“It’s hard to explain the relationship between superstars of the 80s and their fans to people who weren’t alive or old enough to remember the decade.” Strong piece by @CraigSJ on the doc I’m dreading to watch. https://t.co/FHPi95vdlN— Ava DuVernay (@ava) March 2, 2019
Michael Jackson super fans are really going hard in my comments for simply sharing an article by a cultural critic who shared his opinion on the doc. This is one of the kindler, gentler comments. I mean, Annie, are you okay? ‘Cause this is a lot. 🥺 https://t.co/GWQIIPiyKa— Ava DuVernay (@ava) March 4, 2019
Part 1 of the gut-wrenching "Leaving Neverland" documentary, which chronicles the allegations of the sexual abuse that Wade Robson and James Safechuck suffered when they were children at the hands of the late musician Michael Jackson, aired tonight on HBO. Needless to say, it prompted strong reactions on social media and a few celebrities reacted to it (and to the preview of Oprah's upcoming interview "After Neverland" with Robson and Safechuck as well).

A reminder that part 2 of the documentary airs on March 4th on HBO at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT. Oprah's "After Neverland" interview with Wade and James airs directly afterwards.
