Michael Sheen has teamed up with 'Hey Girls', a UK-based social enterprise which aims to end 'period poverty', in order to help fathers become more comfortable talking with their teenage daughters about menstruation.
The #Pads4Dads campaign helps fathers to become educated on the topic of menstrual cycles, employing a website with information, as well as selling "Dad Kits" that contain feminine hygiene products, separate manuals with info for Dad and daughter, and packets of hot chocolate to "ease the conversation".
Says Sheen in the promotional video:
"I have a daughter. I get it. It can feel hard to start the conversation. But that's okay. 'Hey Girls' is here to help us Dads end the stigma of talking about periods and buying period products for the young women in your life...Let's not leave Dads out of the bloody conversation."
'Hey Girls' gives away one box of pads or tampons to low-income women for each one that a customer buys.
