fine-tune them. After his passing, Jon dedicated himself to finishing Circles based on his time and conversations with Malcolm."

In the interest of "keeping sacred what should be kept sacred," the family will make no further announcements about the album, the artist, or his charity on the @macmiller account. To that end, a new account @92tilinfinity has been established and is already being followed by over 38,000 users.

There will be no Oscar host again this year

The ceremony airs February 9, with nominations announced this upcoming Monday morning.

Jillian Michaels draws criticism after commenting on Lizzo’s body

“I’m sure she’s a cool, awesome chick...but why are we celebrating her body? Why does it matter?” Michaels asked. “Why aren’t we celebrating her music? ‘Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes. I’m just being honest. There’s never a moment where I’m like, ‘and I’m so glad that she’s overweight.’ Like, why do I even care? Why is it my job to care about her weight?”

The View: Andrew Yang, Jamie Oliver, Hot Topics

Today's show on east coast was interrupted by T45 adderall slurring winded blowhard speech.

Andrew Yang

Summary of conversation [Spoiler (click to open)]
Abby starts with Iran. Was the cost worth it, taking out Soleimani. Yang says 75% of Americans don’t want a war with Iran. We shouldn’t be responding disproportionately. We should be negotiating. Joy says not only did we assassinate him, we did it so openly in front of the world, not even in a covert way. Yang says the rumors are that his NSC team presented multiple options, thinking the most extreme measure would push him to the middle option, but he took the worst one. [And what did all the US military do to walk him back? This is on them, as well]. We shouldn’t be making decisions this way, particularly not when lives are at stake. Joy thinks it’s obviously a Wag the Dog moment. Yang thinks America wants a leader with the right temperament, judgment, and values. Yang would push the power to declare war back to Congress, where it’s stated in our Constitution. We’ve been in armed conflict for 20 yrs. People at his campaign stops don’t want this. The money spent on these foreign conflicts should be diverted to programs that help the people. Yang says he would include military experts in his Cabinet (duh, what a dumb question Meghan). Joy reminds that Gen Mattis said, we should be spending more on diplomacy which means you spend less on ammunition. [But he’s gone and won’t speak out and wrote a whole book of T45 sub-tweets context]. Whoopi says Yang has outlasted so many others, but he’s not getting the same media glare as the others. People seem to hear what you’re saying, they’re asking smart questions, and they don’t seem to have the same distaste that some have for other candidates. Yang addresses his campaign approach and why he thinks he’s doing well. Yang talks about how proud he is, to be the first Asian American to run for potus. Says his dad was a peanut farmer and now look at him. Sunny says he’s the most diverse candidate who has raised the most money but polls are low. Yang thinks he’s still too new to a lot of the voters. Says latest poll that he’s the least disappointing of the candidates. Sunny brings up polls from black voters. Yang says he needs to do more to introduce himself to the black community. Talks his vision for poc, thinks his polls will go up. Gets specific about his plan, $1K dividend. Talks about Amazon not paying corporate taxes, closing stores and malls. Average retail clerk is 39 yr old woman making between $8-10/hr. Talks taxing corporations to return that to the people. He wants to give it to the people so they can solve their own problems.

Evelyn, his wife, joins him. Joy says he started his campaign based on his gmail list. What does she make of this. She thought at first it was a phase. He was frustrated after the last election. He convinced her when he talked about his solutions for the country. She thought they were practical doable solutions and the people would like what he has to say. Says he’s also genuine. Abby brings up how open they are. Their two kids. Two boys, the oldest is on the autism spectrum. Son made them parents, but also made them better people. You don’t imagine this for your children, but then you experience it and you realize most don’t have the resources. Yang emphasizes he’s running for potus to help solve the problems that we’re leaving for our kids, and if that’s as potus great but if that’s in some other capacity then also great because we all need to do more. Evelyn laughs and says (VP pick) would need to be a conversation. Yang thanks her for letting him run, and also sacrificing so much while he’s on the road. Whoopi loved his answer to the VP question.

Warner Bros to use AI to greenlight films

In a "this is absolutely go well, definitely not faulty at all" move, Warner Bros has signed a deal with AI company Cinelytic to use their management system for their film business.

WB will use the systems "comprehensive data and predictive analytics" in greenlighting films. The system will help predict how much a film will make at the box office/home streaming as well as the value of cast members in any given territory.

It supposed to help executives reduce time spent on low-value tasks and give better parameters like marketing and release date figures.

Cinelytics founder says the system is only good at breaking down numbers and other data sets, and that anyone worried about creative decision-making should not worry, since AI can't do that. Yet.

👋🏾Spice Up The Oscars!👋🏾, an ONTD Original

First things First:
Don't steal this, don't repurpose it, Don't even read this post.
However, if you are part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, do interact and fix your show.

Now: With the news that for the second year in a row, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will not have a host for the Oscar ceremony on Feb. 9th, let's consider other ways the tedious, long, self-congraduatory show can improve.

Red Carpet:

This is actually pretty okay. You get enough flubs in outfits and awkward interviews so that it doesn't need to be changed a bunch.

But you can...

  • Get rid of Ryan Seacrest.

  • Have someone from Stan Twitter interviewing (Maybe Ira or Hunter Harris)

  • Have one of us interviewing! Who volunteers?

  • Have celebrities interview each other (The people at E! aren't, sorry).

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may Establish a Home in Los Angeles; will Freeze out UK Press

ontd meghan harry.png

Meghan Markle and Not-Prince-For-Much-Longer Harry allegedly plan to establish a second (third?) home in Los Angeles.

If you missed the posts, they made an announcement today that they will no longer continue their duties as senior royals. They made this decision without the queen's knowledge, which apparently blindsided the entire court/staff at Buckingham palace.

The pair stated that they intend to split their time between Canada and the U.K., where they apparently want to keep their taxpayer-funded mansion, Frogmore Cottage. But a source close to Meghan believes that she and Harry may also set up a base in L.A., which is near Meghan's mother.

Also: They apparently intend to freeze out U.K. news outlets and reporters after the slew of racist coverage toward Meghan. Their announcement criticized the crown's current press strategy, which is called the "Royal Rota." This involves one U.K. news outlet covering a royal event at a time and then sharing their reporting with other select outlets. They will no longer participate in this.

Do you think this choice will help them, or backfire?

Help them
