A nearly 3 years investigation into Neil deGrasse Tyson yields 4th accuser and more details

After nearly 3 years of investigation, reporters at have unearthed a ton of new details about the sexual harassment/rape allegations against Neil deGrasse Tyson. I'll try to sum up the most relevant proof/corroboration of each incident from the article:

  • In 2010, the 4th accuser met Tyson at a party at the American Museum of Natural History. There, she said Tyson made sexual jokes and propositions that made her extremely uncomfortable. She told 2 friends about it, both of whom confirmed that she did to Buzzfeed. She also produced an old email where she warned her employer against collaborating with Tyson.

  • 4 people, 3 of whom were crew members of Cosmos, confirmed that Ashley Watson, Tyson's former assistant on the show in the earlier parts of 2018, told them about the sexual harassment in the months after, and produced texts and emails as proof that she did.

  • In 2009, Tyson tried to reach down the front of Katelyn Allers's dress (right after the above photo). A friend of hers as well as another witness who saw the incident confirmed her version of the events to Buzzfeed.

  • Tchiya Amet's ex-husband said that Amet had told her some details of her alleged rape by Tyson, when Tyson and her were graduate students in 1984, including that he drugged her. The ex-husband gathered that it was something traumatic, and that the trauma affected their marriage.

Some additional details:

  • Watson had read the rape allegations on Tchiya Amet's blog, but dismissed them. After her alleged sexual harassment by Tyson, however, she messaged Amet to say she believes Amet.

  • In 1983, the year prior to the alleged rape, Amet had to periodically leave school to testify at a murder trial. The combined trauma caused her to drop out.

  • Investigators from the producers of Cosmos are set to interview Watson on Wednesday. Neither Allers nor Amet has been contacted by investigators from the show yet, because apparently the investigation is still in early stages.

Why Brie Larson Looks So Bored In 'Captain Marvel'

Forbes says that Brie Larson does indeed look bored in the new trailer.

The colorful costume is in contrast with her deeply unimpressed facial expression

But Forbes says it's intentional because her character isn’t a young, zippy teenager, she's a jaded intergalactic warrior, an amnesiac one

What we’ve seen so far indicates that this is a story about a superhuman becoming human, rather than the other way around. And a superhuman as ridiculously overpowered as Captain Marvel is bound to be bored by the scale of her own abilities

Larson is playing an emotionally detached character

So yeah, she looks bored, but that's the point.

According to Page Six, Saoirse Ronan is dating her “Mary Queen of Scots” co-star Jack Lowden

They looked extremely close at the after-party for their new movie Tuesday night

A movie source told Page Six of Ronan and Jack: “We don’t know when they got together, we only found out on Tuesday night when they rolled up together — but they seem very happy and sweet.”

Mayo Of The Woods Justin Timberlake has cancelled his remaining 2018 tour

Mayo had to postpone his concerts an astounding four times. He had to back out of shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and KeyBank Center back in October. Mayo also postponed his show at the Tacoma Dome in Washington earlier this month. Mayo's shows weren't selling well and this has sparked rumors of his drug abuse spiraling out of control. Mayo/his team have decided to cancel the remaining shows altogether citing bruised vocal cords. Fans that attended his shows prior to the cancellation have stated his performances have left to be desired. Mayo's last public appearance was on Jimmy Fallon who also has a private drinking and drug problem in November. Mayo showed no signs of vocal problems even though he had to cancel shows back in October. No formal announcements have been made about refunds for his canceled shows or if Mayo will enter a treatment center.

The biggest snubs from this year's Golden Globes nominations, from Toni Collette to Viola Davis

The 2019 Golden Globe nominations were announced, and as with any award show ever, some people and shows/films get snubs. While Variety lists 22, I'll highlight a few from those that were legit snubs, and not just BS nonsense.

In addition to the ones from Variety, two big snubs I noticed were Ethan Hawke for 'First Reformed', for which he got rave reviews (and the Gotham Award win), and Sam Elliott as supporting actor for 'A Star is Born' (who also got rave reviews despite being all mumbly in the movie).

