Captain Marvel Red Carpet Premiere

The red carpet World Premiere for Captain Marvel was last night! This is very different from the London premiere that happened last week because as we all know Los Angeles is the center of the universe. Also, the carpet at the London premiere was blue.

In attendance were film stars Brie Larson, Samuel L Jackson, Gemma Chan, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, and more.

Other Marvel actors attended too.

Kylie Jenner has officially become the youngest self-made billionaire ever

"She's the youngest-ever self-made billionaire, reaching a ten-figure fortune at a younger age than even Mark Zuckerberg (who was 23 when he hit that mark)", Forbes said.

Jenner made her foray into cosmetics in 2015 when she starting selling lip kits, with lipsticks and lip liners. They sold out in less than a minute. The 21-year-old had finally achieved billionaire status thanks to 9% revenue growth in her $900 million business, Kylie Cosmetics, in 2018, fueled by a partnership with Ulta that brought her products to its more than 1,000 US stores.

Britney Spears’ dad will now be solely in charge of her finances

Andrew Wallet, filed his notice of resignation on Monday he states, “The conservatorship is engaged in numerous ongoing business activities requiring immediate attention and it therefore is in the best interest of the conservatee that the acceptance of his resignation and the issuance of amended letters of conservatorship of the estate occur immediately and without delay.” Leaving Jamie Spears in charge of Britney's money making empire. The long over due conservatorship was seen as a legal safety net for Britney, so if her estate gets sued it goes through her father and lawyer. Last time Britney was in court was when she was sued by Sam Lufti. Lufti who mentally and physically abused Spears, also hid her dogs while secretly medicating her. Lufti threaten Spears her children would be taken away while spending a vast amount of her fortune.

Spears who is in a better place in life now no longer needs to be placed under a conservatorship but it will undetermined if Jamie Spears will still be in charge since he's in ailing health. Spears, halted her latest residency citing she wanted to be with her father while he recovered. Rumors were swirling "Domination", wasn't selling but if Park Mgm dissolves the residency Britney will keep her millions as Mgm paid her upfront.

The Island of Sea Women

Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju, are best friends that come from very different backgrounds. When they are old enough, they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective, led by Young-sook’s mother. As the girls take up their positions as baby divers, they know they are beginning a life of excitement and responsibility but also danger.

Despite their love for each other, Mi-ja and Young-sook’s differences are impossible to ignore. The Island of Sea Women is an epoch set over many decades, beginning during a period of Japanese colonialism in the 1930s and 1940s, followed by World War II, the Korean War and its aftermath, through the era of cell phones and wet suits for the women divers. Throughout this time, the residents of Jeju find themselves caught between warring empires. Mi-ja is the daughter of a Japanese collaborator, and she will forever be marked by this association. Young-sook was born into a long line of haenyeo and will inherit her mother’s position leading the divers in their village. Little do the two friends know that after surviving hundreds of dives and developing the closest of bonds, forces outside their control will push their friendship to the breaking point.

samile Will Pay A $5.7 Million Settlement To FTC For Allegedly Taking Kids’ Info

· Following allegations by the Federal Trade Commission that - aka TikTok - collected kids' private info without parental consent, in violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, the company agreed to pay a $5.7mn settlement. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act was passed in 1998 and requires online services to obtain a parent's consent before collecting private information from children under the age of 13
· In their complaint, the FTC claimed that the company never received parental consent to collect users' info even after receiving complaints from parents, and despite the fact that a "significant amount" of its users were under the age of 13
· The app didn't ask for a user's age until it was purchased in November 2017 by TikTok's parent company, Bytedance. In addition to the settlement, will remove all videos from users under age 13
· To create a profile, requires users to supply a profile picture, first & last name, age, a short biography, email address and a phone number. The FTC complaint says that the app allowed adults to privately contact children; up until 2016, the app had a "my city" feature which showed every user in a 50-mile radius and allowed users to connect via private message
· TikTok said it will no longer allow users under 13 to comment on videos, share videos, message other users or keep a profile but it will allow them to use the app and create their own videos

Academy members call out obsolete dingbat Steven Spielberg on his Netflix hate

Continuing the saga of Steven Spielberg vs. the 21st century, Academy members and filmmakers are calling out the famed director's utter derision of Netflix. Spielberg believes that Netflix movies - even if they do get a theatrical release of any kind - should not be eligible for Oscars, and only Emmys. This is coming up again after 'Roma', Netflix's pride and joy, won three Oscars this year.

Some thoughts from Academy members, from Variety:

-- Publicist Stu Zakim: "As much as I respect Steven and revere him as a filmmaker, he’s not reading the tea leaves. The ship has sailed."
-- Actress Julianne Moore: "On the one hand change happens all the time and we adapt. On the other hand there are valid and beautiful ways to view films that are disappearing."
-- Director Joe Berlinger: "As an Academy member I am concerned about the Academy staying relevant and understanding the seismic shifts that are happening in how people consume entertainment, and a small theatrical release followed up by a global streaming release is the future of viewing for my daughters’ generation."
-- Actor Charlie Hunnam: "I think that Netflix is being really, really daring in their willingness to take a gamble on original adult programming."

More opinions and thoughts at the source. I should note that a few of the people interviewed (including Charlie) have projects that have/will be released by Netflix soon, so there's a bias there.

Mac DeMarco accused of copying indie darling Mitski

After releasing his new single, "Nobody", and announcing his upcoming album, Here Comes the Cowboy, Mac DeMarco has come under fire for allegedly copying fellow indie musician, Mitski, who had also released a single with the same name and an album titled Be the Cowboy last year.

According to a banned source, DeMarco has never even listened to Be the Cowboy and had only learned about these similarities after deciding the titles of his latest album and single. During a press release, DeMarco stated, "Cowboy is a term of endearment to me, I use it often when referring to people in my life. Where I grew up, there are many people that sincerely wear cowboy hats and do cowboy activities. These aren’t the people I’m referring to". Mitski light-heartedly responded to accusations of copying through her social media, saying, "haha! I'm 100% sure mac & I just went fishing in the same part of the collective unconscious!"

His solo music career didn’t go much further than his debut album.
