Mad Magazine to Effectively Shutter After 67 Years

The satirical magazine that gave the world Alfred E. Neuman, will effectively cease publication some time later this year after 67 years.

Sources say that after issue 9, the magaizine will no longer be sold on newsstands and will only be available through comic book shops and mailed to subscribers.

After issue 10, there will no longer be new content save for the year end specials.

Starting with issue 11, the magazine will only feature previously published content — classic and best-of nostalgic fare — from its vault of material from the past 67 years.

Jeremy Renner Reveals He Turned Down ‘Hellboy’ Role In 2004 Because He ‘Couldn’t Connect To It’

Talking to Justin Long on his podcast “Life Is Short” Renner revealed he turned down the lead role in Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 film “Hellboy”.

“I was just reading the script and [thinking] like, ‘I don’t get this…’ I just couldn’t connect to it,” he said.

Renner has “zero regrets” turning down the role. “Most of the time it’s like, ‘Oh, I’m glad I didn’t do it,’ and it made sense to me. Not just ‘Hellboy’ or whatever it was, and I’m not saying that it’s a good or bad movie, it’s not about that… I just wouldn’t have fit there,” he said.

Ron Perlman went on to play Hellboy in the 2004 film and its sequel, while “Stranger Things” star David Harbour took over the role in the 2019 reboot.

i thought i would be listening to anoraak non-stop, but pat lok caught me off guard and i keep revisiting corazón--especially "from the back"--
"...i just want hit it from the back

you can call me dad and i'll give it a smack
i just wanna hit it from the back
you can call me dad and i think you like that..."

Asap Rocky was arrested earlier this week in Sweden, after participating in a street fight. He was first charged for aggravated assault and his charge now has been reduced to assault. Today (July 5th) Sweden Prosecution Authority has decided to hold him for two extra weeks (and could be more). If convicted, he could face 6 years in prison.

In one of the videos, ASAP Rocky (whose real name is Rakim Mayers) is seen telling the men they don't want to fight, "we not trying to go to jail . . . It's OK, bro, chill," he said. In a second video ASAP Rocky accuses the man of hitting is security guard with headphones in the face.

He's on a festival tour and has already missed a Open'er Festival in Poland. He's going to miss Wireless in the UK and Longitude in Ireland on Friday.

It’s Friday! Rebecca Black explains her rise and fall with viral hit “Friday”

Rebecca Black shares all the details, from start to finish, of how the massive internet moment changed her life.

In 2010, when she was in 7th grade she saw another girl at school filming a music video with friends.

Asked that girl how she did that and she mentioned it was through a company (Ark Music Factory).

She then asked her mom fully expecting her to say no, but her mom agreed.

Ark Music Factory originally sent her a song called “Super Woman.” It was about being a boy’s super woman.

She didn’t think it was the right fit for her and asked for another song.

They then sent her a song called “It’s Friday.” She agreed to record it.

Didn’t hear the song until the day of filming the music video.

Went to Forever 21 for her outfit and invited her friends to film the video at her house.

Her video was finally uploaded on February 10, 2011. It initially got around 3,000 views.

Says one month later the company reached out to tell her that “Friday” was featured on Tosh 2.0.

The views and negative comments started rolling in, which crushed her and made her cry.

After her mom called Ark Music Factory, the company offered to take down the video before it got any bigger.

She thought about it, but ultimately decided not to because she felt it would be even more embarrassing to remove it. She also didn’t want to let the negativity win, she had a fire within her to fight back.

Once the song and video continued to go viral, people started approaching Rebecca’s parents for various interviews and opportunities.

Told them they were going to make a lot of money.

She had to stop going to public school because her grades were suffering and kids at school were being mean to her. Began being home schooled.

Lost a lot of her friends.

Despite the hard times, she’s grateful for the good like being in Katy Perry’s music video, attending awards shows and red carpets, etc.

Says 2011 was one of the best and worst years of her life.

2012 however was the darkest year for her.

The people around her tried to control her and didn’t care or listen to her.

When she turned 16 she fired everyone.

Went back to school and started her own YouTube channel that was on her own terms.

In 2016 started writing and putting out her own music.

Is putting out more music this year and going on tour.

Jack Reynor Talks Doing Full Frontal in Midsommar

On the movie ruining flaky pies for him: It’s hard to eat them now without having flashbacks of putting [Spoiler (click to open)]pubic hairs in my mouth. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a Cornish pasty the same way again.

