A furor over the dancer Sergei Polunin’s social media posts, declaring his dislike for homosexuals and embracing Putin and Trump, cost him a guest job in "Swan Lake" at Paris Opera Ballet https://t.co/PYJZwDOJYY
Troubled Ukrainian dancer Sergei Polunin was recently invited to appear as Siegfried in the Paris Opera Ballet's staging of "Swan Lake," wherein the Prince is to be portrayed as a closeted gay man.
Problem? Over the last few months, Polunin – whose history of bad behavior has him labeled "ballet's bad boy" – has posted Instagram messages that were homophobic, sexist, pro-fascist (he has Putin's face tattooed on his chest), fat-shaming, and violent.
Among other things, Polunin claims gay male dancers "need a good slap" and that they're the cause of ballerinas' masculinization: "Females now trying to take on the man role because you don't fuck them and because you are an embarrassment."
He also says in a since-deleted post, "Let's slap fat people when you see them. It will help them and encourage them to lose some fat. No respect for laziness! Stop sitting on your ass and start exercising. Do you see lions or lioness being fat??? It's not healthy, it's ugly, it's lazy."
Members of the community, including dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet, criticized the decision to invite Polunin in light of these comments. Corps de ballet member Adrian Couvez said, "Such an embarrassment you are, @SergeiPolunin_. To invite someone like this to @operadeparis in 2019 is just impossible. Our company promotes values of respect and tolerance. This man has nothing to do with us." (Translated from French.)
Less than 48 hours after the announcement, Paris rescinded the invitation and condemned his remarks.
Though Polunin is regarded by many to be one of the best dancers of his generation (he was the Royal Ballet's youngest ever principal dancer at only 19), this is not the first opportunity he's lost because of his personal issues — including drug and alcohol addiction. His rise, fall, and temporary redemption is chronicled in the documentary Dancer.
For those who want to know the breakdown and where/how to watch the nominations on TV and online, check out the graphic above. The first set of nominations will include tech/shorts and supporting nominations, while the second set starting at 5:30am PST/8:30 EST include all of the big guns, and more tech/crafts/shorts nominations.
For those who care, pundits are looking at stats/odds and it looks like 'A Star is Born' & 'Green Book' may get the most nominations, sigh.

After his massive hit I Took a Pill in Ibiza, Posner went on tour and released some side projects of his. Now he's back with a new album called A Real Good Kid.
The album is titled after a quote his late father said when he was a little baby. Posner lost his father Janaury 11 2017 and wrote the opening track about it.
Posner also discusses his own dark thoughts on this record, and examines his own life, at one point saying, "Am I the only one here who doesn't know what the fuck is going on? I worked the last ten years. I'm a multimillionaire. I'm thirty years old, it's supposed to all be good. It is not fucking all good. Fuck.". Several songs on the album have clips of Posner's father speaking to him.
He references the death of Avicii who he was friends with, on the record, as well as a breakup he went through.
After this album, in March, he is going to walk across America which will take him a year.

ONTD Original Conspiracy: Has Lady Gaga Been Stealing from Sailor Moon Characters?
We've heard of the alleged Katy Perry and Katy Keene possibility which has been very convincing, but what if the same rings true to Gaga who might also be taking from fictional superhero legend Sailor Moon? We knew Gaga has kept an eye out on Geri Halliwell's antics to help push her career, so maybe it's not a far off idea people would steal from anime characters.
From the villains and main characters - here are 13 examples of Gaga taking cues from the TRUE guardian of the galaxy's show.

Wendy Williams' staff posted the following message to her Twitter account explaining that the 2019 return of her daytime talk show would be postponed for a third time, INDEFINITELY, as Wendy seeks medical treatment.
This announcement comes amid weeks of rumors that Wendy's shoulder fracture (for which she never provided an explanation) was caused by domestic abuse by her husband Kelvin Hunter--whose longtime mistress, with whom he shares a second home, is pregnant.
There is also speculation spurred by Wendy's slurred speech and spacey affect that her health issues extend beyond a shoulder fracture and Graves' Disease, and that she may have recently had a stroke. Some have suggested that Wendy, who has been open about her struggles with addiction, has been abusing prescription painkillers or relapsed to using cocaine, and her hospital stay is actually a stint in rehab.

