‘Monopoly for Millenials’ by Hasbro is a thing now

Just in time for Christmas! Released in 1935 and now 83 years later, Hasbro has released a new and “very relatable” version of the popular Parker Brothers board game: Monopoly for Millenials. The tagline? “Forget real estate, you can’t afford it anyways.” That’s right — in this version of Monopoly, instead of buying useless property you earn “experience points.” They’re earned when you visit things like a farmers’ market, music festival, a vegetarian bistro, a bike share, etc. First things first, whoever plays and has the most student debt gets to roll the dice first! 🎲 You make money by charging your friends money for visiting the places you discovered first.

Community Chest cards say things like, “Your free web-streaming trial expires. Pay the bank $40.” Your game pieces aren’t the traditional top hat, car, or thimble either: you play with an emoji, hashtag, sunglasses or a bicycle. Whoever gains the most experience (not money) wins! Social media reaction to this game over the past few days has been mixed with some laughing and taking it in stride. Others however thought it was tasteless and hit a little too close to home for comfort.

Following some of that online backlash, Hasbro told CNN: “With many of us being millennials ourselves, we understand the seemingly endless struggles and silly generalisations that young millennials can face (and we can't even!) so we created the game to provide fans with a lighthearted experience that allows millennials to take a break from real life and laugh at the relatable experiences and labels that can sometimes be placed on them.”

The game retails for $19.82 on Wal*Mart’s website however it’s currently sold out and running anywhere from $65-$120 on eBay and other websites.

Mumford and Sons, Pêtr Aleksänder and the London Contemporary Orchestra butcher Ariana's "breathin"

This is more "chokin" than "breathin". And the blame falls squarely on Marcus Mumford, who appears to lack any sense of pitch or rhythm.

Wow, I had no idea the band hangs out with the alt-right, but see this comment thread for the gruesome details.

Indie Film Release Guide: November 30th [An ONTD Original]

ONTD Indie Release Guide Graphic.png

After a glut of huge studio releases, we’ve finally come to a week where no major studio is pushing out a new movie in wide release. Warner Brothers is releasing the Nick Nolte drama Head Full of Honey in select cities, but other than that, it’s more of the same as last week. It’s a good week to catch up the films you’ve missed, or check out the indies that have finally expanded to your area.

The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Six” - Paramount, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia and Disney. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. Check out the posts from the past few weeks for more movies that may have just opened near you: November 21st, November 16th, and November 9th.

John Krasinski sent nudes to the Rock

In a premise from next door male Jim was working out naked at the Rock's gym, so he sent Dwayne pix of himself nude.... to prove it.

I'm glad that the Office's resurgence through reruns has made the show popular again. It solidified what a smug bastard Jim really was and an awful couple Jim and Pam were. Esp. when Roy told Jim oh, she's out with friends? You were a friend to.

ONTD ORIGINAL: 5 More Songs That Could Be Nominated For Best Original Song

Remember this post? Pretend that you do.

Here are 5 more songs not named "Shallow" that could be nominated for Best Original Song At The Oscars.

The Place Where Lost Things Go (Emily Blunt, “Mary Poppins Returns”)
Of course, we have no idea what context this is in, but we can look at the trailer and figure it out. Children are sad, she makes them not sad.
Time will tell if any of these songs can hold up to the original Mary Poppins movie, though I can expect you all to say “No”. I have no overwhelming nostalgia for the first film, this doesn’t bother me.
OTHER AWARDS: Best Picture?  Is there enough money for Disney to push this and "Black Panther"? (Yes.)
Best Actress is also a possibility for Live Action Disney Icon Emily Blunt.

