This ties heavily into the new Oscars telecast date for 2020, which was pushed up two weeks inexplicably to February 9th. That was announced weeks ago with the new Academy rules (shorter telecast, stupid popular film category, etc).
-- the 26th Annual Screen Actors awards will take place two weeks before the Oscars, on January 26, 2020, while the Directors Guild of American awards will be the day before, on Saturday, January 25th
-- the Producers Guild of America awards will take place a week before that, on January 18th
Usually there's a month given between these awards and the Oscars, and the SAG/DGA/PGA/WGA, Golden Globes, and BAFTA winners heavily influence the Oscar winners, since voting time is around or after those awards take place. Now there's going to some weird overlap because the Oscar nomination dates haven't been announced for then and it's all just going to happen at once, so a lot more of an avalanche of awards in early 2020.
Remember that the BAFTAs are going to be squeezed somewhere between the SAGs and Oscars, as the British Academy already said they're going to have their awards before the Oscars. So expect them to probably take place on Feb 2... which will be Super Bowl Sunday that year. Fun times. I know this shit is like a year and a half away, but heads up, I guess.
This upcoming awards season schedule will be more normal fare, with the 2019 Oscars taking place on Feb. 24, 2019.