-- SNUB: Julia Roberts, “Ben Is Back” - Julia got insanely amazing reviews for this when the movie premiered at film festivals early this fall, but got no recognition in at the Globes (though was nominated for 'Homecoming'). Same can be said for Lucas Hedges, but it looks like they're pushing him for 'Boy Erased' since he got a nod there.
-- SNUB: Natalie Portman, “Vox Lux” - this is primarily due to the HFPA saying they were going to put Natalie under lead when she's a supporting role in the movie, and as a result got snubbed I guess?
-- SNUB: Toni Collette, “Hereditary” - after her critically-acclaimed performance and Gotham Award win, it was speculated Toni would get a nod. However, voters aren't fans of horror films, so that probably worked against her.
-- SNUB: Viola Davis, “Widows” - Widows in general got snubbed, and given the not-so-hot box office numbers and how quickly hype for this fizzled, Viola and the movie probably won't go far, sadly, in the awards season.
-- SNUB: Sterling K. Brown, “This Is Us” - not just Sterling but the show in general was snubbed overall. Maybe the HFPA had enough of that schmaltzy shit (even if Sterling is great).

Kim Kardashian: Kanye didn't say slavery was a choice!

In the next new episode of KUWTK, Kim addresses Kanye's comments to TMZ about slavery being a choice with her friends. One of her friends says the video was edited (it was not).

Mrs. Kardashian-West then goes on to say:

"If you listen to what he said, he said, slavery was 400 years? If it's gonna be another 400 years, that sounds like a choice to me.' He didn't say, 'Slavery is a choice.'"

The actual quote from Kanye himself was:

"When you hear about slavery for 400 years, for 400 years??? That sounds like a choice. Like, you was there for 400 years and it's all of y'all?"

Kim stands by the fact that her 'brilliant' husband was misquoted.

PETA wants you to stop using anti-animal language, compares speciesism to racism/homophobia/ableism

According to PETA, common animal-unfriendly idioms such as "kill two birds with one stone", "let the cat out of the bag", "take the bull by the horns", "be the guinea pig", "hold your horses", "open a can of worms", "bring home the bacon", "beat a dead horse", "more than one way to skin a cat" and "put all your eggs in one basket" can perpetuate violence toward animals and normalize abuse.

Nicki Minaj is angry that people are judging her relationship with a convicted rapist

After news came out this week that Nicki Minaj's new mystery man, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender who was convicted of rape in 1995, Minaj finally broke her silence in a series of tweets, accusing people on social media of acting like they've never sinned, and that she wants to delete her account.

She ended her rant by saying she loves making people mad, and then posted a link to her new album Queen.

Lena Dunham gives speech with Aurora Perrineau's mother

In addition to writing an essay where she admitted that she lied about having "inside information" proving her friend Murray Miller was innocent, Lena guest edited this month's Women in Entertainment issue of the Hollywood Reporter and gave a speech at their Women in Entertainment event.

Lena decided to bring Aurora Perrineau's mother onstage with her.

She described the defense she made as her greatest regret but also her "greatest moment of evolution and education".

Lena said she learned about the ways her own heart and mind were colonized by patriarchy.

ONTD, any bets on what Lena Dunham's next "learning experience" will be?

“Baby, It's Cold Outside” banned from rotation due to its controversial lyrics

The 1944 Christmas tune "Baby, It's Cold Outside" has been banned by radio stations cuz it's provocative lyrics are inappropriate in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The duet features a man who goes to increasingly desperate lengths to keep his date from going home, plying her with drinks and warning of wintry weather as he pleads:

"I simply must go (but baby it's cold outside) / The answer is no (but baby it's cold outside)"

Are some of the racy lyrics that has made this holiday classic controversial. The song won an Oscar for the 1949 film Neptune’s Daughter.

ONTD Indie Release Guide Graphic.png

There may not be any big studio releases this week, but there are several award-contending hopefuls coming to theaters, all with decidedly different vibes. Want a period piece? Hannah Gadsby @ THR's Women In Entertainment. Calls out "good men" and more

Comedian Hannah Gadsby spoke at the The Hollywood Reporter’s 2018 Women in Entertainment gala. She dragged late night hosts who have no authority monologuing about misogyny, talked about men who draw the lines of what makes a "good" or "bad" man & says it applies to white people, white women, straights, cis, able-bodied and neurotypical people as well.

