SVU Promo for 21x06: Familiar Faces Return

In next week's SVU episode, a wrongfully accused convict may be freed after 16 years. Also, we will enjoy(?) the reappearance of several faves (and a non-fave). Namely: Tamara Tunie returns as queen/M.E. Warner! Guillermo Diaz most likely returns as that other wrongfully accused convict from that pretty moving Season 13 episode of the Bayard Ellis era, which surprisingly showed us that Benson had gotten a false confession (back when she was allowed to make mistakes). Wentworth Miller(!!!) is also on the guest list, and he better be reprising his role as that one randomly aggressive cop who told a victim to "park it" back in Season 11, or else! Lastly, SVU opposite-of-fave (but otherwise very talented) Michael Weston returns as Benson's brother Simon (lmao wut?), last seen when Nicole Beharie barely escaped his clutches. I don't know about you, but I'm kinda here for this mess.

ONTD, I'm here! I'm fine (a little tired and overworked, but fine!), I am, as always, about to fall asleep because these Friday posts are hard on me and I wish SVU were back on Wednesdays, but this time I actually watched last night's episode and I even enjoyed it! Did you watch? That ~Rollisi~ drama aside, what did you think about the multiple cases angle? And how are you finding the squad/character dynamics? I am starting to really like Kat, the new addition to the squad, and it was nice to see a more seasoned Carisi, acting both as a prosecutor and a cop. Fin also had some great moments, and Mariska was actually doing some good acting (it's been a while!), and the whole episode seemed to flow very well. Season 17 vibes, all around. And then there was messy Rollins, straight out of Season 15, making me miss Amaro. But we can't have it all. So! ONTD! I miss you, I love you, and I will actually try to reply to your comments in this post because I owe to you, after all these years of posts, and I owe it to myself ❤️

Gentle giant Zach Woods gives on brand interview to EW

Leading up to Silicon Valley's sixth and final season, starting Sunday on HBO, Zach sat down with Entertainment Weekly. Here are some choice quotes, but the whole thing is absolutely worth a read.

Zach on love
"I believe that one of the challenges with loving somebody is subjecting them to your own imperfections. That can be one of the brutal parts of loving someone — you have to allow them access to you in all your disappointing imperfections."

"[...] in The Velveteen Rabbit, there’s the section where the rabbit asks the skin horse what is real, and the answer is, if you love something for a really long time, like really love it, then you become real. And I feel that is true for characters, and I feel that is the job of actors, to love these fictional people into existence. [...] And I don’t just believe this about characters, I also believe it about everything that is loved. Jesus Christ, kill me, I sound like a cult leader."

Zach on TV shows that go on too long
"I think it’s better to end at a point where you’re paying off the story in a satisfying way as opposed to just hooking the show up to life support and waiting for its organs to fail. "

Zach on the SV finale
"I can guarantee that the finale will be the greatest 30 minutes of any viewer’s — not just TV experience — but of their life. The birth of your first child will seem like a minor car accident in comparison to the joy that this finale brings you."

Zach on the upcoming Armando Iannucci-helmed HBO show Avenue 5
"It could be one of those brilliant things but I don’t actually know. I will say that I thought the scripts were so funny and bold. Holy s—, that show is insane. If the show that ends up on screen is anything like the scripts that they wrote, it is ballsy."

Zach on having been able to work on so many quality projects
"In The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews says, “Somewhere in my youth I must have done something good,” because she feels so elated to be with Christopher Plummer and the kids. And I actually don’t believe that, I don’t believe I had to do anything good in my childhood, it’s just dumb luck — and I thank my f—ing lucky stars every day that I get to work with all these people."

ONTD have you accepted you are worthy of love even though you are imperfect?

  • No Time To Die, the 25th James Bond film and the fifth starring Daniel Craig as 007, has finally wrapped shooting.

  • The film has run into many obstacles along the way to the finish line.

  • A quick recap: Bond 25 was scheduled to start filming in 2018 with Danny Boyle directing (ONTD post), but after several months, he was fired due to creative differences (ONTD post) and Cary Fukunaga was hired (ONTD post). Several months later, the cast was revealed, with many returning stars (Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Jeffrey Wright, Lea Seydoux and Rory Kinnear) and several newcomers to the Bond franchise, like Rami Malek, Ana De Armas, Billy Magnussen, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik and Lashana Lynch. Watch out, Michael Ché - Colin Jost Has a New BFF!

In news none of you asked for... CNN documented the "reunion" between fellow Harvard bros, Colin Jost and South Bend's absent Mayor, Peter Buttigieg! Both Jost & Buttigieg attended Harvard at the same time and even lived in the same dormitory, though Jost would like you to know they weren't actually friends while at Harvard. Which, weirdly, seems to be a running theme with literally everyone who went to Harvard with Peter. 🤔 Jost is currently impersonating Buttigieg on SNL, an impersonation that consists entirely of Jost standing on his knees while making robot sounds.

BET Debuted 2 New Series 'The Oval' And 'Sistas'

The Oval and Sistas were both created, written, executive produced and directed by Tyler Perry.

Scandal 'The Oval' described as “the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power while also highlighting the personal side and everyday lives of the staff who run the inner workings of the nation’s most iconic residence.”

“The Oval is not a political show. It’s a story of an interracial couple in the White House. It’s about following them upstairs to the residence, following the Secret Service home, following the maids and the butlers home. It’s a powerful, fun thing for me." - Tyler Perry

Girlfriends “Sistas” is described as a show that “follows a group of single black females from different walks of life who bond over their one common thread: why am I single? In this bold new series, viewers watch these women navigate their 'complicated love life' status, careers and friendship through the ups-and-downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals.”

Is ‘Modern Love’ Only for White Women?

The show had a total exclusion of Black, brown, and Indigenous women as love interests.
Not one woman of color was a love interest. The show is set in NYC.
They fulfilled support roles for White women and men of color.
Women of color are merely therapists, domestic workers, and ever-patient maternal friends.
The exclusion of women of color in this series is so blatant that it can only be intentional.
In the show, men of color — two Black men, one Indian man, and one Japanese man — are all shown either in love, falling in love, or trying to fall in love with White people.

[Spoiler about Hathaway's character]"Hathaway's character, Lexi hides her mental illness from everyone. She is afforded chance after chance in her romantic and professional life. When she misses weeks of work, she still has a job. When she’s distant and controlling toward Jeff, he still wants to form a connection. When her boss — a Black woman — is finally forced to fire Lexi, she still drops professional commitments to listen and care for Lexi after she finally admits that she is bipolar, eventually becoming her close friend."

First season included Tina Fey, Julia Garner, Anne Hathaway, Catherine Keener, Dev Patel, Andrew Scott, John Slattery and Andy Garcia, among others.

The anthology 'Modern Love' was renewed for a second season by Amazon.
