It’s finally here! Today Nintendo officially launched “Mario Kart Tour” for iOS and Android. It features race tracks from various MK games over the years. The game, like Nintendo’s other mobile releases, is free-to-play with in-app purchases (in-game currency are “rubies”) that you use for upgrades and unlocks. Current criticism facing the newly launched game is the fact that the 200cc tier (as well as exclusive characters, karts and other items) are locked behind a subscription service (Gold Pass) that costs $4.99 a month.
“Mario Kart Tour” also lacks any kind of multiplayer at launch (you race against bots for now). According to a UI item on the newly-launched mobile game’s menu screen, it states that multiplayer will be “available in a future version update.”

it’s been a long year for gucci, as it has both sought to stay on the cutting edge of fashion and convince the world it’s made some major positive changes since the “blackface sweater” controversy that rocked the legendary fashion house this january.
proving that the label still loves to provoke, creative director alessandro michele, once again courted controversy on sunday with gucci’s spring/summer 2020 show in milan--the label's its first entirely carbon-neutral presentation. according to w magazine. the show opened with a series of models in reportedly straitjacket-inspired looks, all of whom emerged from “a set of corrugated metal gates” on a conveyor belt-like runway.
model and artist, ayesha tan-jones (a.k.a.: yaya bones), who is nonbinary, used the moment to make a powerful statement about mental health, holding up their palms to relay a written message: “mental health is not fashion.”
kept an Emmys diary for @bustle - tons of CELEB DIRT & JUICY GOSSIP!!! (Jk mostly just talked about how my feet hurt by the end of the night) https://t.co/zkpEGmSCK9
Everyone's favorite Janet D'Arcy Carden kept an Emmys diary for Bustle. You can read the full entry at the source, but here are some highlights:
- She got a facial in the morning, but skipped Pilates in favor of hanging out with her husband and her dog, Penny. - Got ready for the Emmys with her The Good Place co-star Kristen Bell and their glam teams at a hotel in DTLA (which is near the theater where the Emmys are hosted). - Was cocky about the amount of time she had to get ready, but needed some last minute adjustments and ended up running about 30 minutes late to the carpet. - Talks about how hot the carpet was, and how everyone waiting for pics has blotting tissues and towels to keep from looking sweaty. - Ran into coworkers from both The Good Place and Barry, and Bill Hader introduced her to Sam Rockwell. Ended up sitting next to costar Manny Jacinto, behind the cast of Succession. - Hit up the Governor's Ball, HBO's party at the Pacific Design Center and Amazon's party at the Chateau Marmont. - Her heels hurt her feet after a long day, but she brought backup Chucks for the afterparties.
Icymi Gabby Giffords was the House Rep (D-AZ) who was shot and nearly killed thanks to Sarah I can see Russia from my house Palin rhetoric on guns and Democrats. She’s married to Mark Kelly, former Navy combat veteran and astronaut. Kelly is campaigning to take the Senate seat vacated by (wait for it) John McCain.
Summary of conversation [Spoiler (click to open)] [MM is surprisingly calm and respectful in this segment]
MyFather™ but tbf it was correct usage in the sentence 😃 Shows photo of Giffords and Kelly. MM wants to know what prompted him to run for office. Kelly starts off with nicey nice things about John McCain. Discusses what his drivers are, and how they relate to what he believes is important specifically to AZ. Abby asks about Gabby, he talks about her recovery, does her Tour de Tucson. Abby wonders if it gives him pause, after what happened to her. He discusses his mindset, says the things he faced in war and space, still Gabby faced worse. Whoopi wants to talk about climate change. Kelly geeks out about being in space (cute). He went into space 4 times, talks about the changes he saw of earth from space.
Sunny asks about violence threat to Kelly from AZ RNC Chair in opposition campaign email. Kelly talks about handling that. Joy brings up gun control, asks his opinion on Beto remark re/gun buy-back. Kelly talks about guns he owns, uses, some were inherited from family. Said he supports gun control issues that are broadly agreed upon, not necessarily buying back guns. MM brings up Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), is she too moderate or is he too moderate. Sunny asks about impeachment, short version-he supports inquiry. Says he swore an oath to the US. Rule of law is paramount.
A big part of the leadup to Scorsese's The Irishman is the useage of CGI to de-age its stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. And today, the film's twitter gave a little tease of what they will look like for De Niro.
De Niro will appear on tonight's worst talk show Fallon along with a new trailer, that will most likely continue showing off the de-aged looks.
The film premieres Friday at the NY Film Festival.

Beyoncé has been entangled in a legal battle with Wendy Morales over trademarking her daughter's name. Morales believes that Beyoncé shouldn't be allowed to trademark "Blue Ivy" because she has an event planning business of the same name. Beyoncé feels like she should have trademark rights to the title because her daughter is a "cultural icon."
Morales' company was in operation three years before Blue Ivy was born. Beyoncé's legal teams claims before specifying that the claim is for 'Blue Ivy Carter' and not just 'Blue Ivy.'"
Beyoncé and JAY-Z first applied for the trademark in 2012. They were denied the application shortly after it was filed.
The fourth season premiere of This Is Usintroduced three major new characters. 3 storylines about characters the audience had never met before converged with the Pearsons at the end.
[Spoiler (click to open)] • Jennifer Morrison is a military veteran at a support group where present-day Nicky gets in trouble for throwing a chair through the window. She will play a big part in Kevin's story moving forward and obviously Nicky's.
• Asante Blackk is a teen in Randall's new home of Philadelphia who connects with Deja at a barbecue. Interesting stuff coming that deals with perception, it deals with class, it deals with race. Stuff coming that is so romantic between these two.
• Blake Stadnik is a far-future version of newborn baby Jack, it was revealed at the end of the premiere he was born without sight. Kate's son was born prematurely, and retinopathy is more common in premature babies. It was important to find an actor who was both blind in real life and a talented singer. The rest of the flash-forwards in the first part of the season will go back to Rebecca's death bed.

