Nathalie Emmanuel talks about Missandei and lack of diversity+ S08E05 LIVE VIEWING POST

-On what Missandei's death meant: “So this is a conversation going forward about when you’re casting shows like this, that you are inclusive in your casting. I knew what it meant that she was there, I know what it means that I am existing in the spaces that I am because when I was growing up, I didn’t see people like me. But it wasn’t until she was gone that I really felt what it really, truly meant, until I saw the outcry and outpouring of love and outrage and upset about it, I really understood what it meant.”

-On Missandei dying in chains: I guess when I saw that she gets captured and she dies in chains, I just felt the weight of that and what that really means, I really felt, I was heartbroken for her really. But I think in a story sense, it doesn’t matter that she’s a good kind person, she is not safe and in the grand scheme of things, she’s disposable really. That is the hard reality of the world of Game of Thrones and the world they’ve created, even that person who’s so kind and loving and calm and harmless, even that person can be taken away. I think the fact that she died in chains when she was a slave her whole life, that for me was a pungent cut for that character, that felt so painful but like I said, it’s the reality of the world.

United Airlines In-Flight Safety Video features Spider-Man

In an effort to advertise SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME in theaters this July, United teamed up with Columbia / Marvel / Sony to make this video. Spiderman solves crimes around the city while United employees give instructions that are fairly unhelpful to those of us not on an airplane at the moment.

I have 0 idea if that is Tom Holland in the suit, but there is a tiny cameo by Tony Revolori (Flash).

Spider-Man does not voice an opinion on reclining seats, lemon water, or kids flying alone.

Kim Petras drops new single "Sweet Spot," continues bankrolling Dr. Luke

Less than a week after releasing the midtempo "Blow It All," German singer-songwriter Kim Petras took to social media last night to surprise fans with yet another new, dancier track. "Sweet Spot" finds the 26 year old once again joining forces with disgraced former-mega-producer Dr. Luke, as well as fellow frequent collaborators Aaron Joseph and Vaughn Oliver.

This is Petras' 23rd collaboration with Luke (real name Łukasz Gottwald), who she controversially defended against allegations of sexual assault by Kesha last spring, telling NME, "I wouldn't work with somebody I believe to be an abuser of women." Gottwald, who since parting ways with Sony Music in 2017 has taken to working with such R&B acts as Ne-Yo and Trey Songz under the pseudonym MADE IN CHINA, is credited as producer and/or co-writer on all of Petras' releases with the exception of "Fear of Falling," her collaboration with American electronic trio Cheat Codes.

Kacey Musgraves turns down a “shoey” during Aussie show: “I'm not f—ing drinking out of your shoe”

Over the weekend during a concert in Australia at Sydney’s Enmore Theater, a member of the audience suggested that Kacey Musgraves do a “shoey.” What is a shoey? 🤔 It’s a local custom where the participant drinks alcohol out of someone else’s shoe.

Musgraves then explains that she had heels on and wouldn’t be able to do it. She then asks if she has to drink out of the audience member’s own shoe, the crowd then shouts “yes!” Like a Queen, she immediately shuts it down and responds, “I’m not fucking drinking out of your shoe. You could have athlete’s foot or something. I don’t need that right now.”

Felicity Huffman pleads guilty in college admissions scheme

Since Huffman had a plea agreement that she would plead guilty, prosecutors are recommending at least four months in prison. It's possible that she could argue for a more lenient sentence. However, all of this will boil down to a federal judge giving the final say in her sentencing.

The actor that played Barristan said that George had written his books already:
“George has already written Books 6 and 7, and as far as he’s concerned there only are seven books. But he struck an agreement with David and Dan, the showrunners on the series, that he would not publish the final two books until the series has completed. So if all goes well, in another month or two we might get Books 6 and 7, and I’m intrigued to know how Barristan, for instance, ends up going through those final two books. George, I talked to him during Season 1 and he did say to me that Barristan had a very interesting journey. But unfortunately I didn’t get to play all of that, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

You know, it’s complex. I’m a little sad, actually,” Martin admitted. “I wish we had a few more seasons. But I understand. Dave and Dan are gonna go on to do other things, and I’m sure some of the actors were signed up for like seven or eight years, and they would like to go on and take other roles. All of that is fair. I’m not angry or anything like that, but there’s a little wistfulness in me.

Last Night's Game of Thrones Episode is the Worst Rated Ever

Game of Thrones has managed to only have 3 "rotten" episodes in its enire run. It was not until Season 5's "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" episode that garnered its first rotten score at 54%. The episode had that scene with Sansa.

The show still did well in terms of critic ratings and has not had a rotten episode until last week's "The Last of the Starks" episode. That episode managed a 57% score.

Yesterday's the "Bells" episode outdid them all, garnering a 49% score - so far.

Critic consensus reads:

Death, destruction, and the deterioration of Daenerys' sanity make "The Bells" an episode for the ages; but too much plot in too little time muddles the story and may leave some viewers feeling its conclusions are a little unearned.