What’s Up Danger (Blackway and Black Caviar, “Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse")
The unexpected Animated hit of the year so far, Into The Spiderverse has a bright and fresh vocal soundtrack to match. Who expected this to be more positively received than "Venom"? Everyone.
(There’s also a Post Malone song in the film, “Sunflower”, but who wants to talk about him?)
OTHER AWARDS: I am really hoping for Best Animated Feature! I hope Disney is so focused on paying for "Black Panther" and "Mary Poppins" galas, invites, and votes so this sneaks the win over "Incredibles" and "Ralph" sequels, but it’s up to those uninterested Academy voters. "Into The Spiderverse" hits theaters December 14th.

Adam Levine says all of the of the innovation is happening in Hip-Hop, criticizes the Grammys

TV personality, professional button pusher on The Voice, and lead singer of Maroon 5 — Adam Levine — says hip-hop is where all of the innovation in music is currently happening. Levine tells Variety, “Something unique to this band is that we have always looked to hip-hop, R&B, all rhythmic forms of music, from back when we were writing our first album to now. Rock music is nowhere, really. I don’t know where it is. If it’s around, no one’s invited me to the party. All of the innovation and the incredible things happening in music are in hip-hop. It’s better than everything else. Hip-hop is weird and avant-garde and flawed and real, and that’s why people love it.” The “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt Like a Motherfucker” singer adds, “My goal is to make songs that don’t sound dated 10 years later. My main criteria for a song is, can I live with it forever? And if I can’t, I just don’t have the heart to do it. It’s that simple.” Sure, if you say so.

Levine is also no stranger to criticizing award shows either, in the past he’s lashed out at the MTV Video Music Awards and now the Grammys for screwing bands over saying, “Apparently being in a band is against the law at this point. Bands that are currently in the pop landscape — or have survived the pop landscape — who are they? Imagine Dragons, One Republic, Coldplay and Maroon 5. There’s your category for best group. The Grammys had to change the fucking category because there weren’t any bands. Now any [featured artist] can make it. Goddamn it, we cornered the market — then you fucked us, Grammys!”

Adam also admits he begged Cardi B to record the “Girls Like You” remix with him and is currently “formulating a lot of things“ for his band’s SuperBowl performance early next year.

You’re right, you haven’t been invited.

ONTD, do you agree? Has Adam always been this whiny?

Shawn Mendes Racist Past Resurfaces

After Shawn's racism was mentioned in the comments of Shawn's "I'm not gay" Rolling Stone interview, I decided to do a little digging to see whatisthetruth.gif.

This isn't the first time his sordid past has been exposed. Matter of fact, earlier this year InTouch Weekly reported on Shawn's old Instagram post from 2012 where Shawn used the n-word in his caption to describe his friend, Kareem. The caption said, "A regular day with mah n***** Kareem."

Shawn removed the caption after he received backlash. One user wrote "Delete Shawn before this comes to haunt you hoe."

This was before he tweeted and then deleted "Light skin girls>>>>>>". You thought he would have learned.

He also tweeted this to a fan telling her the black jumped out after she wrote some nonsense.

Black Lightning' Producer Salim Akil Sued for Alleged Domestic Violence

Salim Akil is being sued for domestic violence and breach of contract by Amber Dixon Brenner who claims to have been the married exec's girlfriend.

According to the complaint, he later used the idea as the basis for OWN's Love Is.

She claims she and Akil began an affair a decade ago and were together up until last year.
She claims he hit her and forced oral sex on multiple occasions.

She's suing for breach of implied contract regarding her screenplay and for domestic violence for the alleged abuse during their relationship.
She's seeking damages for the use of her ideas and for emotional distress.
Brenner is also suing Akil and OWN for copyright infringement.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Are 'Not the Best of Friends'

According to People, Meghan and Kate Are 'Not the Best of Friends', but they did spend memorable first Christmas together last year:

“I think the two women got on — they are definitely not best friends, but it was a really special time for them all to spend together.”

William and Harry are increasingly moving apart in adulthood.

Harry and Meghan relocated to a new home and they separated their business offices from William and Kate

“They want to do their own thing and create their own style. And to do that you need to be away sometimes.”
