Your Favorite YouTube Celebrities Give You Cooking Tips

I enjoy posting BA videos when celebrities cook back to back with Carla Music, but I realized if we can have posts and the Paul brothers (I didn’t know there were two of them until now), someone named Tana, and David Dobrik (that one was my fault, sorry), then we can and should have posts highlighting the best people on youtube.

I am certain I saw someone on ONTD ask if Claire, Brad, Chris, Andy, Molly, Gaby, Rick, Priya, and fuck I am probably missing someone OMG CARLA HOW COULD I FORGET HER JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. Anyway, someone posited that these lovely people were youtube celebrities for elder millennials. Those of us who were here when ONTD was blue are probably mostly in that age demographic.

So, here we go. Claire is not in this video, but Amiel — the one who wears tinted sunglasses — and the lovely Priya are. I am waiting for an episode wear Priya’s dad cooks WITH her in the video because I would scream.

Wanna know if you can fix burnt toast? Can’t pry out baked goods from the pan? Your pasta gets too mushy? Brad, Chris, Gaby, Carla, Andy, Amiel, Molly, and Priya are here to help answer your most pressing questions!! Also Chris fields a question on chocolate but it’s not specifically about tempered chocolate.

Also give us more Rick and let him wear a different nail polish color but only if he wants to.

Taylor Swift Announces Amazon Prime Day Headlining Concert!

Hot off her #2 single that compares homophobia to the hate that she personally faces online, Taylor Swift has announced she will be headlining a concert for Amazon, a company where employees are confirmed to have to piss in bottles in order to keep their jobs. Swift will be performing as a part of Prime Day, which will be streamed live to individuals who subscribe to Amazon Prime. Other performers include SZA, Dua Lipa & Becky G.

In her public letter to her senator earlier this month, Taylor made a point to mention that Amazon may not follow through with their planned "hub" in Tennessee due to the proposed laws that would allow discrimination against the LGBT+ community. Although they already had signed a letter opposing such discrimination, Amazon has not committed to change their plans to move to Tennessee if these laws are enacted.

LGBT Advocacy group "No Gay? No Way!" commented on Amazon's statement / lack of action earlier this year, in a statement published by The Tennessean:

"A statement is nice, but actions speak louder than words," Gaughan said in an emailed statement after Amazon responded for comment. "If Amazon is serious about LGBT rights, they will financially support the Tennessee advocacy groups fighting these bills, and they will put their own social and political capital to good use. They have the power to make a difference, through their strong corporate relationships. There’s a huge difference between actual leadership and a statement."

It is unknown how much Taylor is being paid for this event, and if it's more than the $113,000 she donated to The Tennessee Equality Project earlier this year.

Nicki Minaj latest feud is with BET

Nicki Minaj's latest target is BET.

The rapper took to Twitter to laugh at the network's low ratings for the BET Awards, after a 'music fact' account alleged the award show received their lowest ratings ever. "When u go out of ur way to b spiteful & hurt artists who have always supported ur show," she tweeted. "When you fire great ppl who have put their heart & soul into the show... when you’d rather be a messy reality show than a prestigious award show... when ur still being dragged by that lace."

BET has previously awarded Minaj 11 times, consecutively giving her the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist award until Remy Ma's win in 2017, followed by Cardi B taking home the award for the past 2 years.

Julian Castro Talks Debate Feedback, Family Separations, Tr/mp, Reproductive Rights, Border Crisis

[The panel says who they are when talking because he has audio (with a few secs delay) but no video]
NYT called Castro the breakout star, Google said search of his name up 2400% since last night. [He did so well!] Whoopi wanted to know if he’s slept, he jokes No. He gives The View credit for bringing on all the candidates regardless of polling, to give them a voice. Switches to his debate strategy, he’s happy. Sunny thought he had a lot of drop-the-mic moments, especially on immigration. She brings up remarks with Beto re/border crossings. Castro talks again the 1325 Immigration and Nationality Act and he wants it to be a civil violation not criminal violation, he feels his plan is different. [That was a great debate moment calling everyone else to get on board].

[Skip second clip if you just can’t take her today]. Me-again brings up open borders blah blah, Castro brings up difference between civil and criminal behavior, calls out this “right wing talking point”, mentions how much border structure we already have, bloop. Me-again is rude ugh. She tries to pretend he needs to win over people like her (lol she’s never voting Dem what a liar). Castro repeats we shouldn’t criminalize desperation. WE ALREADY HAVE LAWS for drugs and human trafficking. Article 1325 specifically is about family separation. Me-again wants another explanation why he is different from Beto.