On getting to create this shitty bf character: I was fascinated by this archetypal alpha male character being stripped of absolutely everything over the course of the film. He suffers this very humiliating and exposing fate, and that’s something that I’ve really only ever seen that happening to female characters in the horror genre especially in a sexual context. So, it was an opportunity to be part of something that flipped that on its head, and I really wanted to engage with the experience of it by advocating for as much full-frontal nudity as possible.

On doing nudity when he'd said in the past that he wouldn't do it: I recognized that this is something that really only happens to women in horror films, and it’s an opportunity to do something different, something that feels new. As an actor, you want to find things to do that haven’t really been seen by a mainstream audience, particularly. So, this was certainly an opportunity to do that, and I felt very ready to do it. I don’t have an issue with the nudity; it’s more an issue of the mental space that I needed to occupy throughout that entire sequence. That was the part that I think was really difficult.

I just wanted to talk about this cathartic weirdly funny movie

Naomi Campbell only eats when she feels like it

In an interview with the British television show Lorraine, supermodel Naomi Campbell admits that she decides when to eat based on how she’s feeling that day.

“I eat when I feel like it,” she said. “I don’t starve myself. If I want to do a day of just not eating, I do it and just do water or juice. Depends how I feel.”

Campbell added that she doesn’t eat on warmer days.

“In the heat, sometimes I don’t [eat], I just want to do juice,” she said. “It’s too hot. [It’s] never planned. It could be one day, it could be two days a week. It’s just when I feel like it.”

#WeStandWithNicki trends on twitter after Nicki Minaj has (another) meltdown via instagram caption

Nicki Minaj took to instagram to look back on releasing her first mixtape. She felt the need to remind her followers that she has had more influence on music than she is given credit for. "12 years ago I dropped my 1st mixtape. Wrote every single word on every single song. I was so proud of that. Eventually the barbz were all wearing pink hair, Chinese bangs, & Barbie chains. Colorful wigs came all the way back in style. Everyone became Barbies & Dolls. I always shouted out my influences in my interviews," she writes.

She then goes on to shame the artists who have not given her credit for her alleged influence on them. She continues, "Now a days, it’s become cool to pretend u weren’t influenced by other artists. S/O to the ones big enough to do it: Kash, Asian, Cuban, Saweetie, Meg, Malibu, YOUNG MA, Ms. Banks, Lady Leshurr, etc. No female rapper (other than Trina) did a song w/me or congratulated me on my billboard accomplishments. I didn’t mind. I never felt they were obligated to do so. Just like Beyoncé isn’t obligated to congratulate or collaborate with Normani, etc. — I never had a crusade by radio stations, influencers & blogs to make my song number 1 when Anaconda was #2 on the Hot 100. I never had a group of men in the studio writing my songs for me so it took a while between albums."

Nicki then goes on to call out the writers who aren't giving her enough credit for all that she's achieved. "Please stop these write ups about what I didn’t do. Y’all are rlly sick & ima call y’all out one by one on Queen Radio. Most of yall doing these write ups have never fought for anything in life. You just sit on the sidelines & watch the doers do!!!! To my fans; I love, cherish you, adore you, and thank you. God bless you."

The ending part of her original caption was deleted due to backlash from Little Monsters. In the now deleted part, Nicki wrote, "Billboard, ya'll wrote a piece about how a white artist influenced me, Bey & Rih?????? Where's the article on the black girl who charted after 10 years of no female rapper charting? I didn't influence trends I guess... go fckn figure." It's clear that the "white artist" she was referring to was Lady Gaga. She might've deleted it after realizing how dumb she looks trying to deny Gaga's influence while simutaniously asking others to admit her influence on them.

Are you going to #standwithnicki ONTD? Does Nicki's talent deserve more credit or has she already ruined her legacy with her life choices?

Nicki Minaj Asked to Cancel Saudi Arabia Concert by Human Rights Foundation

Minaj is one of the headliners of the festival, along with Liam Payne, Steve Aoki and R3 Wire & Varski.
The letter criticizes Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who financed the event.
Any woman attending will need to obtain permission from a man and must be accompanied to attend.

“You recently celebrated Pride Week to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ community. Yet, if you move forward with this performance, you will be condoning, and serving the public relations needs, of a government that executes homosexuals for the “crime” of being who they are. It would be disastrous for a public figure of your standing who has articulated a commitment to education, women’s rights, and social justice.”