CPS Removes One of Jenelle Eason's Kids In Wake of Dog Killing Incident

In "IT TOOK YOU PEOPLE LONG ENOUGH" news, it is being reported that Jenelle's son with ex Nathan Griffith, Kaiser, has been removed from his current home with noted unfit mother Jenelle and her abusive, homophobic, Nugget-murdering, and generally unhinged piece of shit husband David Eason in the wake of the latest horrible incident. Kaiser is now living with Nathan.

For those blissfully unaware, here is a post on that gut-wrenching mess. [TW for animal abuse].

Fans have been vocal about their concern for all of the kids living with those two unstable assholes, but especially for Kaiser, who has been shown on Teen Mom 2 as being treated especially roughly by David. [TW for child abuse].

There is no word yet about if David's child Maryssa, or the couple's first child Ensley (both of whom live in the Swamp of Sadness with David and Jenelle with first son Jace being allowed visitation) are being considered for removal as well, or if Kaiser's removal is directly related to the Nugget Incident or a separate case of abuse.

OP is tentatively relieved to hear that Kaiser is away from David but also believes that he has no business being in charge of any living creature and should be placed in a wicker man, an iron maiden, or any ghastly combination of the two.

*UPDATE*: Jenelle's visitation privileges with Jace have also been suspended and he is no longer allowed on The Land. [SOURCE]

Michael Sheen discusses his character on the The Good Fight.

His character was described to him as a Roy Cohn type character. He was a very amoral person.
He envisioned the character as peter pan-like woodland creature - half man, half goat - hence his hair and beard.
He hopes the character's joyfulness redeems him. He is a joyful trickster.

ONTD Original: Live Performances From The Queens of RuPaul's Drag Race 11

Last week's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race was stunning. Partially because of who was eliminated, and partially because of the lip-sync performance. Silky Nutmeg Ganache had been talking up her lip-sync skills, only to suck at performing TLC's "No Scrubs."

It inspired me to look up a few of the cast members' live performances from before they went on Drag Race. Who is a strong performer, and who sucks?

Parents don't regret naming their kids after Daenerys

Suzy Friot has said she doesn't regret naming her daughter Khaleesi Jade.

“From the time her title Khaleesi was introduced, both my fiancé and I agreed that we loved the name. We loved how it rolled off the tongue. As the show progressed, we love that her character overcame many obstacles and earned respect and love as a queen, instead of being a tyrant. On top of it all, she was a beautiful, intelligent woman. Veep showrunner thinks Julia Louis-Dreyfus getting cancer was the best thing to happen to the show

Vulture had a behind the scenes look of the final episode of the show where showrunner David Mandel offered up this little gem:

"Nobody wanted Julia to get cancer. That being said, I do think I’ll look back and say to myself that Julia’s cancer was the best thing that happened to the series."

JLD's cancer diagnosis meant that the final season of the show was delayed for a year while she received treatment (she's currently in remission). It also changed the trajectory of the season as originally Mandel planned[Spoiler (click to open)]for the season finale convention to be a power struggle where Selina didn't have enough delegates to be the party nominee so she asked Jonah to be her vp. Ultimately Jonah took so long to answer her that Tom James was able to maneuver his way into the nomination.

The flash forward would have only been 8 years in the future and would have seen Richard Splett successfully gaining the Democratic nomination and asking Selina to be his VP which she accepted.

The delay meant that Mandel got to see more of Trump's presidency and he decided that[Spoiler (click to open)]
the current political era is post-consequences so he wanted Selina to succeed at getting what she wanted. The article reveals that the final script notes that when Selina is sitting in the oval office she has become "our Trump".

How Game of Thrones uses costume design to show power

Sansa Stark and Cersei Lannister are two of Game of Thrones’ most recognizable enemies. But despite being on opposite sides of Westeros, their costumes have a ton in common.

From the very beginning of the show, their outfits have been mirrors. When they’re both oppressed and weak in the earlier seasons, they’re dressed in loose, pastel clothing signaling their lack of power. As the show moves on and their plots become more complicated, they don “survival camouflage,” clothes used to mask secrets and blend in with enemies. And when both women begin to assert the power of their houses, Lannister lions and Stark wolves become the focal point of their clothes.

In the show’s final season, Sansa and Cersei default to military-style accents on their gowns as they prep for battle. Those high-necked dresses evoke images of each family’s armor — full of defensive details like epaulets and draped chains. And while both leaders have learned different lessons about war and family, it’s safe to say their outfit parallels are there for a reason.

Bill Skarsgard joins "A Naked Singularity"

The film is an adaptation of Sergio De La Pava’s debut novel of the same name. It follows Casi (Boyega), a successful public defender in New York who starts to question everything after he loses his first case.

Skarsgard will presumably be a human being and not a killer clown, unlike in IT (2017) and IT: Chapter 2 (2019).

The film has no date for release or production so far.
