Britain will no longer allow rape scenes, sexual violence in films rated for under 15

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has announced films with scenes of sexual violence will now be assigned a rating of at least 15 (for moviegoers 15 or older).

The change is a result of feedback from the public during BBFC's most recent survey: "The key message from the guideline consultation was heightened concern about sexual violence across the board. Although we operate very strict standards around sexual violence there was an appetite on the part of the public for us to be even more cautious than we are at the moment."

One film that would have a different rating under the new system is 2008's “The Duchess," which got a 12A rating at the time despite featuring a scene that implies rape. Now, that scene would have to be cut to avoid a 15 rating.

After a turbulent 5 years, iigoru Tinashe has reportedly parted ways with RCA Records and Sony Music. If you visit her artist page on the label’s official website, a “404 page not found” error loads. Tinashe and RCA have yet to officially confirm the split, however.

In 2017, she hired a legal team at LaPolt Law in West Hollywood, California to force her label to release her second album, Joyride. And last Summer producer Hitmaka revealed that the Sony label had blocked new music and the release of Nashe, her third studio album.

Whoops: Vogue Misnamed One Muslim Woman For A Different One

Noor Bukhari

American Vogue photographed the American activist Noor Tagouri for a section on young activists. But instead of including her name, they wrote the name of a Pakistani actress named Noor Bukhari.

Tagouri posted a video to Instagram of her ecstatically flipping open the magazine to see the picture of herself... only to be crestfallen when she saw they named the wrong woman.

https://instagram.com/p/BsvNDpxBEbZ

Vogue has apologized, writing:

“In the February issue of Vogue the writer and activist Noor Tagouri was misidentified in a caption as ‘actor, director, and model Noor Bukhari.' We are sincerely sorry for the mistake. We were thrilled at the chance to photograph Tagouri and shine a light on the important work she does, and to have misidentified her is a painful misstep. We also understand that there is a larger issue of misidentification in media—especially among nonwhite subjects. We will try to be more thoughtful and careful in our work going forward, and we apologize for any embarrassment this has caused Tagouri and Bukhari.”

Louis C.K. "Jokes" About His Own Victims

17-louis-ck.w330.h330.jpg

Louis C.K. is still continuing his apology asshole tour. He was recently in the news for making fun of Parkland teenagers who survived a school shooting. Now, he's joking about his own victims.

“I like to jerk off, and I don’t like being alone.”

Just for good measure, he went back to joking about shooting victims.

“If you ever need people to forget that you jerked off, what you do is you make a joke about kids that got shot."

He also says that comedy is about saying "things you shouldn't."

“The whole point of comedy is to say things that you shouldn’t say. That’s the entire point.”

Weird, I thought it was about, you know, being funny?

Jerry Media faces backlash for their complicity in Fyre and asking their followers to donate money

OP refuses to embed their Instagram account and direct any traffic to them.

By now, you’ve probably watched or at least heard of the two documentaries about the infamous Fyre Festival debacle that never occurred in 2017. There’s Hulu’s Fyre Fraud and Netflix’s Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. The latter was produced by Jerry Media, also known as the popular Instagram account, FuckJerry. Created by Elliot Tebele and with over 14 million followers, Jerry Media helped to promote and scam others out of money along with the mastermind behind it all, Billy McFarland. Last year, McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison.

It’s been nothing but laughs and memes all over social media, including here on ONTD. “He scammed a bunch of rich kids! lmao.” A lot of us are guilty for making or agreeing with these comments. But now that these documentaries are out, the laughs have certainly stopped or at least aren’t as funny. The reality is, besides these annoying influencers and rich millennials who we think “got what they deserved,” there’s a whole community in the Bahamas we never fully considered and after these documentaries we see the lasting impact it had on them.

Hundreds of local people who worked under the beach sun day and night, and never got paid for their hard work. But one stood out in the Netflix version, Maryann Rolle, who lost her entire $50,000 life savings to pay her catering staff and community the money that was owed to them by Fyre and everyone else involved, including Jerry Media. After nearly two years, now they want to donate $10,000 to her, but FuckJerry wants their followers to make up the $40,000 difference and donate the rest on her GoFundMe page. 10K is chump change, and the sheer audacity for FuckJerry to ask their followers to pay for their own mistakes is truly something. Needless to say, their followers are seeing right through the bullshit and are rightfully calling their complicit asses out, and you can read some of them behind the cut. Including Ja Rule’s thoughts on all of this, a comrade no more.