"All men believe they are good. We need to talk about this because guess what happens when only good men get to draw that line? This world — a world full of good men who do very bad things and still believe in their heart of hearts that they are good men because they have not crossed the line, because they move the line for their own good. Women should be in control of that line, no question"

"Everybody believes they are fundamentally good, and we all need to believe we are fundamentally good because believing you are fundamentally good is part of the human condition. But if you have to believe someone else is bad in order to believe you are good, you are drawing a very dangerous line. In many ways, these lines in the sand we all draw are stories we tell to ourselves so we can still believe we are good people"

👉 [Full Transcript]
I want to speak about the very big problem I have with the good men, especially the good men who take it upon themselves to talk about the bad men. I find good men talking about bad men incredibly irritating, and this is something the good men are doing a lot of at the moment. Not this moment, not this minute, because the good men don’t have to wake up early for their opportunity to monologue their hot take on misogyny. They get prime-time TV and the late shows.

I’ll tell you what, I’m sick of turning my television on at the end of the day to find anywhere up to 12 Jimmys giving me their hot take. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the Jimmys and the Davids and the other Jimmys — good guys, great guys. Some of my best friends are Jimmy. But the last thing I need right now in this moment in history is to have to listen to men monologue about misogyny and how other men should just stop being “creepy,” as if that’s the problem. “If only these bad men just knew how not to be creepy!” Is that the problem? Men are not creepy. Do you know what’s creepy? Spiders, because we don’t know how they move. Rejecting the humanity of a woman is not creepiness; it is misogyny. So why can’t men monologue about these issues? Well they can, and they do. My problem is that according to the Jimmys, there’s only two types of bad men. There’s the Weinstein/Bill Cosby types who are so utterly horrible that they might as well be different species to the Jimmys. And then there are the FOJs: the Friends of Jimmy. These are apparently good men who misread the rules — garden-variety consent dyslexics. They have the rule book, but they just skimmed it. “Oh, that a semicolon? My bad. I thought that meant anal.” Sorry to the vegans in the room.

My issue is that when good men talk about bad men, they always ignore the line in the sand — the line in the sand that is inevitably drawn whenever a good man talks about bad men: “I am a good man. Here is the line. There are all the bad men.” The Jimmys and the good men won’t talk about this line, but we really need to talk about this line. Let’s call it Kevin. And let’s never call it that again. We need to talk about how men will draw a different line for every different occasion. They have a line for the locker room; a line for when their wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters are watching; another line for when they’re drunk and fratting; another line for nondisclosure; a line for friends; and a line for foes. You know why we need to talk about this line between good men and bad men? Because it’s only good men who get to draw that line. And guess what? All men believe they are good. We need to talk about this because guess what happens when only good men get to draw that line? This world — a world full of good men who do very bad things and still believe in their heart of hearts that they are good men because they have not crossed the line, because they move the line for their own good. Women should be in control of that line, no question.

Now take everything I have said up until this point and replace “man” with “white person,” and know that if you are a white woman, you have no place drawing lines in the sand between good white people and bad white people. I encourage you to also take the time to replace “man” with “straight” or “cis” or “able-bodied” or “neurotypical,” etc, etc. Everybody believes they are fundamentally good, and we all need to believe we are fundamentally good because believing you are fundamentally good is part of the human condition. But if you have to believe someone else is bad in order to believe you are good, you are drawing a very dangerous line. In many ways, these lines in the sand we all draw are stories we tell to ourselves so we can still believe we are good people.

Kevin Hart wants us to stop finding reasons to be so negative and angry

After being announced as the next host of the Oscars, people, rightfully, brought up Hart's past statements, tweets, and abuse. He went on Instagram today to tell everyone to stop finding reasons to be negative and angry, he loves the man he is, and that he loves everybody. He's also, apparently, going back and deleting old tweets.

Was this supposed to be an apology or some shit? LMAO. Fuck this shithead