This year, Starbucks introduced its seasonal pumpkin spice latte on August 27th - the earliest date ever. Last year, Forbes and Nielsen valued the overall pumpkin spice industry - with products from brands including Pop-Tarts, Sam Adams, and Chobani - at $600 million. More than any other brand, Starbucks brought pumpkin spice to the masses with its latte, which the company first released in 2003. How did a single flavor come to take over the fall season - and is there still room for growth? Or have we reached peak pumpkin spice?
- Keke and Sara comment on an article asking if partners should deleate exes from social media.
- Keke says absolutely delete everything, even if it was your birthday. Sara says she comes from a different time, and social media is like a history book to her as it holds all the chapters that brought her to the present.

“Listen, I just want to say: I would give my song to Jennifer Lopez to dance to for free, any day, any time,” Apple, 42, said. “I really want to see the movie. If I were a person who actually left my house, I’d go.”
Regarding of how she feels about the response toward the music video for Criminal when it was released to its use now in the movie "The way it started, the video, all the crap I got — using this song now, and using it in this movie for a purpose I believe in, is like reclaiming it"
Another single, another slay - underground pop songstress LIZ drops her third single of the year "Lottery" following "BTR 2GTHR" and "Diamond in the Dark". She spoke to Paper Magazine about the release of the single as well as her upcoming full length project -
- About the ode to Nadia Oh behind "Lottery"
"I wanted to make a track as an ode to Nadia Oh. I feel like her work with Space Cowboy really paved the way for a lot of future pop girls today. Her CGI visual style was super glossy and felt earnest and un-ironic at the time. Us girls play around with those kinds of aesthetics now, because we're nostalgic for the early 00's. But, Nadia was doing it in real time, and probably had no idea the kind of influence she would have on underground pop culture in the future."
- Blackout inspiration
"This track is also a nod to Danja and Britney. Blackout was such an iconic club record. It was the soundtrack to my first year going out to nightclubs in Hollywood, and all the debauchery that ensued."
- Her transition as an artist in the past few years
"In a way, I'm starting over and re-branding myself. After surviving quite the transition in the music industry, it feels really liberating to be putting out a full length project, especially on commercial streaming services. Going from the world of underground blog culture and constant free releases on SoundCloud to then sitting on a major label for years without putting out much content, it's a fresh place to be in now where I have the freedom to release independently at my own desired pace."
- The next mixtape
"Kylie Minogue, Britney, Vengaboys, DJ Sammy vibes — but, like today...
The mixtape is very euro-clubby, dance oriented, and Y2K (obviously). It's definitely more pop-leaning than R&B, but I wanted to keep a cohesive vibe rather than try to do everything under the sun just because I could. The project has just as much substance and heart to it as it is cheeky and carefree."
Join Claire Saffitz in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen as she attempts to make a gourmet version of Hot Pockets!
Everybody remembers where they were on that day in 1983 when Hot Pockets first appeared. It was a giant leap into the future. A miracle some called it, for nobody could seem to say where the Hot Pockets came from. They just existed. Food, and therefore humanity, would never be the same again. The efficiency, the culinary explosion, a modern miracle that truly served as an evolutionary step for all of mankind. An entire meal in a pocket that you could hold in your hand. Joy in the streets was met by existential dread. Where could humanity go from here? Had we truly reached our civilizational zenith? Religions formed over night, some might even say cults. But then a second flavor appeared. And then a third. And now over fifty, each richer and more complex than the last. Since that day in 1983, humanity has been on the precipice of our next phase of being, but for one obstacle in the way.
How are you supposed do you eat a Hot Pocket without burning the hell out of the inside of your mouth? I mean, come on. It’s crazy hot, but it’s seriously impossible to wait just five minutes until it comes out of the microwave. No, I need it now. Give me that Hot Pocket.
I asked Malik Yoba about concerns that his motives to support trans causes were seen as insincere & allegations he solicited sex from a minor performing survival sex work. He stormed off the set cursing and throwing our equipment to the floor. FULL VIDEO: https://t.co/2e0zPa9Sv1
Malik Yoba sat down on-camera with Terrell Starr of The Root to talk about being an ally to the transgender community, what prompted him to "step up," and his upcoming workshop scheduled to coincide with (but has no affiliation with) the National Trans Visibility March.
Some have questioned his sincerity, whether he's qualified to speak about trans issues and his tendency to center himself when doing so.
He has been accused by trans women of allegedly soliciting sex from them when they were underage. (Previous ONTD Post)
Feige is working with Kathleen Kennedy to develop a new Star Wars movie for Disney. Iger said “We determined we’d be better off as a company to release a sequel to ‘Star Wars’ than not yet determined films.”
Iger also called “Star Wars” a “sustainable source of high-quality content with global appeal.” This comes after low attendance at both US parks for the past fiscal year for Disney, despite opening Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