Update: Jerry Media responds...Collapse )

Gigi Hadid photographed leaving Zayn Malik’s NYC apartment

Gigi Hadid was spotting leaving Zayn's NYC apartment. Recently the couple sparked rumours they'd broken up after not spending any time together during the holidays. A source told US Weeekly that they'd called it quits and had been spending time apart since November.

“They’re done,” the source explained. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now.”

The source also told the magazine that Gigi “tried hard to make it work,” but that Zayn has “a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through. She cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together. She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.”

It now appears they may be back on.

Erykah Badu Seemingly Supports R. Kelly, Needs to Have a Window Seat

Amazing, right? She then went onto Twitter to attempt to clarify what she meant and in OP's opinion, she did not do well in this endeavor. Given the vague wording, it seems unclear if she is doubling down on her support for Kelly or showing support the survivors.

AOC, Chelsea Manning and others appear on charity stream to help trans child support group

It all began with Graham Linehan (show runner/creator/writer IT Crowd, Black Books, Father Ted etc) attacking a trans child support group named Mermaids for receiving public funding in the form of the UK lottery fund.

He even got users on the website Mumsnet to mass email the lottery in an attempt to stop any aid from being provided to the support group and has made claims that the group gives "untested drugs" to children, despite the fact that it is a SUPPORT GROUP and not a clinic.

Anyway, people are obviously appalled at this disgusting transphobic behavior from a straight male hasbeen who claims to be doing this all to "protect women". FICTION: The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead

Release date: July 16

About: In this bravura follow-up to the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning #1 New York Times bestseller The Underground Railroad , Colson Whitehead brilliantly dramatizes another strand of American history through the story of two boys sentenced to a hellish reform school in Jim Crow-era Florida.

As the Civil Rights movement begins to reach the black enclave of Frenchtown in segregated Tallahassee, Elwood Curtis takes the words of Dr. Martin Luther King to heart: He is "as good as anyone." Abandoned by his parents, but kept on the straight and narrow by his grandmother, Elwood is about to enroll in the local black college. But for a black boy in the Jim Crow South in the early 1960s, one innocent mistake is enough to destroy the future. Elwood is sentenced to a juvenile reformatory called The Nickel Academy, whose mission statement says it provides "physical, intellectual and moral training" so the delinquent boys in their charge can become "honorable and honest men."

In reality, The Nickel Academy is a grotesque chamber of horrors, where the sadistic staff beats and sexually abuses the students, corrupt officials and locals steal food and supplies, and any boy who resists is likely to disappear "out back." Stunned to find himself in such a vicious environment, Elwood tries to hold on to Dr. King's ringing assertion "Throw us in jail and we will still love you." His friend Turner thinks Elwood is worse than naive, that the world is crooked and the only way to survive is to scheme and avoid trouble.

The tension between Elwood's ideals and Turner's skepticism leads to a decision whose repercussions will echo down the decades. Formed in the crucible of the evils Jim Crow wrought, the boys' fates will be determined by what they endured at The Nickel Academy.

Based on the real story of a reform school in Florida that operated for one hundred and eleven years and warped the lives of thousands of children, The Nickel Boys is a devastating, driven narrative that showcases a great American novelist writing at the height of his powers.

James McAvoy about 'Glass' and The Future Of X-Men & 'It: Chapter 2'

• The initial hint that Split was a sequel was a lot more subtle in the script and James did not get it.

• There was a dance sequence in Glass, in which he sang a bit of Drake, but it had to be cut because Drake asked for too much money.

• Apparently James doesn't really care about music: "I'm just not big on music at all. I know, it's like a failing. The only time I ever really feel like I rely on music is when I'm tidying in the house, and I generally play the same playlist by Jamiroquai. Which is pretty great for tidying." (wtf, dude??)

• They talk a lot about Star Trek. James also does a quick Ian McKellan/Gandalf impression.

• About X-Men: Dark Phoenix: "It's gone back to what I've always loved about the X-Men, which is that the bad guys aren't bad guys, the bad guys are your family. The bad guys are your best friend, the bad guys your brother, the bad guys are someone who you completely understand and empathise with, so it makes their conflict a lot more interesting."

• He doesn't know if the X-Men can fold into the MCU: “One of the beautiful thing about the X-Men, one of the things that always strikes me [...] is, it has a parallel with disenfranchised. With people that have been ghettoised, with ethnic minorities, sexual minorities, with any kind of person that mainstream society is scared of. And there are large amounts of, they get pushed down, pushed off to the side of society and that's what the mutants represent. They're not the same necessarily as the handful of heroes that are regarded as demi gods. [...]"