Netflix screeners 3 years ago ended up being 20 pounds in total, costing the company an estimation of 4$m.
New Chairman (of the TV Academy) Frank Scherma says that after all the meetings across various branches, most people were in favor of doing away with screeners.
The TV academy charged 200$ per episode per peer group up to 2000$ per episode in studio mailiers, and most of the time studio mailers end up costing 1$m.
Screener sites can be made for less than 100k. While Hulu/Amazon/Netflix may have an edge (people know how to use those sites), others that depended on cable shows or DVDs may have to work harder to get out there to the tech-adverse, or by connecting to multiple network streaming sites like CBS All Access.

This time, despite series three not yet having been broadcast in the UK, it will still go out on PBS in its usual January slot. British fans are, understandably, salty

Dean McDermott fired back at body shamers after his wife Tori Spelling shared a snap of their kids on Instagram. Spelling had posted a pic of Liam, 11, Stella, 10, Hattie, 7, Finn, 6, and Beau, 22 months. Trolls attacked the family in the Instagram post's comments, labeling the children 'obese', 'neglected' with 'greasy hair' and 'wrinkled clothes'.
McDermott noticed a flood of unkind comments : “I am absolutely horrified and disgusted by the comments being left about my children. Body shaming and bullying my children??!! What is wrong with you people??!! So I apologize we didn’t get the iron and steamer out to make them perfect for you. They’re kids. They’re messy and dirty. That’s what they do. And what’s wrong with shopping at Target??!! Over half of America shops there. The way they grow out of clothing so quickly is astounding. Are we supposed to shop at Gucci?? These are kids, folks. Messy stinky little bundles of fun, laughter and love. They’re going through different growth phases, and even if our children are on the bigger side. Who cares. They’re happy and healthy and I’m sorry they don’t look like skinny supermodels. People come in all shapes and sizes. So who are you to judge. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for passing such horrible judgement on innocent beautiful children. Shame on you all!!!!”
Pop culture icon boo has passed away this morning, January 18. He was 12 years old. His owners took the dog’s official Instagram page to announce the sad news.
They wrote in the caption:
"Dearest friends of Boo,
With deepest sadness I wanted to share that Boo passed away in his sleep early this morning and has left us to join his best friend, Buddy. Our family is heartbroken, but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in any pain or discomfort. We know that Buddy was the first to greet him on the other side of that rainbow bridge, and this is likely the most excited either of them have been in a long time.
Since starting Boo’s FB page, I’ve received so many notes over the years from people sharing stories of how Boo brightened their days and helped bring a little light to their lives during difficult times. And that was really the purpose of all this...Boo brought joy to people all over the world. Boo is the happiest dog I’ve ever met. He was so easy going that we never had to bother with training. He made the manliest of men squeal with delight over his cuteness and made everyone laugh with his quirky, tail wagging personality.
Ahem, excuse me. What I meant was, in the next SVU episode, airing in 2 weeks, some girls murder their father because allegedly he had been assaulting them, except maybe that's not true and they're just Deadly Women™? Who can never be sure? Also, I think Rollins has her baby? I don't know, and I don't care enough to find out. I did, however, find out via twitter that Rollins won't be going on maternity leave and she'll be in every single S20 episode. While I'm happy for the actress getting all her cheques, I am not happy for myself as a viewer, or for the ONTD SVU stans as a whole.
ONTD, did you watch last night's SVU episode? Was it half-decent or was it me? Were you surprised we got a nice amount of Carisi even though it was a Stone episode? Do you think that girl was ~the girl~ Carisi was supposed to meet, i.e. his future girlfriend? And, lastly, does it offend you to watch all those Carisi/Stone scenes taking place in Barba's goddamn office? Interloper!