Joy felt it was civilized, especially in comparison to GOP in 2016. She wonders why he didn’t go after the others. Castro laughs and talks his game again. He can hold his own without tearing other people down [classy]. He says Dems won’t beat Tr/mp by being like him. Joy thinks base wants him to take on Tr/mp (uh not that way?). His closing statement was awesome On Jan 20 2021 we get to say Adios to Tr/mp. Sunny brings up reproductive rights, Castro clarifies the trans element, and he wants to repeal Hyde.

Kim Kardashian under fire for saying Jordyn Woods owes everything to Kylie Jenner

In last weekend's episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashian's, the sisters discuss the Jordyn Woods / Tristan Thompson cheating drama on a group phone call. Many viewers took issue that the conversation seemed so focused on Woods rather than Thompson, and Kim added more fuel to the fire by making a remark about how Jordyn 'provides for her whole family' from the opportunities Kylie's given her:

"Kylie, she provides for her whole family off of what you have given her. And the disrespect of, just, like, she has to know that there's a problem."

Jordyn's response:

“I definitely work very hard for a lot of the things that I have, and as you can see, I’m out here hustling and I’ve always been working. I started modeling when I was 18 and, you know, I work hard.”

Guess Who's Not Going to Comic Con 2019? It's Sony!

In case you wanted to see anythinig from Morbius, or Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, or Zombieland: Double Tap, or The Grudge, or Charlie's Angels, or, if you're like me, Bloodshot, we are shit out of luck, as Sony Pictures is the latest in big studios to skip the slowly-becoming-more-niche-again-con.

Last year, they were present to advertise Venom and Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse.

Studios confirmed to attend are Marvel, Paramount ("Sonic the Hedgehog") and New Line (WB Subsidiary that makes all those Conjuring spinoffs).

More than 8 global brands have stolen designs from Mexican indigenous groups

Translated from Spanish

While a Chiapas woman takes up to 50 work hours to handcraft a blouse with the traditional design of her people just to sell it for $200 Mexican pesos (approx. $8.50 USD), Zara has mass produced similar garments to sell them for about $27 USD, harming the already fragile economy of these people.

Indigenous associations denounce this is not the first time Inditex group brands have stolen their intellectual property without proper remuneration, they have also accused groups of Chinese entrepreneurs and, American brand Santa Marguerite, infamous for stealing a huipil (traditional tunic) design and featured it on Instagram, the outrage caused the brand to close its profile. The effects are felt on the communities, that cannot compete with these fashion giants, since people prefer to buy from their stores.

The indigenous communities that are more affected are from the states of Chiapas, Oaxaca and Hidalgo. The associations seek to achieve an ethical commerce to protect their collective heritage since these designs are not only a piece of clothing, but they also have meanings and represent their cosmovision.

New staging of Enid Blyton's Malory Towers story reimagines tomboy character as non-binary

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Director Emma Rice talked about the changes she made in her stage play based on Enid Blyton's "Malory Towers," a book series about the adventures at a girls' boarding school.

"Student-wise, we have kept the characters from the books, but I have cast actors from diverse backgrounds (as opposed to the all‑white world of Forties Enid Blyton) to more accurately reflect the times we live in. I have also cast a fantastic non-binary performer [Vinnie Heaven, who doesn’t identify as male or female] as Bill, or Wilhelmina, Robinson. Bill is portrayed as a tomboy in the books, but, thanks to the progress we have made as a society, people like Bill are now able to express their identity in other ways. It’s very moving to look back and see people who may have been transgender or gay or a member of another community at a time when there simply wasn’t the language to talk about it."

In the original books, Bill is described as “somebody who, except for the school tunic, looked exactly like a boy”, with short hair and a “boyish grin”. In one scene, Bill tells the other students, "I’ve never in my life been called Wilhelmina. Ever. It’s a frightful name. Everyone calls me Bill… If you all start calling me Wilhelmina I shall be miserable. I shan’t feel I’m myself.”

Babadook Roundup: Director Comments on Gay Icon Status, Second Edition of Pop-Up Book, and More

Jennifer Kent was speaking with EW about her new film Nightingale when the publication asked her about the Babadook's memetic status as a gay icon.

"I’m still trying to work that one out...It’s quite perplexing. I feel it’s really quite beautiful, but I still have no idea why. I mean, I kind of do. I guess he’s an outsider of sorts. It’s funny. It’s charming, I think, that the gay community has latched onto it. It’s really sweet. He’s trying to prolong his life, he’s trying to stay relevant.”

She even owns a special edition rainbow cover copy of the film on Blu Ray that was put out by Shout Factory earlier this month with a portion of the sales benefitting the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

“I got one in the mail,” she says. “It’s got pride of place on my bookshelf.”
