'Sesame Street' introduces first homeless character

The character of Lily was first introduced to the series in 2011 where she explained that her family was experiencing food insecurity – they didn't have enough to eat.

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind "Sesame Street," is reintroducing Lily as the first homeless character on the show in order to provide hope for those children that are currently without a home of their own. The story line was created as a new initiative, and part of the Sesame Street in Communities program, to alleviate the stigma around homelessness.

One in 20 children younger than 6 years old in the United States experienced homelessness, according to a 2017 release of a 2014-15 report by the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the Department of Health & Human Services.

Taylor Swift used facial recognition software to detect stalkers at LA concert

According to a new article by Rolling Stone, it was reported that on her Reputation STADIUM Tour, Taylor Swift used facial recognition technology to see if any of her known stalkers were in attendance. But how you may ask? 🤔 When Swift performed at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, fans could watch rehearsal clips at a special kiosk. Unknowingly while people watched, the built in facial-recognition camera inside the kiosk would then immediately snap photos that were then transferred to a “command post” in Nashville and would then be cross-referenced with a database of known stalkers.

Reps for Swift did not respond for comment but some may feel this is a privacy concern since it is unknown who keeps these photos and for how long. The “Speak Now” singer also celebrates her 29th birthday today. Dive bar on the East Side, donde estás?

Ellen DeGeneres is considering ending her daytime talk show in 2020

Her brother believes that America needs "her positive, unifying voice on television every day" in the age of Individual-1.

Portia de Rossi, however, disagrees with him, "I just think she's such a brilliant actress and standup that it doesn't have to be this talk show for her creativity. ... I don't see the end of her show as her career ending."

The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently in its 16th season.

Natalie Portman criticizes Israel's nation-state law as racist

Natalie Portman has spoken out against Israel's nation-state law, which was passed earlier this year to widespread controversy and criticism.

The Oscar-winner told BBC reporter Sam Asi that the law is "racist, and there's nothing else to say about that."

"It's wrong and I disagree with it. It's hard to be from a place where you don't have choice, where it's political. It's the people you love and their lives are personally affected by all the decisions politicians make. I just hope to be a part of changing that and making us truly love our neighbors, and working with our neighbors. It's like your family, you love them the most but you're also the most critical."

The nation-state law states that "Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people," and that only Jews have the right to self-determination in the country, despite Israel's Arab citizens numbering over 1.8 million.

Oprah responds to viral video of her eating bland unseasoned chicken

BuzzFeed writer Spencer Althouse dug through The Oprah Winfrey Show archives and pulled up an old video in which Oprah appears unimpressed after tasting a guest’s bland $1 million dollar award-winning recipe for baked chicken and stuffing.

O responded to the viral tweet and clip saying, “Okay, Spencer, I don’t know what ever made you pull that tape out of the vault, but, made me laugh. I always wanted anybody who came on the show, no matter what they did, to have a good experience. And I also wanted to stay in my own truth while allowing them to have that good experience. I was having a moment of trying to decide, Do I want her to have a great time? What is my real moment of truth? Because the truth for me was that I am used to having salt and pepper on my chicken. That’s just the truth. That’s what I was thinking: this chicken needs some salt and pepper.”

Miss USA 2018 Issues an Apology

Miss USA 2018 Regina George Sarah Rose Summers issued an apology via Instagram for her ignorant comments about Miss Cambodia and Miss Vietnam.

The apology was made after bigger media outlets picked up the news. Random: E News, AOL, TMZ and FOX (ugh) picked up the news a few hours after it came out on ONTD - they used the same Instagram video from @grandslambeautyalliance that was first posted here.

I'm surprised that there were some from last night who thought there's nothing problematic with what Miss USA did and said.

But I thought it was noteworthy to share these comments from last night as well:

Everyone, including Oscar winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins, was desperate to locate the coat. The New York Times was able to identify it as Max Mara who originally made it circa 2012 or 2013. Pelosi has been spotted wearing it before, the first time at President Obama's second inaugeration.

"Dumplin" put plus-size bodies front-and-center in a way that one woman has rarely seen before

The movie is about Willowdean, a teenage girl whose mother is a pageant queen. The writer of this article had this to say about Willowdean: "She begins and ends the film exuding confidence. Sure, she falters, but we mostly get to see a fat character that is, for all intents and purposes, happy with herself. She overcomes hurdles, looks amazing in her clothing, and in the end gets the guy, all while existing in a body that she rarely second-guesses, refuses to let anyone else cut down, and doesn’t have to change to get what she wants."

This movie is what Insatiable should have been.
